Established in 2004.

Silk & Stone, Inc. was established in Delaware in 2004 and has been based in Portland basince 2006. The company offers henna and natural herbal products and services for the body and hair. All Silk & Stone products are natural and tested and created by our henna artist to ensure quality, purity and ease of use.

Silk & Stone also specializes in eyebrow threading, face painting and carries handmade imported jewelry and gifts.

Business Owner

Kaniz has been specializing in henna body art and henna for hair professionally since 1998. Through years of research she has developed high quality henna products for henna artists and those who would like to learn this beautiful ancient form of body decoration. She also offers basic and advanced henna classes through PCC and her studio.

Kaniz loves to draw and has found that this is a type of work she has never outgrown. The art of henna is not only creative and full of new experiences, but is a great way to meet wonderful people throughout the world!

The best salon in Portland for henna and traditioanal east Indian briday makeup. Kaniz at Silk and Stone is awesome — she did my wedding henna and briday makeup. Cant express how beautiful it was and how much talented she is. They made my wedding day really special. Would recommend them to anyone in a heart beat. Keep up the great job !

I love my eyebrows! They do facials, eye brow tinting, henna and more. It smells really good in there too. They have a rewards program which is pretty cool. The male receptionist was really nice and talkative. I’m looking forward to going again.

I just had a bikini and leg wax with Syed Shah the place is really nice and clean she is very polite but when I got home both my legs had visible hair at least the size of my hand. The light is so dim I don’t know how anyone is able to do any kind of proper hair removal.
The place has great reviews for eyebrows but I wish I would have done more research. They charge me $ 35.00 for a bikini wax and $ 30.00 for half leg wax and it was not a complete job.
I do not plan to go there again also if your looking for a quiet environment when I was their it was loud you could hear all the other services going on the rooms are not sound proof.

I’ve been to silk & stone a few times now, I am not really dedicated to any one place to get my eyebrows done. I have only had one bad experience, which is probably because she seemed really young and not as experienced as the others. I am not going to let one bad experience ruin my day. The amazing thing about hair, is that it grows back. Crazy, how it is sometimes.
Anyway, this one time that I came in, I didn’t make an appointment, and somehow they squeezed me in there, and did a fabulous job. My eyebrows are a little unevenly shaped, and this lady, wish I would’ve gotten her name, shaped them evenly and had a perfect arch.
This is the price for threading in Portland, when compared to other cities, yeah, it’s a smidge higher, but in comparison to getting waxed it’s equivalent or more. The price is well within the norm for Portland. Back home, in Vancouver, B. C I use to pay $ 5-​$ 7, but I am not in Vancouver or California. Supply & Demand:)

The non-​toxic hair dye treatment is great! Leandra is meticulous and never rushes with the treatment. I love this place but I wish they had better scheduling (maybe incorporate a texting system to make appointments? it’s hard to make an appointment via phone). Hair treatments are only offered Friday’s which also makes scheduling difficult.
It’s the only place I’ve found where you can dye your hair without carcinogens.

I am a return Henna Hair-​coloring client, but this was my first time with Leandra. She is AMAZING! She is so thoughtful as she assists with and explains the various Color formulations and shades. Leandra quickly applied my desired henna combination and expertly tied my headscarf.
The two options for henna coloring are product purchase/​self application or have Leandra apply the color for you. I highly recommend the latter (I’ve tried both.)
Some if the things I love about Henna hair color; it’s natural and free of chemicals. It turns my grays into «highlights» and is permanent so I can go 5 weeks before I need a touch up (as opposed to 3 weeks with traditional hair color) it’s Gluten Free, so no topical reactions if you are sensitive to wheat or gluten. It also cures dandruff! Love that!
Silk and Stone might possibly be the only place in Portland that offers Henna Hair Coloring Services. Combine that with the warmth of the decadent spa setting and I’ve found it’s the place for me!

the lady (shupa?) took off 1/​8″ in the wrong direction. from the center where my eyebrows meet the bridge of my nose, she threaded 1/​8″ in too far… now my eyes just look weird. lopsided! and shifted to the right. thanks a million lady :/​not.
before I walked in there, I had great brows (that I’ve always loved…) that simply needed a touch up and a little shaping… but this person w obviously very little experience totally effed up and now I do not look the same. :(I am beyond unhappy w their service. OMG they have a total amateur working there and they charge top dollar? what a way to build a reputation. :(((

I had such high hopes! I have always wanted a scalp massage and thought that since I’m going through a stressful time I could finally splurge and get one. Bad call, or maybe just wrong place. $ 60 for a ½ hour scalp massage – it felt like the person doing it (she never introduced herself) was bored and just scratching oil into my head. There was all sorts of banging and construction going on outside the room, and after 30 minutes she pronounced me done. At the register she proceeded to show me a menu of services (for next time? why would I come back?) I noticed the scalp massage was meant to include some shoulder and neck massage, neither of which she did. I asked her about it, so we awkwardly returned to the treatment room where she gave me a nice 15 minute massage. But how weird and uncomfortable. Why did I have to tell her what the service included? I definitely won’t return – I spent WAY too much money on a so-​so treatment in a marginal place. Aargh, Portland.
UPDATE: Someone from the salon called after reading this, apologized and offered me a free service. I no longer live in Portland and asked for a refund. Have not heard back from them.

They do great eyebrow threading at a reasonable price. I just recently had a bad experience with another threading salon and I can now say with confidence now that I will never go anywhere other than Silk and Stone! :)

I am so disappointed! I’ve been getting my eyebrows threaded for 10+ years! I live in Southern California and there are eyebrow threading places everywhere! It normally costs $ 7-​$ 10 to get your eyebrows threaded. I wasn’t loving the $ 15 price tag but the $ 3 Unilocal check in promo encouraged me to check out Silk and Stone.
The shop is fine. It’s big and there are a lot of things including spices, Himalayan sea salt, scarves, etc. I asked the woman at the desk about the price before getting my eyebrows done. However, the woman (I think she was the owner) said it would cost $ 20 to «shape» the brows. From my experience, shaping has always been part of the deal when getting my eyebrows done. (Kind of like selling a hamburger and charging extra for the meat or the bun …)
I asked her to clean up my brows and keep them thick. She did a terrible job! I know that my eyebrows aren’t exactly the same but neither brow looks good. They are both whacky! I didn’t realize it in the shop but when I looked closely in the car, they looked so bad! I don’t even know how to describe it but I think I could have done a better job plucking with my eyes closed. They will grow back but I hate to know that I spent so much money on such poor service.
I read through the reviews and it seems if you have nice and easy brows, this is the place for you. If your brows are thick or dark, I wouldn’t bother!

This is my go-​to eyebrow threading destination people. I’ve had several different women and they have all done excellent jobs.
If you’re an avid waxer, I high recommend you try threading — it’s so much easier on the skin and lasts longer and it’s pretty much the same price (~$ 15 I believe)…
Make an appointment because I’ve dropped in and they have been booked more than once.
While you might have to wait a bit longer than your appointment time, the service makes up for it. I was offered home-​made chai tea made in their little kitchen while I waited.

Loved my experience at silk and stone. They are so friendly and knowledgeable. The lady who did my brow threading really know what she was doing and helped me achieve exactly the look I wanted. And for $ 15 it was affordable and way better than waxing. I will definitely be back.

A few months ago I found this place and I was excited to have a great place to have eyebrow threading done. It was only a few miles from where I lived. I have since moved to Gresham and there are no places anywhere that do this. Even if there was, I would still come here. The women are wonderful and masterfully skilled at what they do. It had been a lot longer between visits than it should have been, but the technician still managed to make me look human quickly and easily.
I love this spa and will trust no one else with my brows.

Here’s the thing about Silk & Stone: they are getting better and better, their selection of spices, clothing, little gifts is expanding.
Kaniz is the real deal. She’s sweet, she’s kind.
She’s an angel. I had a hard day and even though they were closed, she took me as a client. She didn’t have to do that but she did. It made my holiday!

I’ve been coming here for my brow, and occasionally face, threading for the past 3 years and they always do an excellent and thorough job.
They’ve expanded their location since I first started going to them — the establishment is exotic, clean, and comfortable; with an organized shop selling incense, beauty and health goods, and jewelry on one side and a soothing beautifully decorated beauty services area on the other.
In my opinion, threading is much more precise compared to waxing, with the same discomfort level of waxing, and the ladies here have definitely got their brow game on!

If you are considering threading your eyebrows or trying this place for the first time… do it! A year ago I was searching for a place to get my eyebrows threaded (very scared and worried first timer) and I chose Silk & Stone from their amazing reviews and was so glad I did! They listened to all my concerns and what shape/​thickness of brow I like. They put me at ease and talked me through the process; she would even stop periodically to show me what she was doing and if I was ok with it. Amazing!!! I have never had my brows look so perfect! After the initial shaping and threading, I go every 1 – 2 months for threading. Always leave very happy… even if I don’t have the same person threading my brows as the time before.
Make sure to grab one of their stamp cards to earn a free service after so many visits because you will be a loyal customer :)

I’m so glad to have finally found a great threading place. I’ve been here 3 times now and had a different person do my threading each time, and they each did a really good job. As another reviewer noted, the prices are a bit higher than threading in California, but still very reasonable, and still a better deal than waxing.
Today I had my 8 week old baby with me & she started crying while I was getting my brows done, so Sanya offered to let me hold my baby while she finished. So thoughtful and sweet! My baby slept on my chest while we finished up.
I also accepted their offer of some tea today, and they brought me a little tray with loose tea made in a French press, and a teacup & saucer, with sugar in the side. Definitely more than I expected.
