Rocket Fizz Portland

Charlotte was tremendous in offering the best Customer service on Monday April 18^th, 2016, though my order was small. I got a complete History of the Soda’s… I shall return :)

This has the look and feel of an old school candy shop. You can buy prepackaged or go crazy filling a bag with your own candy assortments.
I was traveling for business, so I thought this was a great place to pick up little gifts for the kids.

Place was a little dirty looking and sorta messy, but they had some fun stuff. Have to say the taffy isn’t all that great which is basically why I came.

Super nice staff, and great selection of products! You really can’t beat the atmosphere here. It’s fun to see all of the novelty/​vintage items they stock, and you can get really great candy and soda, too. Now, if they’d only carry Maynard’s Wine Gums… hint, hint, hint!

For Christmas presents I was making candy message cards for each of my friends.
I planned out all the candies I needed and went shopping for them at the grocery store.
I found 25 candies but was missing missing the last two, fun dip and pop rocks.
So I decided to look up speciality candy stores to finish my candy search.
Upon walking into Rocket Fizz, I felt like a kid again.
I was surrounded by so many sugary delicious treats.
They have retro candy, all the normal candies of today, a whole section of just hello kitty inspired candy etc.
Their soda pop selection was beyond impressive.
Would you like to enjoy a maple bacon soda?
Well you can if you come here.
They also have a ton of vintage signs and posters hanging up all around the store.
I walked around for a little and could not find fun dip or pop rocks so I asked for help.
The guy with the cool mustache told me they are sold out of pop rocks and haven’t had fun dip for two months. I was super disappointed.
But he was set on helping me so I told him I needed a candy to fit in place of fun dip for this sentence.
You are a great friend and so much (fun) to be around.
We didn’t find anything :(but he did find rock candy for me which worked in place of pop rocks.
Rocket Fizz is a little more expensive than if you just go to the grocery store but it’s worth it to come here if you would like non traditional candy and interesting flavors of soda pop.

This is another one of my new favorites. They have an amazing selection of soda varieties and I’m hooked on going back for more. I do wish they were a bit more wallet friendly, but the prices aren’t terrible either. After drinking the variety of bottled sodas from this place, I have a hard time returning to standard fountain sodas of Pepsi and Coco Cola.

Do you like candy? Specifically, do you really like prepackaged candy, especially from earlier eras, or lands across the sea?
Do you like soda pop? Do you really like soda pop? Do you like lots of flavors?
If you can answer «yes» to all these questions, then you should visit Rocket Fizz.
However, let me tell you why I’ve been there: They carry Jelly Babies.
If you aren’t a Doctor Who fan, I’ll explain. Jelly Babies are a chewy, fruit-​flavored candy, commonly associated with the Doctor Who TV series on the BBC. They were first mentioned on the show in 1973, but were made commonplace by Tom Baker, who played the 4^th Doctor during the later 1970s.
Jelly Babies aren’t commonly available in the United States, but some candy stores, which carry candies from the UK, do have them. Rocket Fizz is such a candy store.
Unfortunately, during my last visit in late 2015, they were sold out. It was still fun browsing the wide assortment of candies, though.

The prices are a little crazy but I was shopping for the imports. The staff is bend over backwards friendly and will try and order items they don’t carry, if they can. There’s so much to look at it’s dizzying. I haven’t really explored but I’ve enjoyed just about everything I’ve purchased and. the staff really make the place the reason to visit. After the extensive collection of the hard-​to-​find candies and sodas, of course.
You can go for the experience and the staff and to try new things but some items can be had elsewhere for cheaper.

This is a very small shop downtown near Macy’s. It’s just very unlikely that you would run into this type of place amidst the sophisticated downtown Portland area. There are many old-​fashioned sodas that are fun to look at but I’m a bit narrow on trying them. Ranch Dressing soda? Bacon soda? I don’t think so. lol. They have a lot of unique and old candies that were around when I was a child. There are many clever posters hanging on the wall and lots of just odd little toys. I love this place and every time I’m in Portland I will stop by.

This place is awesome! They have candy from around the world. They have Mexican, Japanese, Swedish etc. They also have all the American candies and the classics. Lots of toys and goodies here. The staff is very nice and friendly!

I walked for the second time in a couple of months. The first time, they didn’t even acknowledge me. His time, it happened again. Then a customer walked in behind me after I had walked past them and they greeted him. Not ever going to come here again. I wouldn’t recommend it either. Prices are high. Terrible customer relation services.
Update: I was contacted by the owner. This was a surprise for me. I would like to thank Jason for reaching out and changing my opinion. Because of his kindness and sincerity, I will be giving this store another chance. Proof that business owners do care and want their customers to feel like they would want to come back. I will visit this store again and give it another chance.

Best 90s music blasting in the background with so many craft sodas along with other tchotckes on the wall that made me remember my childhood in the 80s. I felt old, but got over it with the greatest Cadbury assortment AND WALNETTOS! I love penny candy and this place made me go into a coma. I mean I pretty much lost it when I saw the assortment of big league chew and I’m surprised that I did not go into a diabetic coma while in this store.

Probably the best candy store i’ve ever been too. Also specializes in obscure flavors of soda (including a house brand). If you are looking for some interesting and exotic candy and soda, definitely check this out.

ASTRO POPS!!! This place actually carries Astro Pops. Awesome! Okay, with that out of my system, I can get to the review. At a window shopper’s passing glance Rocket Fizz is just another candy peddler but it is, in fact, an eclectic hodgepodge of nostalgic sights, sounds and smells. The place is filled with candies that you thought you’d never see again and even some you’ve never seen before. They have a huge selection of sodas, a wall full of saltwater taffy, tons of reprinted concert posters, gag gifts and the list goes on. Where else could you find a full sized edible gummy Gumby, beer flavored jelly beans right next to a dashboard Jesus? Not… that… I’m… interested… in any of that. But it’s really fun to browse through their inventory. I’ll bet you could stop in everyday for weeks and find something new each time. An amazing selection of novelties and a one way ticket to the dentist all rolled into one. Check it out!

I love this place. I actually go here so much the staff knows me at this point. I really like craft sodas and I think they have about 700 varieties in the store. It’s a great place for gifts, from retro candy to sodas and miscellaneous trinkets like tin signs or bacon band-​aids. Great place for kids and adults and perfect for Christmas time when you want to get someone something small but can’t think of anything!
They have a lot of novelty sodas like ranch dressing or maple syrup, which sounds disgusting, but good to note, anyway.

Rocket fizz is the best.
Julianna and Charlotte rocked, for a Sunday night, they made sure the experience was awesome and all our questions answered promptly and expertly.
We are fans for life.

Getting here was hellish but I suppose much more can’t be expected in any major city’s downtown. I found exactly what I was looking for; it wasn’t candy or soda but a tin lunch box I had been desperate to find. The store is pretty big. Lots of room to walk around and get lost in the soda and candy selections. The walls are decorated with old signs, bobble heads, figurines, lunch boxes, and knick-​knacks galore. This place is pretty cool, albeit pricey. I wouldn’t go out of my way to shop here again but do tout it as a must-​see.

This was a cool place to stop for a few minutes while walking through the square. The ranch dressing soda was definitely the most unique thing that I encountered here. Lots of salt water taffy flavors, unique toys and candy you couldn’t get anywhere else. Enjoyed!

Very cool candy/​soda shop.
I don’t really have That much of a sweet tooth for this stuff, but it was cool looking around at all the different varieties of sodas and candy.

Rocket Fizz is like Baskin-​Robbins, but for soda. Even salad dressing on occasion become the basis for their flavors. So many flavors are simply turned into soda here. Yes, this is a soda store more than a candy store.
I have however gotten imported Green Tea Kit Kat. But with all the varieties of candy and soda, something will please you. Rocket Fizz and it’s variety packed into a medium-​sized store is a good addition to Downtown Portland. Their soda usually is Rocket Fizz or Lester’s brands.
Rocket Fizz is a wonderful store. It’s fun at chum change.

This may just be my favorite store of all time. While walking downtown to Pioneer Square, my SO and I spotted this gem on the corner and had to stop in. This is a candy store made for adults. Most cany shops pack as much candy per square inch as they can to increase margins, but this giant shop felt a bit more like an Apple Store, with sparse table tops filled with unique candies.
Rocket Fizz has imported candy from around the world, as well as the standard boring american stuff. I spent a good deal of my childhood in England, so I came in looking for Smarties (think M&M’s but not as sweet with Nestle chocolate instead of Mars) and was not disappointed.
My wife picked out a few cream sodas from the huge selection of indie soda makers, and we also packed a bag of salt-​water taffy with unique flavors such as orange creamsicle and cinnamon roll.
When we went to pay, the bill was far less than we expected and the clerk told us we could probably jam about 10 more taffy’s into our bag and it would be the same price.
I will go back here when back in Portland.

Organized Chaos. No rhyme or reason, but wonderful sugary goodness and kitch everywhere you look. Rocket Fizz is a child and adult wonderland of bad for your teeth but make your dentist extremely happy sort of a place. That was a mouthful.
They have every type of small label soda imaginable, including their own brand. Smores soda, bacon soda, colas of every kind and even sodas like Bawls. Retro candy all over and newer items like a sour patch gecko? Energy candy. Pop Rocks and cool retro signage and even replica concert posters for just over 10 bucks.
You do have to like a big Hello when you walk in the door. This place is rather large for a candy shop and there are many, many things to choose from. There were quite a few options for salt water taffy alone. But I was surprised that it was the only candy in bulk that you could get. Everything else was packaged. So that was something that I was disappointed about. It was still a cool place that I can’t wait to take my kiddo to when she visits this summer.
