Pix Patisserie

This place is incredible. The ambiance, the choice of goods, the variety of atmosphere. There is an inside area, bar area, dining area. Two different patios one in the front and one in the back. All depending on whether you want served at the table or counter service. The goodies are always delicious, never falling short. The wine list is extensive and they have a huge cellar to hold over 300 wines! It’s fairly inexpensive, however you will spend over $ 10, but that’s honestly to be expected. Our service has always been top notch. Super friendly, helpful, and willing to go out of the way to make a drink you want. I recommend this spot for desert ANY DAY and will refer so many friends to this place. Get the Queen of Sheba!

I enjoy the atmosphere of this place. They have a unique beer, wine and cider selection. I love going here because I can get all of the sweets I want and my boyfriend can drink beer. Perfect mix of the two.

I have never had the opportunity to eat here as when i go anytime past 10pm they have nothing left for sale. I dont understand why they stay open if they run out of desserts a good two hours before they close. Must be a Portland thing

Servers were very friendly. Went with a group of 5 people. Great wine selection. Great custom cocktails. The OMAHA! was really yummy.

A bit of a disaster here, service wise. Friend and I came in and were sitting sans menu or anything else for forty-​five (45) minutes with literally no one coming to check on us or offer us anything. I went to the bar and the gal said yes, it’s table service, they’ll be over in a minute. Another 15 minutes and I finally went over and waited in the take away line. For another fifteen minutes and it was insane how long it took. One order, then the guy would disappear for ten minutes, pack up a delivery order, fuss over something random. It was almost laughable how many people gave up and left. And they weren’t short staffed! I saw more than six people working there… So bizarre.
Eventually I ordered an Amélie, which was really nice but served too cold. Once at room temp, it was like a mix between an Opéra and a Ferraro Rocher. A+ But the hot chocolate I ordered was lukewarm; I would have said something but no one came to ask and there was never anyone to get help from at the counter. I was just glad that I cashed out right away.
The host had time to complain about patrons who dine and dash with multiple other staff members on multiple times in a voice loud enough for me to hear it over the music/​movie. That was a bit gross. But with the laissez faire service I can see how people get fed up and bail.
But sometimes you want to just hang and chat w a friend or date without being interrupted and this would be the place. No server will bother you! You could totally break up with someone and go on a date with the next contender all over the same glass of wine, if you’re lucky to get one at all.
They show movies in the courtyard on Wednesdays, which is pretty adorable. A star for that, but otherwise it was a lackluster experience in Portland where we have had nothing but stellar food and service for the past few days.

If you want scatter brained, couldn’t give a shit, going to do a line in the bathroom service and over priced bubbles and desserts go here.

I came here for the sole purpose of French macarons. I bought a box and I tried the fluer de caramel, kalamansi, raspberry, birthday cake and blueberry. The macarons were delicious and perfect in size and taste. Service was decent and maybe next time I’ll actually sit down and get the full experience and try the macaronut.

We originally were trying to get into a place in the pearl for dessert, but we were not in the mood to wait and hour… So we found Pix was 15 min away and decided to give them a go!
They do not take reservations, but waiting 5 min was not bad for a Saturday evening.
We looked in their display case for an idea of what we may want to order. Each dessert had a nice description.
When we were seated, we were offered a binder filled with drinks!
We ended up with coffee. I got a bottomless coffee and my husband with espresso for $ 2.50 each. The coffee is STRONG! I don’t think I have had a stronger cup of coffee, anywhere! Wow!
Our dessert was phenomenal! My Hubby enjoyed the frou frou, and I had the st. Honoré. Delicious!
The service was also good.
We will be back :)

The best macaroons I have ever had!!!
There are 13, delicious, beautiful looking flavors.
The outside is stunning, with all the strawberry plants, and the inside is equally as stunning with beautiful lights and a whole wall of lit up wine bottles.
My only complant is how long I had to stand in from of that dang pastry display trying to figure out what I wanted! It all looked so incredible that I couldn’t decide!

Great dessert. The staff is warm, friendly and knowledgable. Service was fast despite how busy it was. Crème brûlée, coffee, wine, Ambrosia chocolate and the other dessert were all excellent. Décor is fun as well.

Adorable and tasty desserts, as well as delicious drinks chosen from a huge menu. The place is also decorated with fun décor and the environment makes for a great date night. It is kind of close quarters with others, and there can be a bit of a wait. The desserts are great, though prices are the same or higher than other local dessert places, but the desserts are smaller portions. The nicer environment compensates for the price at least!

We went here for a takeout on desserts and it didn’t impress us that much honestly! We had the Queen of sheba which had the right amount of sweet till we dug into the middle with chocolate oozing with overloaded sweetness! The Amalie was good, your typical chocolate mousse fancified! The pixie was a Pistachio based dessert, I personally didn’t fancy it much! The macaronuts were good! The chocolates so-​so.
Nothing was bad but nothing was great as well. for a place with such great reviews I just expected more and it was clearly on the expensive side around 40 odd dollars for the above! Maybe it’s just me but am not visiting again

Downgrading due to my being sober when I tried their desserts this time. (For my last review, I drank lots of bubblies which probably affected my judgement).
Despite a lot of complaints regarding the supposedly rude wait staff, I still have yet to encounter that problem. (probably cuz it was during the day when it wasn’t busy) Friendly, prompt, curteous.
I ordered to go — Gato, Queen of Sheba, Amelie, a Macronut, and had a macron on the spot. (that’s about $ 30. Let’s think about this…)
Macarons…were just ok. Nothing mindblowing. I don’t see what the big deal is. (Trader Joe’s sells macarons in a box of 10 for $ 5 and I can’t really tell the difference)
Macronut…were also just ok. Everybody else was right. The macaron disintegrated in the hot oil and it was just a liquified mess with a greasy donut shell.
Gato…was not good. Too dense and lacking in flavors. Baker and Spice does a better job of berried pie/​cakes for half the price.
Queen of Sheba… was just ok. Tasted like any old flourless chocolate cake. Needed some cream for it to go down. Ended up scraping half the mousse off the Amelie.
Amelie…did indeed taste like a Ferrer Rocher once I got to the center but the outer mousse was too sweet and cloying. $ 9 for this? Shoulda bought a box of Ferrer Rochers…
Wanted to try one of the eclairs that they have a gazillion pics of on their website but apparently, they didn’t have any that day. :(
Having spent $ 30 on desserts (and about 10,000 calories), i think I can safely say, «stick with your local bakery»

Came here with a group of 8 gals for a birthday celebrations after dinner on a Friday night. We were seated after about a 10 – 15 minute wait and had excellent table service by our waitress. We got a chance to view all the stuff in the pastry cases before sitting so she was super helpful with describing things and suggested a particular chocolate dessert with layers of ganache, mousse and meringue that was gluten free (yay). It was absolutely delicious! I also got a double machiatto with it and dipped the meringue the tubes into the foamy espresso and it was heavenly. Highly recommend if you want a tasty, unique dessert and friendly, knowledgable table service.

The macaronuts were amazing! The perfect mix of warmth, texture and taste in in little bite of heaven.

Always such a consistent place with their desserts.
This is definitely the go-​to place for fancy high end French desserts! They offer a variety of wines and tea to pair with the sweets. If you don’t like sweets but love coffee there is a place here for you, don’t worry!
Great place for after dinner talks or casual dates.
Many varieties of macarons to choose from and perfect for a Valentine’s Day gift or just something sweet and fancy.
If it’s your first time here I suggest getting the Jubilee, very fruity and light! Looking at the display glass can be intimidating but the workers here can help you decide if you let them know your flavor preferences.
I do want to mention it gets very busy on weekends so it’s best to arrive early!

Super cute spot for tasty pastries and chocolate. I don’t remember the names of anything I got here but you really can’t go wrong with any of the choices. I also loved the tiny macarons– great choice for when you just something small. I came on Valentine’s Day and all the full sized macarons were heart shaped. Cute!

A friend held her birthday here. I was mortified I was nearly an hour late but relieved when I discovered they were still waiting for their table which they reserved… ridiculous! The case is right in the middle of the restaurant with tables up against it so good luck if there is anyone there to see inside it. I went to order and the waitress asked me if I saw that in the case… ummm, no… I saw it on your menu, that you handed me… to order from? Well if its not in the case it is not available. Why did you give me a menu?
Pro tip… if you would like to go to a wonderful desert place without attitude, overcrowding and that have what is on their menu and do not expect their guests to fight over the crumbs in the case. Tell me what side of town you are on and I will happily send you a list.

On our final night in Portland, after a heavy dinner at Le Bistro Montage, our friends decided to bring us to Pix Patisserie.
Service here is interesting. You order your desserts cafeteria style and go find a seat. Drinks have waiter service and there’s a MASSIVE wine list to choose from. During our visit, I was way too full to eat anything, but the girls ordered some desserts. They got the Le Fraiser ($ 8.25), a lemon and cream cheese mousses with Viridian Farms strawberries and candied lemon disguised as a strawberry with basil ice cream, and a Tiki Tiki ($ 7), passion fruit mousse with coconut meringue and almond cake décor. Me? I just had some tea and our other friend ordered a glass of sublime Royal Tokaji wine.
Everyone was really happy with what they ordered and it’s definitely someplace we’d return to when in town again.

They have a tea happy hour sat and sunday 2 to 3pm with 14 mini bites of desserts and savories. They also have a vegetarian menu.

I give this place a 3.5 because I didn’t feel the quality of the dessert was really as fancy/​authentic/​amazing as it presents itself as being. And for the prices they charge, I felt cheated.
We started off trying the cinnamon churros with chocolate dipping sauce, which sounded awesome. But instead of having deliciously crispy churros, the whole inside of each of them was undercooked/​doughy. It was a miserable «treat». The place confirmed that properly made they traditionally are crispy throughout, but that the pix kitchen didn’t have the tools to do it right. So improper churros is the norm here? :(For $ 7, I surely expected some damn tasty churros.
Then we tried the bacon wrapped date, which was decent tasting, but I didn’t sense it was that fancy for $ 3 each. The $ 22 bottle of cider we got presented itself as fancy, but it wasn’t much different than any local ciders on tap around town.
Lastly, we also tried a $ 7 mini gato cake, which didn’t seem that fancy and tasted basically like a typical blueberry muffin.
Maybe I’m wrong, but I was disappointed. In my mind, a fancy dessert place should have sinfully delicious treats that just melt in your mouth and which you can justify risking diabetes for. The resulting guilt you feel should come from the fact you actually engaged in sin, not because you didn’t want to waste ok food you paid too much for.

Nice environment to have desserts. A must go to spot in Portland for Macarons. Definitely have to get The salt and caramel one. If they have Earl Gray then I highly recommend over everything else!

Desserts are world class; very simply worth going out of your way for. Try the amelie.

Typically amazing. …new years they advertised a «free chocolate buffet at midnight» … you had to stand in line for over 20 minutes outside in 40 degree weather for almost nothing left. …dry ass brownie bites, almost frozen chocolate sauce. … absolute false advertising. I’ve been here twice now, and first was to buy sweets for my friends. Today I’m here to sit and relax to enjoy crème brûlée with crème earl grey tea. Three words that come to mind:
Decadent. Exclusive. Rewarding.
Even cream for tea has vanilla bean specks. No cutting corners here! Finally purchased Shazam which tends to sell out quickly. Be a present for a dear friend of mine, so can’t relay the flavors but I’m aware she loves chocolate caramel so it’ll be a heavenly experience for her.
Will be returning for a ladies night out for a treat to celebrate New Years. Can’t wait to indulge once again! It will pair nicely with my gym membership.

You can’t go wrong at Pix.
If you are gluten-​free get some chocolates or macaroons or a crème brûlée. If you can eat the glutenz, then the world is your oyster.
I came here and split a maple rum bacon date, rosemary port chocolate, and two delicious glasses of wine (one was a Hungarian sweet white from 2009 — look for it!!). We sat at the bar and enjoyed interacting with the staff while we nibbled at the tastiness. This is a perfect place for a dessert date, a post-​show drink, or a classy get together with the girlfriends. I instantly fell in love with the flavors and the adult beverage choices at Pix.

This place has a nice ambience, friendly staff and amazing desserts. Try the Queen of shiba and Concord if you’re a chocolate lover and Tiki tiki if you like fruity desserts.

I’m not new to Portland or Pix or good service. Hopefully with that you’ll understand where this review is going and skip to the next one.
My experience last night speaks to the wonderful potential that awaits you at Pix. The boyfriend and I walked in after a decent meal across the street and let the wait staff know we were going to be sitting down for desert. Somehow that was miscommunicated and we were instructed to get our own menus from the selection of paperwork near the front door. I grabbed one of each for both of us and grabbed a table. A few minutes later we were presented with two beautiful Riedel water glasses, napkins, and silverware all atop a large red binder. No explanation of what the book was and no effort to remove the water glasses, silverware, or napkins from atop of the large red binder. So there we sit: six pieces of do-​it-​yourself menus plus a big red binder of do-​it-​yourself table settings.
We set our own table. The table after us got the exact same treatment… small restaurant… obvious Pix waiter modus operandi. Is this a wine list, I asked?
As I said, I’m not new to Portland and I’m not new to Pix. I asked if they had any coffee drinks and was advised that the owners don’t want the wait staff suggesting or offering coffee drinks. Blank stares from both waiters await you if you ask for coffee drinks. ‘Is this a wine list?’ I ask again, leafing through the large red binder. With much hemming and hawing, and little show of understanding of what a wine list is from the wait staff *(from both of them, again), I conclude that it is, in fact, a wine list. No coffee drinks? No ‘God Father’ apparently. They’ve got the stemware for hot coffee drinks. They certainly have the booze selections.
This is the first time I’d visited the new Burnside location and I really like the location and the layout of the shop. I really like the deserts and everything we tried was excellent. We even got 4 chocolates and 6 macaroons to go and those were excellent. We ate them in my back yard… do-​it-​yourself style. But that service, though… Seriously that service.
Will I go back? Yes because what is the likelihood that I’ll get the same waiters. But seriously, if I have to set my own table again I’m going to 1-​star this place until it changes locations again.

I have eaten a lot of pastry in my life in a number of cities, but I believe Pix patisserie to have the best pastry in the nation. The first time I came to Portland was a few years ago. We tried Pix and I have been dreaming about it ever since. So of course on my second trip I had to return and it was just as incredible as I remembered it. Last time we tried the shazam and the royale. This time I tried the St. Honore, and the chocolate orange pastry that won the competition in France – delectable!

How do we even begin to extol the virtues??? Let’s see… A lemon curd tart dusted with pistachio flecks. A Sheba chocolate cake with gooey chocolate sauce inside. The most perfect crème brûlée, my fairy godfather’s first ever. Hot chocolates and mochas and Aranciata to wash it all down. Oh yeah and some truffles and a bacon wrapped date in there somewhere. And open til midnight on a Saturday, to give me time for catching up with the visiting cousins from Australia. Thank you for existing, Pix!

I came for a macronut and for some reason had a hard time rolling the dang word off my tongue! The girl who had a tattoo on her neck, an outline of the state of Oregon with a green heart inside just kept saying «sorry» and that she couldn’t hear me instead of helping me with the dang word! I explained that I wanted the donut macaroon and she looks up annoyed and tells me it takes 10min to make. Like I’d change my mind after waiting in a 5min line. I didn’t appreciate how rude she was or how she was trying to encourage me to pick something else because the pastry takes 10min to make.
I haven’t had my pastry… I’m patiently waiting for what I came here for. My experience may end well. But for now…
Ok. I’ve had my dang macronut and it was delicious! Would I come back, probably not. I’m moving to CA. But hey, if I come visit, hopefully that girl has improved her customer service or has moved on and left the macaronuts to be sold by friendlier employees. She’s the reason I couldnt give 5 stars.

The pastries and other sweets are great. I tried a few of the different flavors of cookies.
I also had a few of the oysters. They were great, but they didn’t have hot sauce! It may be the NOLA in me, but that’s a necessity!
The service was kind of poor. This being my first time in the establishment, I didn’t know if we were supposed to order from the case for the oysters, or sit down. There was a tray of bacon wrapped dates sitting out that was presented much like a sample tray. After helping our selves to one each, a waitress approached and asked us if we already had a ticket. Long story short, she wasn’t very helpful in getting us to order. It was like she expected us to figure it out ourselves haha. Whatever, it was good! Just go grab a seat at the bar and order some stuff!

I don’t have much of a sweet tooth, but I was really craving some dessert that night. I really wanted something to deliver! Decided to try this place out after having a semi heavy dinner.
I really wanted this place to end the night for me, but sadly it didn’t wow me. Although there were many people coming in and waiting for a table at 930pm, I just don’t understand what they are here for, when a lot of the desserts on the menu were already sold out. And most of the desserts were already made previously, earlier in the day, and its displayed in the front case. My only options were whatever was left in the display case. And once you pick something out, they take it out and basically heat it back up for you. The chocolate molten lava cake? was not what i imagined at all. It felt like it had too much flour in it and kinda felt I was «choking,» after swallowing. All in all, it just wasn’t what i expected. Maybe i’ll come back and try the macaroons.

Absolutely my favorite dessert place in Rose City. I usually go between the Queen of Sheba or Concorde. You nt go wrong if you go for the Jubilee or Ghetto Cherry Cake either. Love that they’re open till 2AM but on weekends they run out of the good stuff pretty early.
One thing I’m not a fan of, charging $ 5 for the Crème Brûlée plate. What’s up with that?!
