History

Established in 1998.

I’ve been a long-​time hobbyist, having fond memories of playing around on (and inside) a Packard Bell when I was still in a single-​digit age! Soon after, I found myself being the ‘go-​to guy’ for family and friends when something ‘just didn’t work.’ After several years of this, I decided to turn what I loved to do for fun into what I loved to do for work.

Sent an email about my old mac laptop and Steven was great returning messages. He was thorough, fast, and patient with me while I made the decision whether or not to fix my computer. In the end, he suggested I replace rather than try to repair my computer to save me time and money. Didn’t charge me a cent (this was all through email) and was a great resource. Will definitely bring my computer here if I ever need anything.

I have been taking my firm’s computers to Steven for years — close to 10 I think. He has been SO amazingly helpful, patient, correct, fair, compassionate, nonjudgmental. I am sure there are more great things, but know this: I do not know how I could survive without my computer for my business, and I do not know how I could survive without Steven to keep my computers working. Crashed drives, what computers to buy, gummed up programs, coffee on the keyboard, fried drives. So many times. So many saves. I cannot think of another contact in my business I need as much as I need Steven. It is the hugest thing to be able to say he is also the best ace in the hole I have. I am so grateful.

Steven is an incredibly knowledgeable hard drive wizard, not to mention a really great guy! He helped me fully recover a drive that had be come a labyrinth of confusion. Irreplaceable pictures and recordings from my travels were saved, thanks to Steven’s help. He also gave me a GREAT deal! Highly recommended for a no-​nonsense expert on data recovery. (I hear he is also a great editor if you happen to be a writer!)

I called on a Saturday afternoon as my computer suddenly stopped working. Steven answered and even though he isn’t open on Saturday, he spent a good 15 – 20 minutes on the phone with me and eventually got the machine going again.
His patience and interest in my problem was sincere.
He said no charge for his help but if problems came up again, give him a call as it may be necessary to actually do some hands on work.
No doubt he WILL be the guy I will call.

So this is pretty much long over due! A few months (February) ago I got my laptop back after leaving it with a friend after moving here to Portland. Let’s just say it was a little worse for wear. It was barely functioning. Now me being the impatient gaming nerd that I am pretty much needed it fixed immediately, which is how I came across Steven. I called him on a whim on a Saturday afternoon and he was able to see me pretty much immediately. He sat down with me for at least half an hour to discuss options concerning my hunk o’ junk. He took it home with him right then where he wiped the darn thing clean, reinstalled my OS, reinstalled all my drivers and was even kind enough to open it up and spray it clean with some canned air. The cost was beyond reasonable. I was able to pick it up that evening, and when my stupid debit card wanted to be dumb he sat patiently while I got things in order for him. Then when I had questions via e-​mail out of the blue about my new gaming PC he is so incredibly helpful. If you have computer issues go give this man your money.

Me and my girlfriend’s lab top had malware & a virus plus a admin lock on it we could not fix. We called geek squad and got an outrageous estimate and a 3 day service time. Then we called Steven he agreed to meet with us right away did the work we needed in 1 hour and a half plus he give us extras to speed up our lab top and a lot of advice for the half price. Very happy with service thanks Steven

Really fantastic guy. I had a stripped screw on the fan in macbook pro and I wasn’t sure how to fix it myself. I met him at a Starbucks and he fixed it a few minutes. Good price, good service, and a nice guy.

Initially started out as phone tag, trying to get our schedules to match up for a week, I had 3 days available that they couldn’t get to, there was 1 he had that I couldn’t. No big deal, but we finally made a definite appointment for today. Didn’t hear anything I had to call them just to wait for a call back just so he could say literally «hate to be the bearer of bad news but I’m not going to make it out to you today, call 1201 Computers they should he able to fit you in, good luck bye’. Real professional.

This guy is great. He diagnosed my laptop with a dead processor (sad), but then told me that the parts had value and created a list of parts with part numbers, images, and approx value that exceeded the cost of a new machine! He also moved all my data from the old hard drive to a external and scrubbed it for me. And then proceeded to charge me for one hour of work. I gave him an extra 10 bucks and a promise to come back with any future issues.

When other techies balked at the confusing and impossible design of my laptop, Steven swooped in and replaced its coffee-​zapped keyboard like a pro. His willingness to come to my office and do the repair on site adds a convenience factor worth far more than his hourly rate, which is still one of the cheapest in town. Good on ya.

We’ve had STTM fix two of our machines just a week apart. My son’s computer hasn’t been able to get an internet connection for months. Steven fixed it in less than an hour. The same teenager fried my laptop about a month ago. Took it to STTM today, diagnosed and fixed within an hour. Two machines up and running beautifully for $ 80? Incredible. I also found his ad on Craig’s List, where you have to be wary of computer services advertised. Then I saw his website which is witty and extremely well done. It was obvious that he knew his stuff, so we took a chance.
I actually hate to tell anyone about this because he’ll get too busy, but like another reviewer here, you have to share your good fortune. STTM is a rare and fabulous find for anything computer related.

I have used Stevens services twice, and I have been very happy both times. My mini laptop crashed around the holidays. When I took it to Office Depot, they told me that it couldn’t be repaired. I found Stevens ad on Craigslist, and thought it wouldn’t hurt to get a second opinion before chucking it.
It was fixed within an hour, and it only set me back $ 40.
