Rose Quarter Transit Center

I’ve used this transit center on more than one occasion over time. It’s in an excellent location near the Steel Bridge on the way to North Portland. This transit center is nicely kept up, has a «snack shack,» and it’s cool and kind of dramatic being so near whatever we’re calling it now (oh yeah, The Moda Center) and The Steel Bridge. These are all the good things about this location. The bad thing is the signage in order to find connecting bus routes to NE Portland. I’ve wandered around here and missed a bus because of that. It won’t happen again because I now have it figured out, but Tri-​Met could have done a far better job on the signage here.

This place works out just fine. Between the two different max train platforms and all the bus stops you can be on your way to any part of the city.
It seems to me like I never need to wait long for any connecting transfer to arrive.
I think the only thing that could improve this transit station would be better signs. Maybe signs that were much bigger. I often find myself helping others to get to the proper area to catch their bus/​train.

Rose Quarter Transit Center is a cliché hub for Portland’s transportation. Lots of trains and buses meet here and there’s just one stupid coffee stand. Right next to the Rose Quarter Arena, you have a station that will take you wherever your heart contends it wants to go, if by extension involving the airport and the Amtrak by a MAX ride to those places.
The launchpad for taking over the world starts here. You are about to charge across the Steel Bridge. The buses come frequently, though so do frequent ramblers. Sometimes, it does have a tacky quality to it, but this is part of a journey.
Here you’ll start the domino of going to anywhere from Halsey to Hungary, to Clackamas or China. The trains have lots of platforms provided to them.
This is a rosy station.

so much easier than I thought it would be. Rode the max and the bus. Drivers were good about answering questions.

Oh, another transit center. That’s the thing about transit centers, once you get to one, it usually takes you to another. And they all do the same thing, take you from point A to point B and back, again. Sometimes, when you are feeling really crazy, you make go to point C, too.

You can get pretty much anywhere you need to be from here. If you get lost, come here, you will surely find your way.
Great option for avoiding traffic on the way into blazers games, by just hopping the max and riding on in! Lots of folks exercise this option, so be forewarned. The crowded max, however, is typically worth the saved aggravation of game-​day traffic and expense of parking nearby.

In ancient times, all roads led to Rome, but in modern Portland, all roads lead to Rose – Rose Quarter Transit Center, that is. If you’re going across town by MAX or bus, you’ll likely end up stopping at or traveling through Rose Quarter TC. My commute brings me to this hub of transportation twice a day.
I often wonder how many bikes, trains and buses cruise through the place on a daily basis. The buses and the trains don’t easily mesh their schedules, but I’ve pretty much got it wired at this point. Yeah, sometimes there’s a bit of a wait for a bus, and they aren’t always on time, but it still beats the heck out of driving.
This stop is reasonably safe and there’s usually transit cops patrolling the general vicinity. We’re really lucky to have such reliable and relatively clean public transportation.

I spend so much time here, I may as well review it. Although what can you say, really; It’s a transit center. As far as Portland transit centers go, this one is pretty uniqe in that all four Max lines stop here, and is within the free sail zone. Its proximity to the Rose Garden means a lot of people park and ride here which works for me, as when I am waiting for my bus in the dark the amount of people makes me feel safer. My beef is with the crosswalk heading towards the 35 to Macadam stop. It’s awkward placement causes many cars to plow through even when I have the right of way. I honestly fear for my life here. Actually, all the crosswalks here suck. The streets are huge and the lights are short. My advice: walk quickly.
Boy this is pretty boring. But I have nothing better to do while waiting for my bus…
