Spa Lola is a gem in the Pearl. Amanda keeps the place peaceful, clean, and professional. She is friendly, efficient, and outstanding as an esthetician. She converted me to her soy wax. I went to two other salons before religiously going to her. The pricing was fair and booking was easy. Having relocated away from Portland, it’s going to be difficult to find services comparable to hers. I highly recommend Amanda and Spa Lola for anyone looking for a waxing home!

My first facial was amazing! I think that the most wonderful part of the whole experience was really the atmosphere, so warm and cozy and inviting. I also love the products that Amanda uses and they did not irritate my skin at all. I have gone back several times since and each time has been wonderful. I would recommend Spa Lola to anyone!

I just went here a few days ago and I couldn’t have been happier with my whole experience. I was originally scheduled for the detox wrap but the day of my appointment ended up randomly being over 80 degrees outside. The night before she contacted me to let me know that a detox wrap on such a hot day might not be the best idea and said I could keep my time but pick out something else. So I ended up getting the express facial and a brow wax. I was so relaxed and she did such a great job. I would highly recommend this place!

Spa Lola and Amanda are amazing!!! I have religiously been a client receiving brazilian waxes every 3 – 4 weeks for the past two years. Amanda is a genius at what she does. Not only is it pain free, but the service is completed within 15 minutes and the result is fantastic. Amanda has an incredible demeanor and makes you feel right at home.
I will continue to refer all my friends to her for Brazilians!

Went in for my first waxing experience. Amanda did my legs, brows, and upper lip. Amanda was really personable! It was really easy to communicate with her through text before my appointment to figure out exactly what I wanted. She did a great job!

Amanda is the best waxer I’ve had! She uses soy wax that doesn’t grip the skin as much, so my sensitive skin was much happier than after other waxes. Fast and relatively painless. Love it.

I have been going to Amanda for almost 2 years and love, love, love her facials. It is more than just a facial — you leave feeling rejuvenated and pampered. She is also very professional and a total sweetheart!

I recently used my groupon to get a brazilian wax. I’ve been to several places in Portland for brazilians before– usually using groupons. I never want to go anywhere else for a wax again– I’ve found the best. Amanda called me ahead to tell me that there was a parking spot right in front of the shop and was forgiving when my terrible sense of direction made late. The shop is cute and feels very private.
Here’s the most important part though: I will never dread a wax again! Amanda was comforting but didn’t drag the process out. She got the whole thing done lightning fast (which means the pain was over in a blink.) On top of that, she uses wax that works really well in one try and doesn’t irritate sensitive skin. She’s fun to talk to and made me feel very comfortable and relaxed.
Waxes are never pain free, but this wax was about as close to painless as can be. $ 50 isn’t floating around my bank account for frequent waxes. Which is why getting a great wax that is thorough and will last as long as possible, like the one I got at Lola, is worth it.

There is no other place like it. Great one on one attention, and during your facial, Amanda doesn’t try to sell you products! Her pedicures are heaven on earth. Amanda goes above and beyond to make you feel special and gives you the care you deserve. The love she has for what she does, and the care she feels for her clients is abundantly clear. I’ve been seeing her for my eyebrow waxing and facials for 6 years now, and I’ve never had a bad experience. She is my first and last esthetician.

The discussion of my wife’s birthday spa treat started with: «You know what would be really nice? A message.» So, I get on Unilocal and round up a few great massage options. A few days later, about the time I’m ready to make an appointment, she says, «You know what sounds really nice? A facial.» Of course, a pedicure was also mentioned in a similar fashion a few days later. So I set out to find someone was great at both facials and pedicures.
Lola was one of the few that seemed to fit the bill. Amanda had great reviews and, as luck would have it, she was giving a discount for Unilocal referrals. Yahtzee!
Amanda was a pleasure to work with from the start. I was working this stuff out during my lunch break in the cube farm, so using the phone was not a great option. Amanda responded promptly to all my e-​mails, which was not my experience with a few of the salons I had contacted earlier in the hunt (who seemed to have obligatory addresses on their website, but the accounts were never checked). This is especially impressive because Amanda runs the spa by herself, so she was making a point to answer my e-​mail presumably in between appointments.
I was wavering in my decision between a few of the services she provided, but she gave me some good tips based on my input about what my wife likes. I settled on a French facial that not only incorporated the standard bits (exfoliation, masks, yada yada yada) but also included some massage. My wife had referred to scalp massage as heaven in the past, so I knew I was on the right track. :)
My wife wasn’t exactly familiar with the part of Northwest where Lola is located so she asked if I would mind taking her to the appointment. There was plenty of free parking on the street and the spa was easily identified as it was on the ground level and had an easy-​to-​spot window sign. I had brought a book with me to pass the time. I settled into a cushy chair (presumably one that she used for pedicures) and Amanda offered me a heated neck pillow. Not too shabby for a waiting room.
One thing I appreciated about Amanda was that she really seemed to value her clients’ privacy. She does her best to set up appointments so that there is only one client in the spa at a time, including the waiting area. Since her services are strictly by appointment, she was able to lock the door behind us. The facials are done in a warm bed in a separate room, which further adds to the privacy of the visit.
My wife loved the overall experience. Amanda was accommodating and gentle. Per equipment and the products she uses are top-​notch. My wife came out of the appointment so relaxed. I thought she was going to fall asleep in the car. It definitely didn’t hurt that Amanda gave my wife (and me!) a chocolate for the road… as if she needed another reason to love Lola.
All in all, it was a wonderful birthday gift. Thanks, Amanda!

I’ve been seeing Amanda of Lola for about six months now for waxing, mani/​pedis, facials and peels and she is amazing. Amanda works solo in her spa so the experience is always very comfortable and relaxing, just like being in your own home. She doesn’t overbook herself so I’ve never had to wait and never feel rushed. Also, I have rosacea, which can be aggravated by facials and peels, but Amanda’s facials and peels actually calm my rosacea. If you have rosacea, you know how miraculous that can feel. She is incredibly sweet, calming and professional. I highly recommend Lola Spa.

I decided to buy a groupon from Spa Lola after my horrible experience getting a first facial 4 years ago. My experience at Spa Lola was FANTASTIC. Amanda gave me an amazing facial. I felt so beautiful afterwards. She definitely has angle hands that will make you feel relaxed and calm. The products that she uses smell great. She doesn’t talk your ears off or try to sell you products like some other aestheticians. She is really genuine and cares about your skin, and she treats you like you are her number one client.
When you enter her spa, it’s like you are entering a warm, heated, cozy house. It is very cute, well decorated, and smells oh so good. With her heated spa bed, warm, soft socks and gloves, you will feel so pampered and relaxed. Oh and she changes sheets after each use.
I will definitely go back to Amanda again and again…

My girl in Portland gets a groupon from her man and we spend the day together getting two express facials rather than the one fancy facial that the groupon was for. Points to the proprietor Amanda for being super accommodating and doing us both.
The aroma was a pleasant warm lavender that calmed me like a purring cat. I feel bad that Amanda can’t smell it anymore, being around it all the time. She pampered me the full time, not like some facial places that have a stationary steamer aimed at your face for 15 min while they text in the corner. Amanda gave me a wonderful scalp massage while my facial dried. I’d like to go again my next visit to Portland. I need to find someone like Amanda around San Jose.

I have been seeing Amanda for waxing and facials for at least the past 6 years… She is amazing! I get waxed regularly and she uses a very high quality wax. I never leave with irritation. She has also helped me with my changing skin over the years. She always hits the mark with my skincare and I love the Yonka she uses. Go see her! She rocks!

Amanda gave me the best facial I’ve ever had and I’ve had a lot of them! The space is quiet and dreamy, it’s nice to not have anyone else in the spa. She gives recommendations of product but not once did she ask if I even wanted to buy one, which is so nice compared to other places where they push their product on you when they’re done. I got my facial through the Groupon deal (fabulous deal!!), but I’ll be back as a regular customer, probably for waxing (crazy good deal at $ 40, I’m used to paying $ 65 OUCH!) and the occasional facial splurge. I wish she did massage, she’s got the right touch for it. Thanks Amanda, see you soon!

I agree Amanda was wonderful great technique & accommodating.
I went in for — great fun — a lip wax & she did a good job being gentle & thorough. I didn’t react to the wax she used YEAH! Unfortunately I did react to the products so I’m considering bringing my own if she’ll let me.
I’m not a downtown fan but if subsequent experiences are like the first I’ll be back!
