Really enjoyed this place. Parking was easy to find on the street, but there was also a parking lot right out back. The owner was really sweet and welcoming and it sounds like he and his wife also run a school in a different part of the café on weekdays. We went on a weekend morning so that my daughter could play and I could get some work done while being able to keep an eye on her. It was great fun, with delicious coffee and a treat. I got my daughter the miniature sized cocoa cup — while the price of the cocoa seemed steep for the amount, I didn’t mind because it means she’s drinking less sugar and she didn’t mind because she got a bit of cocoa, but I could totally imagine some folks not wanting that. The place seemed really clean, well-designed, safe, and we will definitely return. My daughter’s old enough where I could let her run around on her own, so I couldn’t really say how it would feel to be in the play area with a younger one. The toys ranged from train sets, to two sets of kitchens, loads of books, a dollhouse, shopping cart, the huge house with steps and a slide, and more toys in all the bucket drawers next to the wall. All the kids seemed happy and when the time was nearer to 11am, it pretty much cleared out minus a couple groups — I’m guessing because of nap times. Comparing like with like, a really good play café and larger than most. Folks may feel differently if they’re comparing with an indoor play gym or something like that, but that’s definitely not what I was looking for.

Came here with my 3 year old to meet my friend with a 9 month old. The kids had a great time playing and it was a cute place. It’s a little on the small size for a place of this nature but we came early and didn’t have a problem with any overcrowding. The owner was really friendly– my coffee and food were really great and I think it’s good value. If I lived on this side of town I would definitely come back. I think it’s an appropriate place for crawlers to age 4ish.

This place is just wonderful. Good food and good selection of food, great coffee and best of all, a really bright and beautiful play area. There’s a clear delineation between the café space and the play space so that as an adult, you can have a peaceful meal, but there’s a seating bar overlooking the play area so you can keep an eye on your kids. The selection of toys is fantastic and there are so many fun play spaces– a reading nook, a grocery store, a treehouse/slide area that my 1.5 yr old played for hours without needing much from me. The owner is really friendly and helpful too. A really relaxing spot for someone with a toddler!

Too chaotic & small for the amount of kids(apparently there’s no capacity limit) no outside food allowed & for a picky toddler that is NOT a good thing. Overall just too LOUD&DIRTY. Never once saw anyone cleaning & we were there for a good hour & a half. Needless to say my child became sick the following day & I was not really surprised as to how. There were also a few older kids, 2 boys & a girl, that seemed to belong to an employee that were bossing all the other kids around. Bottom line is avoid this place. You can do a lot better. However, in an effort not to be a total di*k, I will say that they had really good coffee!

Discovered this place a few months ago and have enjoyed every visit since! The owners are very friendly. The dressing on the pecan salad is light and delicious plus tons of feta cheese, you can’t go wrong! The kids play area is huge. Lots to do for all ages. My daughter is four and loves playing in the house loft and going down the slide. Portland needs more of these cafes where busy moms can meet with friends, study or read a book while the kiddos get to run off some steam and make new friends. I’m happy to drive across town to Roseway Play Café until they open one in my neighborhood! Ahem… that would be N Portland, just so you know ;)

What a sweet new play café spot! They serve café Umbria — which for the coffee snobs like myself is a good thing! They have decent food menu options and the play space is really nice and clean. To make the experience more pleasurable the owner was a real gem! We will most certainly go back again! Two suggestions– sibling rate and/or punch card AND La deal like pied piper café where the kid fee is waved if you purchase a certain amount.

This was our first and last time going to this play café. They have a great play area even a Spanish story time. However the menu is very limited and they are pretty strict about bringing your own augmentation of sides. Hey I spent $ 13 maybe I can give my kid some yogurt. Healthy food options are important. Pizza and Mac n cheese are not great options. If you get there before lunch time it is even more limited especially in the healthy department. There are too many play café/family friendly options in PDX to warrant a return visit.

Love this play café! It’s clean, bright, and tons of fun! I brought my almost 2 y/o nanny boys to play today and they had such a blast. There is an abundance of toys along with a play structure and slide. There was so much for the boys to do! It’s so nice to find a play café that is actually clean and safe! The play area and café are separated by a half wall, so you can drink your coffee while keeping on eye on the kids. The café side is nice and classy. I didn’t try out any of the food today, but the coffee was delicious! Can’t wait to go back!

On my way out of town on a flight. Stopped here and had the turkey croissant. It was truly delicious. The place is clean and trendy. Kids running around playing was kind of entertaining. Highly recommended…

Took my grandkids for the 1st the other day. They loved it! We were there for over 2 hrs and they were entertained the entire time. It’s easy to watch your kids from the bar seating area. The place is clean and the staff was friendly. Good food, good coffee, and fair prices! Can’t go wrong!

Great place to take the kiddos. Nice latte and adult area while you can still keep an eye on your little ones. And only $ 3 to boot!

Very friendly atmosphere and awesome healthy food! The rules for the play area are clearly written and common sense. They have a great two story playhouse with a slide, tons of toys, and keep everything as clean as if their own kids play there(which they do!) They have beer and wine for that time of the day, and are just a great place to hang out. Will definitely be coming back!

I’ve been here twice now and I’m sold! My 3 year old didn’t want to leave and the play area is adorable. I had yummy coffee in the morning with a muffin and honest juice for the kiddo. I’m self employed and I got 2 hours of work done almost uninterrupted. My hubby and I came later around 4 pm a few weeks back and had a beer. Owners are sweet and very friendly. Great addition to the neighborhood! Remember to bring socks for your kiddos. I’ll be back often!

I live all the way out in Rockwood and I continue to come to this place with my two year old daughter because it is well worth the drive! I greatly appreciate the concept of allowing my little one the freedom to explore and indulge while still having the ability to supervise her engagements. The owner is always polite and even remembered my name! This establishment exceeded my expectations in regards to the quality of the food, the variety offered in toy selection, the intimacy and security the play area offers, and the genuine care and attentiveness provided by the staff. If you have a toddler, you must check this place out!

Seriously. This place is SOGOOD. What a wonderful addition(and might I say game-changer) to the play café scene in Portland. GIGANTIC play structure with a turbo-tunnel slide that both my 3 year old and 18 month old can navigate. Great food, super clean and beautiful, amazing owners, free wifi with a wonderful workspace that overlooks the play area, and it’s full of natural light. No door to outside that my littles can easily escape from(which has kept me from going back to a couple of places). Tons of awesome toys and activities for the kids. There is even a gated area for babies. Both of my kids can reach the sink in the bathroom to wash hands and my 3 year old can access the toliet easily– dude, it’s the little things, but they are ALL well thought out at Roseway! Our first day in we spent the morning here, went home for naps and came back for playtime and dinner. Food was great and reasonably priced for kids and adults alike– the tortellini salad and the Caesar for adults were both lovely, and I got to enjoy a delicious IPA to boot. The kids had personal pizzas, juice boxes and applesauce and were thrilled. We totally closed the place our first time there! Everything is so well thought out, chic and yet warm and inviting. The owners are so sweet and have a family, so they really«get it». We are SO glad this place is here!

Awesome place! Been a couple of times and will make it a weekly trip. They have everything a young mom needs: beer, quick, delicious food and a play area for the babe. The owners are really sweet and their kids are darling as well. Probably best for the younger ones — one to four.

What a wonderful — and much needed — addition to the neighborhood! Play area is HUGE and you can sit on some chic bar stools at a wall-long window overlooking. Menu is perfect(includes Bake Shop pastries and decent coffee). My kids are just over 1 yr and 3.5 years and they had a great time. We will be back on a regular basis. They have play punch cards. Oh, and Bryan is super friendly. And lastly, they’ve got beer and wine!

We had a great time there. The owners were extemely nice and forgiving when my toddler made such a mess of things in the play area. The food is very good, with many healthy and yummy snacks. Can’t wait to go back and support our neighborhood café!
