Description

Specialties

Over 1800 years ago, Saint Irenaeus of Lyons wrote: «The glory of God is a human being fully alive.» (Or words to that effect.) Here at St. David of Wales our mission is to be a place to become fully alive. That being-fully-alive-ness takes as many forms as there are people. We might be what you’re looking

for.

Sundays @ 10am: Holy Eucharist & Godly Play, the Lord’s supper with all the trimmings

Wednesdays @ 6pm: Peace Mass, simply prayer & communion in the chapel

History

Established in 1870.

In 1865, the first recorded Episcopal Church service on Portland’s east side was held by the Rev. P. E. Hayland, Rector of Trinity Church, in various impromptu locations, including a room over Mack’s Drug Store on Oak and 3rd. In 1869, the Rt. Rev. Benjamin Wistar Morris, the second Bishop of the Diocese of Oregon, received a $ 1,000 grant from a good friend from St. David’s in Pennsylvania to establish at church in Oregon. He, thus, established Saint David Episcopal Church in the remote, forested East Portland.
