We tried this place for the fist time today and found the service to be very good. Then we got our food. It was excellent, with generous portions. The price was pretty good too. We will be back.

Quick and inexpensive Chinese food! Service is awesome. Only problem is they moved to Gresham!

An authentic Chinese Restaurant that I get take out for once every 1 – 2 weeks. Very good service and a fast pickup(When they give you the brown bag of take out). The food is very fresh, hot, aromatic(great smell) and is most importantly delicious every time I eat from the Royal Garden

One of my regular places. Great customer service and their oolong tea is delicious. Highly recommend their orange chicken or their egg foo young. Very good.

Sometimes the food is good, sometimes, not so much. If you like waiting and crappy service then by all means, go.

Quality of food is inconsistant. Have had good meals and really poor meals. Service is so so.

The stretch of Sandy Blvd. between NE122nd and NE181st isn’t exactly an eye-catching bit of real estate. There’s a rail line and industrial area to one side, run-down apartments and strip malls to the other. However, there are a few good spots to eat hidden in that stretch, if you know where to look. Today I decided to stop in the sketchy looking strip mall just east of Sandy and 138th. Royal Garden is sandwiched between an independent video store and The Honey Pot(a doughtnut/ice cream/thai café) and doesn’t really look like much from Sandy. They have a large banner advertising their lunch buffet. I placed an order to-go, and didn’t really check out the place too closely, but it looked reasonable from what I could see. Like an average Chinese restaurant, functional but not fancy. The woman who took my order was clearly busy but was patient and polite while taking my order and answering my questions. The food was delicious! I ordered the kung pao chicken, and it was as good as any I’ve ever had. A little on the saucy side, but the chicken was torn into good-sized pieces, the veggies were fresh and in bite-sized chunks. Although I asked for extra-spicy, it was only somewhat spicy… but I am sure they’ll spice it up more for me next time. The portions were huge! I couldn’t finish any of it, although I spent more than an hour picking at it and trying. While not quite enough for two people to eat, it was certainly a great value for the $ 6.50 price. If you’re out in the Portland’s far NE and want some Chinese food, give this place a try. I’ve been looking for a decent Chinese restaurant in the area for months, and I’m glad I’ve finally found one. Thank you, Royal Garden, I’ll be back!
