I could get into all the details of our interactions with Kurt but the bottom line is that his communication and time management skills are very poor. We were very unhappy during the process of doing our 2014 taxes when we simply didn’t hear from him for weeks at a time, despite numerous emails and voicemails to him. When he finally finished our taxes (the day of the deadline! We had contracted with him in February) he used the wrong street address for our residence. I had to call the Oregon Tax Services to fix the error. They are sending me a form to fill out so they can issue a new check to our correct address and after that we will receive our state refund (it’s June at the time of this writing). Despite the fact that we expressed our displeasure to Kurt after the filing, he didn’t offer us any compensation or even an apology. We paid our bill in full. I chose Kurt’s business due to his high rating on Unilocal.Unfortunately, our experience didn’t match the ratings.

I just started my own business in March of 2014 and I was worried about doing my own taxes. I have a single member LLC and as such my personal taxes and taxes for my business are combined. I found Sand’s Solutions on Unilocal and I’m so glad I did!
First, their website is awesome and informative! The design and layout make it easy to read and to quickly get the information you need without being overwhelmed.
Second, I worked with Kurt who was so friendly and cheerful! I honestly didn’t know doing my taxes could be this fun and easy. He walked me through the process and got right back to me if I had any questions when I got home.
Third, they have a great location just off Sandy in NE. I found parking on the street right in front of their office (which is a neat old Portland craftsman) with no problem.
Forth, I had been using Turbo tax for my own taxes for the last few years and Kurt found that I had over paid my taxes last year by close to $ 600!
Fifth, my taxes were sent electronically for me by Kurt and then a packet of paperwork was sent to my house for me to sign. Everything was very organized with their envelopes attached. I just signed where the «sign here» stickers were, put them in the corresponding envelopes and sent them off. So organized, easy and stress free!
I highly recommend Sand’s Solutions and have been raving about them to my clients and to all that will listen! Wishing all of you an easy and stress free tax season! It honestly can happen!

We had to let go of our former tax accountant for several reasons — one being they jacked their prices way up due to the Health Care bill. Did not make any sense. So we thought we would give an online do it yourself tax software a try. This was disastrous as it did not offer ways to carry over losses etc and so the result we got was owing what we usually get back. We checked out Unilocal and called one of the highly recommended tax folks but they were booked and referred us to Jerry Catlin at Sands Solutions. THANK GOD. Fast, efficient, friendly, thorough, and reasonable fees and — turns out our return is a good one! Almost what we thought we needed to pay with the do it yourself tax kit. So glad we found him :)

Wow, I cannot say enough great things about Sands Solutions! I am a small business owner and I am financially smart but not financially organized. I use one bank account strictly for business but needed some serious help sorting things out literally in Quickbooks. Jerry (one of the CPAs) got my Quickbooks setup, bank info/​transactions imported, and literally has given me lessons on how to manage my transactions. This has been a huge help and for me, it was way better than trying to thumb through the Quickbooks manual I purchased for a lot of $$$. The manual just makes my head spin!
Jerry also helped me get some overdue taxes filed and squared away, which takes a big weight off my shoulders. He put on his bookkeeper hat and did all the data entry and then made sense of it all with his CPA hat on.
The guys at Sands Solutions are easy to work with AND excellent communicators (which is hard to come by in the usual accountant types). Definitely have and will continue to recommend them!
