Sour beer, upscale pub food
History
Established in 1998.
Art Larrance, one of founding fathers of craft brewing in Oregon, established Cascade Brewing and the Lodge in 1998. Together with Brewmaster Ron Gansberg, the pair designed and installed an 10 bbl brewhouse on the ground floor and began brewing traditional ales to complement the local handcrafted pub food served in the dining room. Nearly a decade later, they started experimenting with their beers, looking for something that would offer an intense sensory experience apart from the bitterness of hops. Drawing upon local resources — an abundant supply of barrels from the wine region and access to some of the best fruit in the nation — they began developing a portfolio of Northwest Style Sour Ales that is now pleasing palates throughout the beer industry and across the world.

Business Owner
Art Larrance has been involved in Oregon’s craft beer industry since its inception and is considered one of the seven founding fathers of the Oregon craft brewing industry. He co-founded one of the state’s first microbreweries, Portland Brewing, as well as the Oregon Brewers Festival, which today is one of the world’s preeminent craft beer festivals. He helped pass Oregon’s Brewpub law, paving the way for scores of pubs since. And he developed Cascade Brewing, a pioneer of the Northwest sour beer movement.
