These guys are flakes. Paid $ 5900 for a small patio cover and these clowns still have not finished it and it has been a month. Save your money and go elsewhere as these people are way overpriced and customer service is crap. Other than that they are ok

Terrible customer service! I called early. got voicemail. I left a message. No call back. When I called later, again voicemail saying they’re open until 7… it was 5 and they said they were closed. Business must be so good that they don’t need my business

Save your money and Take your business elsewhere. The sell crap wood for almost twice as much as Lowes. They shipped me cracked fencing and since it wasn’t within 90 days I was SOL. I had the wood stored in the garage as the weather turned to crap and couldn’t find a good time to complete. I figured it was 10 boards they would exchange them out since we spent a few grand there. Nope! Seriously You can purchased 20 cedar boards at Lowes for the price they would charge you for 10. With military you can get an additional 10% off! Do the math and save your money!

Rick’s built me a decent sized 6ft high cedar fence and gate about 5 months ago. I couldn’t have been more satisfied with the job they did. They thought of everything, like lining it up with the grout lines of a brick wall behind my fence, etc. They were very accommodating with my schedule for the initial consultation and met me after work– poor guy was measuring out in the rain. They even offered to replace any boards that turned whacky after drying but that wasn’t needed. They also removed and disposed of the chain link fence that I initially had. Long story short, they came recommended to me by a friend and I highly recommend them now too.

very disappointed in their customer service. they don’t have any; they are not friendly either. we’ll see how the gate works out; did not have much customer service at all while they were installing; I was handicapped and couldn’t get outside to inspect their work. they only gave me one key for my gate; my husband though two would’ve been nice and I was stupid for not asking for a second.

This is an excellent fencing company. We had 1500 sq ft of semi-​commercial grade cyclone fencing placed around our property. They were timely, had competitive pricing, excellent customer service, and Joseph and Casey the installers were meticulous and wonderful to work with. I’d highly recommend them!

dont waste your money here. we purchased $ 1000 of cedar planks and posts for our backyard fence project. they delivered the wood in the rain and it was pretty wet when it arrived. we put it on the covered deck to allow it to dry for a few days before our project was to start that weekend. as we were installing it i noticed that there were quite a few warped boards and boards with knots and holes. Nothing could be done about it at this point. we had already rented the equipment and had friends over to help. rescheduling would have been a mess especially since the previous fence was now down. we finished the fence and painted it. two years later and the fence looks like shit! there are so many warped boards. and when i say warped i dont mean slightly. also, the boards that had knots now have holes as the most of the knots have fallen out. we couldve purchased better quality wood from home depot and for much less than 1k. we now need to do the south and east sides of our property and we wont be calling ricks. also, as far as their customer service is concerned? crappy. the guy who delivered the wood was a jerk.

At first I was impressed with the customer service at Rick’s. The salesman, Aaron, was friendly and polite and seemed to understand what I was looking for — 50 feet of materials for a picture frame-​style fence (I had the brochure in hand), with the intention of adding the other 150 feet of materials as my budget allows. The prices were reasonable, and when I paid for this batch of materials I also picked up brochures for decking and pergolas (future projects after the fence is complete).
Upon returning a week later to pick up the materials, my friend and I realized that 14 pieces of trim were missing from the order. The guys who loaded the materials were polite and offered to find Aaron inside to fix the problem. Aaron proceeded to blame me for his mistake in misunderstanding what I had ordered and told me the price for the trim would be an extra $ 45. The money was not that big a deal — however it should have been included in the original invoice. When I asked for a discount to make up for the confusion (and his lack of apology), his response was «no, I can’t do that, the computer locks the prices in». (Apparently the computers are all-​powerful at Rick’s). I paid for the missing trim and left the salesroom in tears. If I want to be blamed for someone else’s mistake, I don’t need to pay someone — I have teenaged stepchildren.
As for my future purchase of fencing ($ 1,500+), decking ($ 1,000+), and pergola ($ 800+) materials, I won’t be going back to Rick’s. They guarantee happy customers, but a customer leaving the salesroom in tears (observed by more than two staff members) is clearly not a happy customer.
Oh, and my friend? He’s a contractor. He won’t be shopping at Rick’s again either.

I really enjoyed working with Rick’s from original estimate to completion of the work. Tracy and James did a great job and were very professional.

Rick’s just finished up our back deck and did a magnificent job! It’s beautiful and just how we pictured it would be. Shout out to SCOTT AND TRAVIS! Thanks for all your hard work and how quickly the job was completed.

This is a review about their lumber supply. I’ve bought items here a couple times and this last visit was the last time I’ll ever go here for lumber. I can’t vouch for their fence building quality but their lumber is definitely less than stellar. I’ve bought fence post caps here (the ones made with cedar and with balls on top) as well as some PT posts and small 1x cedar material. Basically — their lumber is almost as bad as Home Depot’s, except at least a Home Depot they will let you pick through and choose your own boards. I am building a picket fence at my house and I’ve spent a lot of time and money on it. I bought most of my material elsewhere, but thought I’d pick up 14 6′ 1×4 cedar boards to finish it off here at Ricks. I purchased the boards and the guys indiscriminately grab 14 boards and put them in my truck. I glance at them and they are terrible quality. I’m talking about completely raw sides, warped beyond usability, holes, and obvious insect damage. I ask if I can look them over and swap out the bad ones and the employee tells me they are not suppose to let me do that. These are going to be finish boards for my fence, that everyone will see, and I tell them that if I can’t swap them out and get what I paid for — I’ll go somewhere else. They said «ok» and I went to get a refund. I could understand if I was buying 60 boards, but 14? Really? I can’t stress enough how bad the quality of their lumber is — I just went to home depot and saved some money and picked my own boards. Every other place I buy lumber in the Portland metro area lets me pick my own boards. Do yourself a favor and buy your lumber somewhere else if you are completing your own project.

We got a quote for building a new fence in our backyard that was over 150ft total. Rick’s quote was higher than others but liked the idea of having them just put the posts in and build the 2 gates we wanted. Dan (the quote guy) ensured us that if we had any questions during the build to call and someone «would be happy to help». The only reason I didn’t give this 1 star is b/​c the guys who came put the posts/​gates in did it in a downpour and didn’t stop. Granted, they made one gate larger than we expected and the other was completely lop-​sided and uneven. Not to mention they forgot to bring the post caps we ordered and forgot the NAILS! (Kind of important when building a fence)
Not being very handy, I thought «how hard could it be?». We ended up having to have a handyman friend come over to help us out b/​c the directions to build the rest of the fence were so vague and not helpful at all for the novice. Perhaps Rick’s should assess their customer’s knowledge base and handyman experience and make recommendations from there. I called the store for assistance (as Dan said I could) and my name and phone number were taken down — 5 TIMES, with no phone call back. And when I did call, I was put on hold forever. Once I was even told «we are busy here at the store so we can’t talk right now, can we call you back?». Finally someone came out to look at the gates and explain to us why our posts were at different heights and not face front (causing a problem with our cap rails). Their solution to fixing our posts that were cut too short (and uneven with each other) was to nail an additional 2 inches of post to the top of both posts. Which just made them taller and still uneven. The post looks like crap with a huge exposed cut space between the post and the part they attached. We were about 10 boards short in order to complete the fence so we went to Mr. Plywood to buy them. We were shocked at how much cheaper the price of the wood was AND it was better quality wood.
If you are looking to build a fence — shop around. Just b/​c Rick’s is well known they are not the best in quality and are awful with customer service follow through. Truly a disappointment.

Rick’s has been my company’s fence techs for some years now. We recently had a bus back into our parking lot fence and damage a few slats. We haven’t had Rick’s come out for anything for like 3 years (testimony to the craftsmanship holding up under tough OR winters).
We called them up to have them inspect it if they had a tech in the area within the week, but they had a guy come by the next day and I figured he would just look at it and report back. He actually replaced the slats in no time and we weren’t even charged.
Prompt and reliable service is what you get here folks.
