Description

Specialties

My first specialization is deep tissue (also called Swedish) massage. I have other additional massage techniques that I can apply, including hot stone, acupressure or reflexology.

I still practice acupuncture and can provide herbs for my clients who request them, but I am choosing to focus more on massage at this time, seeking my own level of mastery of one thing at a time.

History

Established in 2008.

I received my acupuncture and massage education in New York City, at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, getting my Masters degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine in 2006 and my degree in Massage Therapy one year later. I knew from the start that I wanted to be able to provide healing to my patients using both approaches, and so spent an extra year in NYC, since New York has some of the most demanding education requirements for massage therapy in the country. Within a week of finishing classes, I was in a car headed to Portland, OR, arriving here the day after Christmas 2007. I opened my practice in February 2008.

Meet the Business Owner

Charles G.

Business Owner

It’s easier for me to think of my learning massage starting at age 3 than starting later in life, when I took formal training. The western view is that I went to college in New York to study massage and acupuncture, but the eastern view would be that I began learning when my mother first asked me to rub her headache away.

I grew up in Colorado, went to school initially to be around books and learning. I moved to Washington DC early on, having such diverse jobs as a tape editor for CNN and hosting my own public access talk show. When I moved to New York, it was to make a change, and for me, the change meant following, at last, the call to heal.
