Masons? Do they still exist? Are they still controlling the world? They had math as an advantage in historic times. Are they now the big data illuminati? No one knows!
But they built this great old building when they definitely controlled things. And it can be rented for events today. It has a charming auditorium with a big proper stage good seats and a balcony. They are well set up with flood lighting, but you would need to bring in specialized lighting and sound for some events. There is another big room with a perfect hardwood floor and a small stage and kitchen #1. A huge carpeted lounge and bar with ancient stained glass windows, and grandparent comfy couches. Similar feel to the dearly departed The Woods, but more exotic and ornamental. Other rooms of varying sizes. Very clean and nice bathrooms, and a ladies lounge. Commercial kitchen #2. The building is well maintained, but the carpets are due for an upgrade. The building has 4 levels connected by a grand staircase. There is an elevator, and a ramped entry to the side of the main doors, but if you need wheelchair access, you should check first and work with the staff, seems like those Masons liked to build stone entry stairs, a lot.
The staff is great. They have a secure parking area, that is locked for the night when the staff leaves. They are adjacent to the Mallory Hotel DeLuxe, which has its own parking structure, should you need hotel services or their Driftwood Room for pre– or post– funking. Probably not a good idea to rent it on a Timbers game night, unless for a Timbers event, because parking would be a blood sport. And it’s on the MAX light rail.
The greatest thing about the space are all the Masonary paraphernalia, including spooky portraits of Masons past lining the hallways. Note when you rent the Scottish Rite Temple, they don’t provide a map to the secret wing. Seriously there is a whole other wing. Mason secrets?
An old-​timey Portland event venue that just needs to be seen to be believed!

I go to Swing/​Lindy Hop here on Sundays. the ballroom is gorgeous and has room to fit a lot of people and the floor is perfect for dancing.

I had my wedding here ⁵⁄₀₈ and my husband, our family members and all our guests were delighted. The price was 1200 for the venue on a sat evening.
Katering by Kurt was very reasonable and the food was so good that I’d seriously order it at a decent restaurant. I know this sounds like stretch but I have had really crappy wedding food. I was worried mine would be the same. Not so!
SRC was easy to deal with, had a spacious bridal dressing room. The ballroom is pretty good acoustic-​wise and spacious for a dance. I will say that the golden colored stage curtains are heinous but the décor is otherwise nice.
I would recommend this venue to soon to be brides and grooms who are on a budget and really don’t feel like going in the hole for one day in their lives.

This is a beautiful old building that hosts a lot of events, one of which is a weekly swing dance.
Typically on Sunday night from 7 – 8 (instructions) and then from 8-​midnight open dance and often with a DJ. The cost is between $ 10 and $ 6. You can find out more on the swing at
