Pussycat Tattoo

Walked in and asked to get a smaller symbol like tat on my hand and was turned away. They claimed this was not a part of their policy. For tattoos on your hand it has to be on the back of your hand. Not on or near your palm… I was quite disappointed…

I will never go back. Saad did my tattoo and I’m very disappointed. It healed leaving squiggly lines. It looks like someone took a pen a drew on my arm. Maybe other artists here are good but I will never get another one done by him.

Went in last minute for some lettering, everything about this shop was rad! Clean, professional, affordable, and Matt my artist was skilled and just cool people! Thanks guys

I made the trip from Los Angeles to see Cameron Randall, to add to my tattoo that he has been working on at True Tattoo in Hollywood. Once again he did not disappoint! He is an amazing artist and very creative. Pussycat is a great shop, clean, friendly, with talented artists from what I saw, very fun vibe in the place.

I will only ever go to Pussycat Tattoo, and they are the only ones I will recommend. I got both of my tattoos done here; one by Thom, the other by Matt, and both of them did exemplary work. My dad has had all 4 of his tattoos done here, also by Thom and Matt. The atmosphere is clean –sterile, even (which is good) – but still comfortable and inviting. The customer service is top notch, they go out of their way to make sure you’re getting exactly what you want. They make sure you are completely comfortable, and are willing to stop and take a break whenever you need it. Your level of comfort is like a sixth sense to these guys. They are not only wonderful artists, they are great people to be around, and really go out of their way to make your experience worth while.

I have had four tattoos done here by three artists, and I love every one of my pieces (see the pic I posted with the arrow, deer, and forest). It’s such a great atmosphere! I’ve always felt comfortable, and everything is always clean.
Not only are the artists personable, but they have been able to accommodate my changes as we went along. I got exactly what I wanted.
The pricing is very reasonable. It’s a steal!
I’ve been planning my next piece to get here for awhile now!

I am so disappointed! I was referred to PussyCat Tattoo by friends. I found out that they base their prices on who you ask for. Otherwise, they just guess? Was told $ 140 — $ 180. The next day, was quoted $ 130 — $ 140. I got them down to $ 100 cash/​per tattoo. Great! 3 of us showed. Friday night at 8:43p. Doors unlocked. Lights on. We all wanted the same tattoo. Very simple. 99% black, 1% green. I brought the picture with me. Good. Just trace it out and lets go. Nope. They have nobody that can help us. «He» stated that they were already closed. At 8:30p. On a Friday? Really? 3 people x $ 100 = $ 300. Cash. Maybe 30 – 40 minutes max per tattoo. The door states that they are open on Fridays until 10p? What am I missing? Why close at 830? Why the discount on the tattoos? Was tired of the BS. They wanted to schedule our tattoos out for the next day. For 1. The 2^nd and 3^rd will be out for 3 days later and at different times. I also had 8 more people that wanted the same tattoo. Guess you lost out! Someone else just received your $ 1100. I would say «Better luck next time.» However, there will never be a next time for me. As well as, for the other 8 people. They are very pleased and will be sending all of their referrals to the other tattoo facility that completed all of our tattoos. You loose!!! Doesn’t make for very good business sense does it? Apparently you all make enough money off of the other jokers that put up with your games. Not us ladies! Wise up! Go somewhere else!!!

Erick did my tattoo and I love it. He was wonderful! Everyone else who worked there seemed really nice too. Will definitely come back here for my next one.

Got 2 tattoos from Thom. He is super knowledgeable about tattooing. He gave me some good info on other tattoos I want in the future. He did a great job in making sure he was doing exactly what I’d asked for. I LOVE the work he did for me! I would recommend Pussycat Tattoo to anyone who is interested in getting a tattoo! All the staff was friendly and the place is comfortable and relaxing!

Matt Shaver is outstanding! I had a general idea and a couple of specific requests (Hawaiian style tribal with Pacific Northwest elements along with a royal insignia) and let him take artistic license and he blew me away. The final tattoo was more than I hoped for and even the Hawaiians in my family loved it, which says a lot! Thanks Matt! Can’t wait for the next one!

Got an incredible leg piece by David Goldstein! This shop is clean and has good prices. The artist spent a lot of time customizing my tattoo to fit my leg. Took him hours but it looks incredible. I’m so happy with it. They have lots of flash art to choose from as well. Definitely worth it.

Got a tattoo of the cartoon character Amethyst 5 months ago by I believe it was Matt, he was the absolute best!
He got so excited and asked if he could take a picture and show his kid cause they love the show it’s from. It was awesome!
I’m hoping to head back soon cause the best!

Matt Shaver is a super talented artist and kind soul. He is quiet and reserved, but so funny once you get to know him.
I’ve had the honor of being tattooed by him for over the last ten years. Being a tattoo artist myself, I am obviously very picky about who tattoos me. He is an exemplary artist with skills that range from Japanese, Old School, highly technical to super cute… he can do it and do it well. My lines and color have lasted and still look great after all these years. He makes me feel comfortable and I look forward to getting more work with him in the future.
The shop itself is clean, fun and the counter service is great. No drama here! The energy in this shop is fantastic and everyone seems to work well together. With off street parking and places to eat and drink close by, you should check it out.

I went here looking to get tattooed that night. I had the picture in mind, well, technically on my phone, placement in mind, and was totally ready to sit for the next hour or two while needles were repeatedly stabbed into my skin. Sadly, there was no one available to do it that night. I believe it was a Thursday and it was already like 7:30 pm. They had appointments, but I got one for the following night at 8!
First of all, the fact that I could get an appointment, the NEXT NIGHT at such an awesome tattoo shop, with the NICEST staff I have ever met; that just floored me.
Erick was the one who did my tattoo, and he made sure there was nothing for me to worry about. He and my guests, I guess one would call them, we’re cracking jokes left and right, and just talking about the best subjects to get your mind off of the sting of needles. He could always tell when I was about to laugh, and being a full bodied laugher, would pause so I could get it out of my system.
Erick made me feel ridiculously comfortable in a place I had only been to once before, with people I had met for the first time.
THIS WAS BY FAR, MY BEST TATTOOING EXPERIENCE. I plan on coming back to Pussycat, if not specifically Erick, for the rest of my tattoos.

Got my first tattoo here and I loved their service and the quality!!! The only thing that I wasn’t a fan of was their lack of reviewing aftercare guidelines. My tattoo has healed beautifully though and I get compliments on it everywhere I go! Definitely recommend them for someone looking for a reasonable priced tattoo in a friendly parlor :)

I love my foot tattoo the people that work there are warm and welcoming. The people their are extremely informative and relaxed which is nice since it was my first time. I filled out paper work we looked at some tattoos discussed position and coloring. Gene, my tattoo artist, drew out a brief sketch. I was nervous because it didn’t look like there was enough detail but wow he really got the detail done after. He was trying to talk but I was grinding my teeth so much I made it impossible. I love the tattoo he did more than what I had expected.

This place is clean, efficient and the artists here are nice. Based on 2 referrals for this shop, I booked an appointment for my second tattoo. Erik was very chill while I was freakishly nervous. This can be firmly blamed on the physiological damage of the first tat experience (7 yrs earlier elsewhere) and an annoying needle phobia which shouldn’t connect but it does. He was in tune with keeping up conversation until the anxiety was gone. It came out so well that I came back a month later to have the old one touched up. Erik did a little freehand magic on the old tattoo and I left a happy girl.
Thinking it might be time to get some new ink…

Best tattoo parlor in town. I’ve gone for two different tattoos and kind all their work. Ask for Erik or Gene both do awesome work. I’m sure everyone does great work but they did mine.

Got a tattoo from Matt Shaver at Pussycat Tattoo last night and love it! He did what I wanted, the tattoo was done very fast and the price was reasonable.
The shop itself is pretty busy, the guys are all friendly in there. They take a down payment of $ 40 which is to secure your appointment, but if you change your mind or cancel, it is non-​refundable, so be prepared to pick out your artwork and or bring in a decent design for them to go off of.
It is also very clean, safe and organized professionally!

I guess I’m not qualified to give a 5-​star review to a tattoo parlor as I’ve had one tattoo for all of four days now. But hey, it was the best tattoo I’ve ever had, so I’m smacking down all 5.
Before going to Pussycat, I dropped in on many of P-town’s most reputable tat joints and flipped through a lot of artists’ portfolios. Some places were more comfortable than others, some places were too hip to give newbies the time of day. The best artists in our area were booking out two months and I just wanted to get on with it.
So a friend of mine who is a walking canvas said to go to Matt at Pussycat, down on McLoughlin. One day while Ms. A and I happened to be down that way, we stopped in.
It’s a clean, well-​lighted place with a friendly boisterous atmosphere and — aside from a couple occasional dweebs waiting in the lobby — great people. Short story, I had my appointment 6 days later and Matt did a fantastic job. And too boot, they played all the best of the Clash while I endured the pain. If I could have requested a soundtrack for my first tat, that would probably be it.
Matt’s a fairly taciturn fellow, a serious artist. He’s a big Texan with a buzz cut, hornrims and a big American car. He has an aversion to Austin and doesn’t like getting tattoos (although he has plenty). He might be on his way to being a curmudgeon. These aren’t the kind of qualities you’re likely to find in a Northeast Portland artist, thus they’re refreshing.
If you want a more interactive experience you might check in with Gene or Rose, also at Pussycat. But Matt gave me exactly the tat I wanted and got it done in well under the estimate. It might be my first but it won’t be my last!
