So, I sort of broke two bones during my last visit here. I’m not sure I’m a huge fan of the indoor turf anymore. Not at all blaming my injury on Portland Indoor Soccer(in fact, the staff were really helpful once I fell). I just highly suggest that inexperienced folks who are interested in playing try for outdoor soccer clubs, to prevent idiotic injuries like a broken tibia and fibula. Just a suggestion!

I have only ever been on the spectating side of things but I appreciate the fact they have beer on tap and some tables and bleachers to watch the games from.

So this place isn’t too bad. The ceiling is low, and at first I thought that would totally suck. To be honest though, it creates a new take on indoor soccer, and forces you to play differently. I’ve actually really started to enjoy the low ceilings. That being said, the facility could use a few updates. I disagree that this place is «so Portland». Portlanders often use the«so Portland» descriptor for vintage, charming places with an aged feel. I think that there’s a fine line between a place being«so Portland» and its more accurate description of being outdated, poorly maintained, and desperately in need attention. In my opinion, Portland Indoor Soccer looks like a facility that has seen no love since the late 80s. The refs are total hit and miss. Some are great, talkative, smart, and fair. Others have giant egos, involve themselves with the game far too often, and eat too much popcorn. And the ones who are bad refs are … BAD. They can be SO inconsistent(and that’s an understatement). There’s no way to sugarcoat it. At the end of the day, I play here because I enjoy the team I play on and the competition. The location is great too. It’s a easy commute for me.

Looks like this place is trying to get a little better. Prices are still a little high for quality of service. However, new referees have been hired, who are for more consistent than in the past(one must take into consideration the difficulty of task), and seem to have the games under control, sustaining the level of fun clean entertainment. I look forward to being a part of further positive progression.

I was not expecting to see such an outdated indoor soccer facility. I don’t know what the $ 50+ fees per player, per season goes to but I guess most recently new turf was installed so that’s a plus! I was also not expecting the aroma of a boys locker room after football practice, or rather a soccer game, when entering the facility! Wow, they should definitely add a new ventilation system when deciding what to update next! Summertime is torture as air conditioning is either unavailable or limited. A couple large fans are running but it just isn’t enough to keep the facility at a comfortable temperature. It feels like a sauna when you enter so prepare yourself by wearing light clothing & bring a cold drink. Players prepare yourselves as well as it’s worse when playing than sitting on the bench watching! Bring a towel & lots of cold water! There is snack bar located in the back of the facility that serves hotdogs, popcorn, snacks, sodas & a limited selection of microbrews. A seating area is set up for families & friends, or even players after a game, to eat, drink & watch a soccer game or if they rather, watch a sport on the 72″ flat screen. A selection of soccer gear is available for purchase if one decides to join a team or two, or needs to replace their own gear. Reasonable prices for kids to adults sizes. You can rent this place out for birthday parties or special occasions for under $ 100 per hour. For the event, they’re cool with you bringing your own beverages & ordering pizza from an outside vendor if you’re not interested in purchasing food from the snack bar. Definitely join in the fun of indoor soccer, meeting new people & enjoying a cold one after a game with your teammates!

I love love love to play soccer. That’s the only reason I keep coming back to this shit hole.

This place is just so Portland. It’s got that funk feel to it, plus it’s old, and out of date and the ceilings are the lowest that I have ever seen in any indoor facility in my life. There’s some old benches for the players, and then there are benches for the«fans» to sit on and watch the game. The colors are great — royal blue, and kelly green, old dark brown carpet everywhere that there isn’t crappy turf. Being new to town, and putting your name up on the board does end in a few options… but not as many as I thought it would. I got on a 3rd division team mid-season about a month after putting my name up. Maybe longer. Then I just got a call recently — 5 months after putting my name up about playing on a couple teams. So, that was probably the most frustrating thing about this place — everyone want to play, and that can make finding a team difficult. During the summer, it’s easier since no one wants to play in the sauna… so, just be patient. The best part of all is that if you can find a cool team to hang out with — there’s beer by the glass/pitcher at one end of the field. I do like a lot of things, but a few cold ones after a solid game of soccer ranks right up at the top.
