My boyfriend and I have come here on multiple occasions because it’s so close to where we live. The atmosphere is nice and it’s clean, but food DESPERATELY needs some seasoning. I don’t think I’ve ever tasted food this bland. Both their beef and chicken burgers taste like there’s no salt at all. And the staff always have some drama going on. either they’re reluctant to serve you because they just want to leave to catch the end of the game(yes, we’ve actually been TOLD that!), or the waitress turns down the volume of all the tv’s so she can hear herself talk. Both true stories. It’s really a shame because the location is nice and they would do really well with the neighbors if only they stepped it up a bit.

It’s fine. Some of the food has good flavor but the service is terrible! My husband and I have been multiple times for both eat-in and take-out and it’s always really awkward, slow, and frankly frustrating. We live very close to this restaurant and it’s unfortunate the service is so terrible because we love sports and would otherwise go for various games. I’m not sure why the owners only focus on the Mexican restaurant next door as this place could be good if they put effort into it.

Food is just so so, a bit expensive, $ 8 house Margareta. Service just o.k. Waitress had just started, so didn’t know the menu. I miss Joe Esparza’s !!!

The service was a bit slow and they have a limited beer selection. I ordered a pizza and it was not very good. At all. Actually it was probably the most bland pizza I’ve ever eaten. Maybe I should have gone with a burger.

Tried this place for the first time. I was really not impressed with our waitress. I was with a group of people from work and we sat at our table for at least 10 minutes before the waitress came by. From that moment on, it was one disappointment after another. She took drink orders from one person at the table and took off. When she came back with it, I asked if I was able to get something to drink too(!?). She took a really long time to get the drink to the table. Next, we waited a long time for our food. I ordered a guacamole appetizer, my coworkers ordered entrees. When we finally got our food, she gave my guacamole to someone else at my table. We didn’t realize, thought she was coming back with mine. My coworker used the guacamole on his entrée because we thought it came with his food. When we asked her where my guacamole appetizer was and she realized her mistake, she laughed and acted like, «oh well», and walked off! She didn’t even offer to bring me a new one! I couldn’t believe it! I had to settle with what was left of the one my coworker had used on his tacos. I thought that was completely rude of the waitress. I probably will not go back to this place and it’s too bad for the owners of this restaurant because I can only imagine this waitress has pissed off other customers. To sum it up: very long wait times in between getting there, getting food, and if you think you are getting refills or another drink– think again. By the time they come back to your table, it’s time to leave. I’m a very patient person, and I usually tip very well at restaurants… but this place was a disappointment.

My mom was there last night and had a hair in her margarita. She told the owner and he just ignored her. She goes in there all of the time but not anymore.

Really question the motivation of the service staff. Sat for over 20 minutes without any contact regarding taking an order. Place was empty, so employee’s story seemed more interesting than taking my order. Not coming back.

This was our first trip to Portland, in town so my son could check out Portland State U. We found a lot of nice restaurants, but since we were downtown, none of these places had parking lots, and since it was raining, we didn’t want to walk many blocks if we were able to find street parking. So we just got onto Burnside Ave and drove west, crossing our fingers that we would find a decent place that wasn’t Subway. After driving a little ways we found the Home Field Grill, and boy did they make our day! We got there just before they got busy, within 30 minutes every table got busy. We started out with their appetizer sampler, which featured a quesadilla, chicken wings, chicken tenders and baby back ribs. Both chicken items were terrific. A great sauce on the wings, not very hot, but lots of flavor. Tenders had a nice breading, crunchy and very tasty. Ribs have a terrific sauce, and the salsa just made the quesadilla special. All in all, a great start. I ordered the Homefield burger, which has a lot of things going on. Lots of flavor, but be warned, it’s a big burger. My son had the Monte Cristo and was over the moon about it. The key to a good Monte Cristo is the French Toast, which in this case was light and airy. Too often they are too dense, and that wasn’t the case here. Finally my wife had the Birdy Club Sandwich, which will put most average club sandwiches to shame. Great fresh ingredients, but what made the sandwich special was the bread. It’s a jalapeño Cornbread yeast bread. Fantastic texture, wonderful flavor, just perfect. We ended the evening by sharing an order of homemade sopapillas. Great texture and flavor. But what made the dish was the homemade whipped cream. I challenge Unilocalers to find a better whipped cream anywhere. The whipped cream also accented my son’s brownie a la mode, which was blissfully warm and chocolatey. Two final notes… 1) Everything at this place is homemade and fresh. From the tortillas to the breads, it’s all homemade and it shows. 2) Others had complained about the service, we had no problems whatsoever. In fact, we saw outstanding service from Jessica and Maria. The place was jammed and it was only the two of them, yet they did not let the service suffer. In fact it was the opposite. They both hustled like crazy, and we wanted for nothing, as the drinks got refilled, the extra napkins showed up, all without us asking. Just superb service under very difficult circumstances. Anyway, if my son enrolls at PSU, we will definitely be coming back.

My husband and I were not excited to eat at the local strip mall home field grill but ended up actually enjoying the experience. We had a hotdog and beer. The food was good. It was tasty pub food. Service was great. We will definitely go back soon to eat and watch the playoffs.

Terrible service, good burger ! I ordered a burger and specifically asked for a side of soup instead of fries or salad. Bartender brought me both soup and fries by mistake. When i received my bill i noticed she charged me for both. When i brought the mistake to her attention, she argued with me. She supposedly spoke to the manager who apparently declined to remove one of the sides from the bill. If she was cool and sincerely apologetic about situation then i would have been ok. However, not only was she uncool about it but she referenced the cameras recording the conversation which would prove she was right. What, really??? Also, she speaks so fast as if she’s on 10 cups of coffee — or something else — no wonder i may have misunderstood her. My tip clearly reflected the level of service i received. Good luck and good riddens sandovals, $ 4 cost you a customer and earned this review. On a side note, she chased down an older lady who was walking towards the restroom just to get her drink order. The lady was visibly caught off guard and confused by the aggressive gesture. It was awkward.

WOW What a disappointment. Was headed to Biscuits next door this morning for breakfast but line was out the door. thought, Home Field looks cool. Lets try it out, Geez. a hostess came out from the bar area to greet us, told us to sit wherever, a few minutes later brought us a menu. that was the last time we ever saw a waitress. two were wondering around but never made it to our table to offer water, take our order, nada. after 20 minutes we left that joint. Service is obviously not a priority, they were catering to the bar-flies instead of the people who were there to try out their grub. Orale, Sandoval’s you have some pendejada’s working there. We’ll never know how good the food was since we couldn’t get to 1st base.

Only had bloddy mary’s this time but they were good. The bartender was knowledgable on tequila. Turns out the owners make their own and at the airport location have a variety of over 200 different types. The two of us came on a monday afternoon and got great service.

Neat place right off Miller Rd. that’s «attached» to the Sandoval’s Mexican next door. Modern décor and plenty of plasma TVs for all your sports viewing. The staff here is great and definitely make you feel welcome. Their HH deals are good and drinks are tasty as well. It certainly beats going in to downtown to watch my sports!

Don’t get excited. I saw some 4.5 stars, I saw some elites reviewing here, and I thought«hey I live close, why not.» However, this is not anywhere close to 4 star food. Maybe if you spend your life at bad suburban chains, sure. The burger was very mediocre — overly thin bun that was not very good, lettuce stacked incredibly high to make the burger look/feel bigger, and beyond this — everything was very plain. Standard quality ingredients, no inspired burger recipes or burger sauces, the meat certainly did not seem like ½lbs like I had heard, and overall I just finished wondering why I spent $ 10 on a mediocre $ 6.99 burger ATBEST. They claim they have the best burger in town… maybe the best burger in that parking lot. Or maybe they’ve only eaten at Applebees. There are so many better burger places around that I see no reason to every return for the food. Interior was pretty standard, nothing special and nothing to complain about. Service was meh. Never once got a water refill(it was a small cup), or had my waitress come back to ask how things were, and eventually had to ask a busboy for my check 15 minutes after eating. WIll not be back.

Sandoval’s has been synonymous with Mexican cuisine. This establishment has operated a Mexican café on Portland’s Miller Road for years. Thanks to Unilocal I learned that Sandoval’s now operates a sports bar called«Sandoval’s Home Field Grill.» The relatively new Home Field Grill is actually sandwiched between a Biscuits Café and Sandoval’s Café & Cantina. For starters the service at the Home Field Grill is superb. Friendly, attentive, efficient, and caring. Our server Jessica did an outstanding job of taking care of us. The décor is beautiful and comfortable. Large screen TVs adorn the walls. There’s a definite Ducks, Blazers, and Timbers theme going on at Sandoval’s Home Field Grill. Typical bar food? Not at all! Among the menu items are steaks, St. Louis style ribs, grilled salmon, and crème brulee. One half pound Fulton hamburgers are offered with a multitude of toppings. The fries are delicious and I would put the fried onion rings up against any restaurant in town. Sandoval’s Home Field Grill serves brunch on the weekends. Sports bars are a dime a dozen but Sandoval’s Home Field Grill is a sports themed restaurant that truly distinguishes itself.

This is our neighborhood bar, mostly because in NW Heights there’s really nowhere else to go. But actually, Home Field is pretty swell. The food isn’t anything unique or spectacular, but it’s solid. The veggie burger makes good use of locally-sourced ingredients(Beaverton Bakery buns and Chez Gourmet patties). It’s so nice to order a veggie burger without the standard Boca or Gardenburger crap. Sunday brunch is the perfect setup to watch multiple NFL games on the copious flat-screens surrounding the tables, while inhaling tasty Huevos Rancheros or Veggie Omelets washed down by a good Bloody Mary. My only problem with going here somewhat regularly is that the prices aren’t super cheap, but apparently Home Field has an afternoon happy hour that I haven’t yet taken advantage of. After all, sometimes you just want to go where everybody knows your name.

Groupon led me to Sandoval’s Home Field Grill, and were it not for the fact that this is in the extreme eastern portion of Washington County, I would have no other reason to be out here(I work for the gov’ment, so I have like… business out here). The Grill is adjacent to Sandoval’s Mexican restaurant, and I can’t tell if they annexed a portion of it to create Home Field Grill or if an opportunity to purchase the space next door occurred. Honestly, it appears as if it could have been either. Regardless, it’s a rectangular affair, very simple, dark and«sports» themed. Sports is in quotes because it’s heavy into the Ducks. There’s a smattering of Blazer stuff and a few Timbers items. LCD screens alternate with memorabilia between the TV sets. ESPN and ESPN2 were the theme of those. Booze is prominently featured behind the bar, and I didn’t look closely at the beer offerings(what was I thinking?!) but I only saw 2 taps. I chose the(admittedly simple) cajun chicken strips. Co-worker had a bacon cheeseburger. Both are served with HFG’s excellent french fries. They’re a cross between steak fries and simple shoestrings. Salty, hot, perfectly crispy and tender at the same time, these are very very good. I was equally impressed with the chicken strips. Just about the best breading(very light and not greasy) I may have ever had. The seasoning, for being«cajun», could have used a better kick, but that’s trivial. My co-worker was impressed with his burger. The service was above average. Our drinks were refilled without being asked and the fella insured that he checked on us regularly. He didn’t flinch when I mentioned I had a Groupon(which I’ve seen happen in the past) and explained that they add a tip by default to the bill when they are redeemed. That doesn’t bother me, and he was maybe even overly apologetic about the tip situation. No sweat, sir, I get it. Note to Groupon users: tip accordingly and we can avoid this! — 1.5 stars mostly for the lack of Oregon State gear, and for the more-than-faint smell of bleach. Other than that, when I’m in the area, I’ll be back.

Finally found the time to try out this new restaurant in our area. Wow! I was impressed. This is just what we have been missing in this part of town… a great little place with good food at decent prices. I had the St Louis style ribs which were the perfect texture — almost«fall off the bone» but not over cooked… Sauce was delicious. We heard that all their soups were home made so we also tried the Thai chicken soup — OHMYGOSH! I think I need a regular soup schedule to know when this is on the menu — I know it will soon become my «regular» order here… I’m craving it again just thinking about it. The atmosphere is great, staff is friendly and welcoming. My boys all like it because there isn’t a seat in the house where you can miss the game that is on TV!
