Haily is the queen of color! Haily did the best color on my hair I have ever had. My color is very tricky, I have long hair that I like to dye a light pink color, I have been to many experienced and spendy stylists that didn’t quite get it right. My hair looked PERFECT after seeing Haily. Bonus points for her sweet personality and gentle touch. She’s kind of like magical forest nymph that will give you awesome hair.

Pigment is what I consider to be a well maintained, professional salon. From the appearance of the salon, to the polite and attentive staff — you truly get what you pay for here. My stylist is Mish, who I highly recommend. I continue to notice that clients visiting the other stylists seem equally pleased with their experience. If you’re considering treating yourself to a high-end salon, give these folks a chance to transform your hair.

I’ve been looking for a salon that uses INOA hair color and Pigment was recommended to me. I called twice and left messages so that I could get some information about which stylist would be best for me and never received a call back. When you call the salon it goes right into a voicemail recording. I guess they’re not looking for business?

I worked with Mandi and had a fantastic experience! She was professional, courteous and listened to what I wanted. She also made some suggestions that I found very helpful in my decision regarding what I might want. I will definitely be back and highly recommend her!

I started going to Pigment for my curly hair upon a recommendation from a friend and I LOVE my hair now that John cuts it! The entire salon is comfortable and professional and John is consistent with his service which I appreciate. He runs on time and takes his time making my hair look great before I leave. This is a salon that employs true professionals(there’s never any weird salon drama) who know hair. I travel a bit of a distance to get there but it’s worth it!

I recently had my first visit to Pigment Salon, and it was specifically to follow my fabulous Portland hair stylist Ian Ghahate! He has recently moved from the National Beauty, and I was only too happy to follow him onto his next location. Pigment salon is right at the base of the Bank of America tower, located conveniently in their very swanky lobby. The salon has an open feel with lots of light and mirrors. You can’t miss it! I was offered coffee, water or wine when I arrived, and was very pleasantly surprised at the light, drinkable white I was given. Now, Ian has consistently done a fabulous job of cutting my hair, which is thick, straight, and very time-consuming. We met out of random streetcar happenstance, and he was so bubbly and friendly that I mentioned I was a recent Portland transplant and in need of a new stylist. He’s great about referencing whichever photos you bring in, and will caution you about pursuing a certain cut if he’s not sure you will like the end result based on your hair type and face shape. I initially came to him wanting to go extremely short, but he’s done a great job of helping me transition to a short cut that I love rather than lopping everything off and leaving me in a state of scissor shock. I’ve always received many compliments on my increasingly short hair cuts, so I especially recommend him if you’re trying to work up the courage to go short! His prices run a little low for the salon as he’s a younger stylist, so get to him before his rates grow with his popularity! Bang trimmings are also free with Ian; those can set you back $ 10 a visit if you go elsewhere. I haven’t done coloring with him yet, but he’s fully able to provide coloring services as well. Best of all, his schedule is extremely flexible too, which has been great for me since I work long days and am most available for evening appointments. You won’t find him on Pigment Salon’s website quite yet, as the site will be going through a full remodel soon, but be sure to ask for him when you call(especially if you need a last-minute appointment!).

I honestly cannot say enough good things about Mandy at Pigment Salon. I decided to try out a new stylist after a string of unfortunate dye jobs from my former stylist. She came highly recommended by a couple of friends who go to her exclusively. Since all of their hair looks fabulous I decided to take the plunge and I was not disappointed! Her service was professional and her personality, congenial, but most importantly, my hair looked great and I actually left the salon feeling pretty and satisfied for the the first time in a year. Since my first visit my trust in Mandy and her skills has further developed and we have gotten a little more adventurous. I most recently received a very cute and trendy«ombré» look to my locks that I’m in love with! Feels amazing!

I can not say more good things about this place! I recently moved from Los Angeles, Ca to Portland, Or and I am a Hair Stylist. It has been so hard to find a Super High End Salon. I chose this salon because it is about Quality, only the Best High End Products and Customer Service. I’m so happy to be here. Now to review the Stylists. Tina is the owner of the salon and is the Sweetest person you will ever meet. Her dedication to her Salon and Clients is unbelievable. If you are looking for someone that is great at natural shiny color and fun textured cuts, you have met your girl. She uses INOA by L’Oreal which has no ammonia. Tina has gone out of her way to only use the Best products that are the newest thing in hair at the moment. I absolutely adore her and am so glad to work with such an amazing person. Jeanna recently did my hair. I have very dark hair that has some old color in the ends. I’m getting married in a couple of months and am really high maintenance right now. And I decided to Bleach out my whole head. Whoah! Jeanna is an Expert with Color! She used to be a Platform artist at Hairshows and teach Hairdressers how to do hair and man am I excited that she is doing my hair. My hair is not only healthy and shiny but I had Absolutely No breakage! Unbelievable. From dark to light in one session. I need to mention that if you want great hair and to be highly entertained while in the salon, John is your man. He is so stylish and funny, everybody just wants to be around him all the time! He is really busy so book in advance. He is a hot commodity. There is also Mandy. She is the Best with Men’s cuts. Very fast, efficient, and clean work. She is such a doll and her clients love her. She caters to her clients so much that she offers them beer. She is always having fun conversations with her clients its no wonder they keep coming back time after time. What a great Personality.

Tina is the best! Like the«happy customer» below, I also feel like I should have a wind machine around me every time I leave this salon. Tina takes the time to cut my hair exactly as I wish, and always styles it afterwards in new/unique styles. Lovely lady, lovely salon. Thank you Tina!

Tina Helmer and the gang are all fantastic stylists. I always leave Pigment feeling like I belong in a shampoo commercial and consider Tina to be the number one stylist in the area for reds and curly cuts. For three years I used to fly up from California twice a year before moving here to have her take care of my hair after one too many bad salon and box dye experiences. Contrary to what the other reviewer says, they use high quality, salon grade L’Oreal products and as top notch professionals, they are always willing to work with you to make sure you are fully satisfied with your style.

I was excited to get my hair cut and colored by the owner of this salon, as a friend led me to believe that she was highly skilled and in-demand. I arrived with a photo of the color I wanted and showed it to her, and stressed the importance of making it look natural. When she only glanced at the photo and then immediately darted into the back to mix the dye, I thought, «Wow, she must be really good if she needs to look at the picture for only 5 seconds before she knows the exact dye combination that will produce the desired results!» Imagine my surprise when my color came out«truckstop-hooker-meets-Run-Lola-Run» instead of «dark auburn.» For $ 125, I expected more. Additionally — and unfortunately, I didn’t realize this until the next day when I noticed a cascade of color WASHINGOUTOFMYHAIR, down the shower drain — they use the type of dye(L’Oreal) that you can buy at Wal-Mart. Typically, when a hairdresser meets a new client, they spend some time talking about what the client wants. Not so here. It was quick, poor quality, and extremely expensive. I could have gotten the same results for $ 7.99 in my bathroom.
