Nice local coffee shop with a solid cup of coffee and pastries and bagel sandwiches to match. Good ambiance, plenty of tables, reliable wifi and less pretentious than some other local go-tos. My only critique is that the AC vents in the floor can freeze you out even on a warm day :)

This place has a lot of great big windows so the light makes it a great place to work. Bur burr its so cold inside. Please turn the heat up. Also, there is only 1 hour parking around, so you have to move your car often or be quick if you plan on staying.

A little gem of a place wedged into The Zipper, a welcome addition to this part of town. Artisan(why does that term have a negative connotation? It’s what we aspire to be served!!) coffee served with craft and creativity, yummy pastries and a delightfully peaceful and welcoming ambience. Seven Virtues is an oasis of calm and a great place to take a breather from whatever life is throwing at you today. These guys are so good at what they do, and they do it in a pretty understated way. My café au lait was superb, the latest in a long list of great experiences I’ve had here. Highly recommended!

My virtue today is honesty, for patience was not an issue. A wonderful coffee roaster who knows how to pour a fantastic cup of coffee. With all the options you have in the city for brewed happiness, I advise stopping by here on your trip down Sandy. Their coffee has a slightly nutty character to it that just added some pizzazz to my american and the roast was so well done that I didn’t need to doctor up my drink, unlike some other chain coffee houses. The location is fantastic, unique and well lit and the seating is more than ample. Wonderful slice of PDX.

This place is pretty chill, and as a non-coffee drinker it is a shock to say I love this coffee! I didn’t need to drench it in cream or sugar! So good. There is a lot of seating, good music that’s not to loud, good lighting, and sustainable practices.

Sorry, but I have to say more like two virtues, those being that the staff are fairly nice and they actually serve coffee. My partner and I were interested in seeing what the businesses in the new Zipper complex would be like, since we live about two blocks away. This is the first one we’ve tried. We’ve now been a few times and aren’t that eager to go back. Having been to many coffeehouses in Portland, Seven Virtues just isn’t up to the level of many of the others. Service is incredibly slow and the coffee drinks are often served lukewarm to cold. Also, the lack of interesting food and pastries is a big minus in my book. Until I looked at their website yesterday, I wasn’t even aware they offer a menu with a bunch of different bagel sandwiches. The last time I was in, I noticed a few paper menus right by the register but they had a huge line and I didn’t want to waste any time. They really need a big sign on one of the walls like other places have. There’s also a tiny selection of unimaginative pastries that look like they were brought in from somewhere else. My other complaint is that they only have one table inside that will seat more than two people. This can be a big problem if you want to go there with a group of three or more. One day, when the weather was nice, we enjoyed a large picnic table outside, but, ahem, this is rainy Portland. This just isn’t a great hangout place. If you want to grab something to go, it might work for you.

Take everything with a grain of salt as we all have our preferences. With that being said, I LOVED the chai tea latte here as well as the iced americano. The chai was not watery, not heavy and delightfully spicy. Perfect(for me.) I also had an egg & cheese bagel which I was overly excited about as well. It was JUST an egg & cheese bagel cooked perfectly and cut in half for easy eating. I personally am so tired of going somewhere for an egg & cheese sandwich and getting something that is $ 10 with arugula, avocado and aioli sauce on it etc. The customer service has been fantastic every time that I have visited. I wish that I was a bit closer so that I could visit more often.

The cold brew coffee was heavenly. The price was a little high but worth the deliciousness. The menu is short sweet and to the point I suppose. A dairy alternative aside from soy would be nice. The tables outside were perfect for the pup and me to enjoy some morning rays before starting our day.

I hate that I have to bump down my stars, but I come into this place a few times a week and order the same exact thing. The pricing is different every single time I come in. Sometimes its $ 4.75 sometimes its $ 5.25, and today they tried to charge me $ 5.75 for my drink. Consistency would be fabulous! Coffee is great, some staff seems confused.

I dig everything about Seven Virtues! Brilliant name, concept, unique twist to PDX’s coffee scene. Rad building! Decided to try their Decaf Ethiopian latte. Why didn’t I order a bigger cup? Darn it! It’s like Michael Jackson performing Smooth Criminal! This cup is like gliding down Sandy on a hipster bike and catching all Green Lights! Or being caught up in a good book and can’t put it down because the author has you in a headlock! I had to cross the street to get to my car. When I got there it was two sips later and my coffee was gone. Cry cry! I didn’t realize Unilocal has this shop as Hot & New. Yay me ! Just happened to be passing through and loved the name. I had to stop in. The fellahs were helpful and nice. Décor is clean with seating. It’s a cool spot in a unique building. Try something new. If you pass this shop up. It’s a sin! Go in. Try a fresh hot brew at Seven Virtue.

Stopped by here after yesterday’s Bridge Pedal Bike day.(lots of fun). We had coffee, tea, a salt bagel, and an bagel egg advocato cheese sandwich. its in the new cool super wedge«Zipper» building on Glisan. It was a bit warm inside even though they had the fan on and it was about 75 °F outside. There did seem to be a wall AC but maybe it was not on? So after ordering we grabbed our stuff and headed to the tables in the shade in the back of the building, where it was very pleasant. The mint tea was 5 star good. The latte was a very good 4 star. The egg sandwich was excellent and the toasted bagels with whipped cream cheese were also very good. One of our group works nearby and this place, although new, is already a favorite. And we liked it too and will return.

PARKING: Street. ATMOSPHERE: First thing you need to know is this is a standalone business, not part of the zipper. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, it doesn’t matter, trust me. First thing you’ll notice is that the space is triangular, and you enter at a vertex. Cool layout. Another Unilocaler said it’s black and white, but there’s a red wall, and lots of wood. About that wood, it’s not very rustic. It’s as sterile as a Camden place. Music was good, not the same old. Not the classic rock that another Unilocaler complained about(but he is right, classic rock is a stupid restaurant cliché that must be stamped out). Restroom is down at the end, past the bus station, so you won’t even notice unless you get stuck with the table at the end. SERVICE: Typical coffeeshop: order at counter, bus your own. My food was delivered to my table, but I sensed that was because they were slow. FOOD: Limited menu, mostly(maybe entirely) bagel sandwiches and pastries from fleur de lis. Good, but nothing extraordinary. My bagel sandwich spent some time on a press, which I thought was fine, but I can see some people not liking that. PRESENTATION: Nice, but not too fancy. PRICE/VALUE: Let’s see, $ 8.75 for a bagel sandwich and an americano. I guess that’s about average. OVERALL: I can make coffee and a bagel sandwich at home, and I can get fleur de lis at fleur de lis, so… this was pleasant, but I won’t be back.

Seven Virtues serves up pretty solid coffee in an absolutely fantastic space. Add in the fact that it’s in an area of town that seems to be underserved by hip coffee shops, and you’ve got yourself a four-star experience. The space is part of the new Zipper Building off Sandy Boulevard and NE28th, a ridiculously cool spot that I’ve been watching with anticipation for months. Situated in a triangular space with a ton of windows, Seven Virtues is spacious, airy, bright and positively zen. I found that it was an incredibly conducive environment for getting work done, which is aided by their ample electrical outlets. The only thing I really didn’t care for was the music. Lots of classic rock. Specifically, lots of Pink Floyd. It didn’t really mesh with the environment, and I at least found it distracting. Usually I have headphones, but had forgotten them on this visit. I won’t let that happen again when I return, which I most definitely will do soon. This place is great.

Very nice little place! I’ve been to the one on Glisan and recognized the friendly guy working the register. The bagel was delicious and I love the tea served in the metal mini pots. Always a pleasure

I ended up here this morning after a long walk through my neighborhood! The coffee is excellent and my bagel was big and fluffy and delicious! The only thing I would have to say is that the atmosphere is kind of stark and not very comforting, but I know that’s a matter of preference. It’s a new building on a sort of empty part of Sandy blvd, but hopefully it gets more business when the rest of the building fills. I think it’s going to be very successful! One more piece of info for anyone seeking tea: there are only 4 teas on the menu. But the coffee is excellent.

As the newest coffee shop to open in my neighborhood we decided to check it out today. And well… yum! My combo was an awesome East Coast flavor profile… and since I’m a born and raised New Yorker living in Portland for the past 10 years, these experiences are precious to me. I had a tasty house coffee coupled with a perfectly toasted bagel smeared with cream cheese, fresh lox, red onions and just the right amount capers. Whoop! :D
