Got my first wax ever from Candice, and she was fantastic. Made me feel completely comfortable, and answered all the questions I had– half before I had even asked them. She was efficient and the whole Brazilian was done in 15 minutes. The room was CLEAN (this was a big thing for me, but everything seemed orderly and sanitary), nicely decorated and cozy, and everyone at the salon was very friendly as well. I will definitely be back for more!

This place is just awesome! I had my first Brazilian wax a little over a month ago with Candice. I have been sugared in the past and I have to say she wins! The appointment took a fraction of the time and far less painful. She’s also super nice and hilarious. I just booked a second appointment and am going to do brows as well. She’s definitely the real deal. The salon is super cute and all of the ladies working there were friendly. I also bought a very cute orange turquoise looking necklace there that I’ve received so many compliments on. So excited to go back. I highly recommend it!!!

I stumbled upon this salon & spa through Groupon and I’m glad I did! I will admit, when my cousin and I first walked into the building that housed Studio Luxe, we looked at each other like «what have we gotten ourselves into.» Four flights of stairs later, we finally got to our destination, opened the door, and walked into the chicest salon!
Moving on, our main mission was to get our Brazilian waxes, which was our first time by the way and we were more than nervous at this point. Candice, the owner of the salon, greeted us with the biggest smile and made us feel so welcomed the whole time.
Long story short, the wax actually wasn’t too bad to our surprise! Candice made us feel so calm, talked to us throughout the process, and she was so fast with the waxing I was surprised when she said I was already done! (10 – 15 minutes total) She was seriously so quick I barely had the time to react to each wax (ha), which was a good thing for me honestly.
I have a feeling that my second appointment maybe booked again here but we’ll see — it’s a little pricey, but that’s understandable for a Brazillian wax and quality service. My only complaint is the parking situation, which is what you can expect when you’re downtown Portland.

Gorgeous and classy yet comfortable and totally unpretentious salon and spa in the Pearl! Karen M is a brilliant stylist with an eye for perfection and an intuitive sense of what will work best to fulfill her client’s individual style and maintenance preferences. Plus she’s funny, and sweet as the delicious pastries just downstairs at Barista.

Candice is knowledgeable and talented at what she does, waxing can be scary but she makes it comfortable and fun! Will definitely be back and recommending her to all my friends.

I have been to many studios and waxed by many estheticians but never have I encountered someone so thorough and diligent as Candace. She did an amazing job by: 1) making me feel comfortable immediately (no one has ever asked I had ever had a bad experience but that simple question made me realize she cared and was different) 2) she was really efficient and I was out quickly (but not too quickly) 3) she literally left my skin baby smooth 4) I absolutely loved the look and feel of the salon and most importantly, it was super clean and inviting.
I found this salon through groupon but will definitely be returning to pay full price. I just feel terrible that I didn’t discover her until now – there’s nothing worse than getting a Brazilian by women that don’t care about what they do (and I’ve experienced that way too much). Candace is clearly passionate about her career and I will recommend her to all my friends!

I had a Brazilian wax from Candice. I have had worse experiences, but I’ve also had better. Parking here is terrible. As for the actual service, I’d say it was more painful than some places I’ve been. She has an obsession with ingrown hairs. She digs into them with what feels like a knife. I told her it hurt, but instead of stopping she just said she was almost done. I also left covered in baby powder. I will say though that she is great about not double dipping in the wax. I think there are better and more affordable Brazilian options.

I just got a Brazilian from Candice and she was PHENOMENAL. She had fear attention to detail, and though she was very quick her personality was very patient with my low pain tolerance. AND I got wjne which definitely helped with gather nerves. I will definitely be back, and will be referring all of my girlfriends to her as well!

Love this place! Karen M is fun, creative and honest! She gives a great cut (and color if needed!). Candace, the owner, is a sweet heart and does waxing. She is very thorough.

Nickol is amazing amazing amazing! I usually expect average from buying Groupons, but she’s incredible!
I just went in for a haircut, and loved that she works fairly quickly, knows a lot about the products that she uses, and is a good balance of being chatty and letting you relax and enjoy being there. She does an amazing scalp massage with her deep conditioning treatments, and make sure you have a great experience overall.
I would highly recommend Nickol to anyone looking for a new stylist to shape up their hair!

Annie is absolutely wonderful.
First off, she is amazingly talented. She knows exactly what to do. If you’re not sure what you want, she has a suggestion. If you know exactly what you want, she’d know very well how to give it to you. She’s sweet and such a delight to talk to. She transformed my hair from a bird’s nest to this awesome, sleek, sophisticated, yet fun hair do. I cannot recommend her more. I am definitely going back to her.

I found her on GROUPON. I explained to her that I wanted to keep my length and add layers. She seemed repulsed and said «no, why would you want to grow it out longer? Hair stops growing at a certain length. You’re hair is long enough, you don’t need it any longer.» I soon realized I probably should have just walked out because it is my hair, the customer is always right, and hair does in fact continue to grow.
She curled my hair after cutting it, so I couldn’t really see the layers all to well when I left. After I showered and blow dried my hair for the first time, there was a MASSIVE step in my hair. Literally 5 inches between the top and bottom shelves she created in my hair. It looked like a 5 year old took a weed whacker to my hair. Someone who has been cutting hair for 15 years should have noticed that.
In addition, when I showed her a picture of her horrible work and asked for a refund, she accused me of wanting a free haircut. Which is funny since my tip was as much as I would pay at Great Clips for a haircut. She also accused me of being hard to please, because I politely denied to go back to her. Probably the WORST haircut/​customer service I have ever received. Save yourself the money and waste of time. DO NOT GO TO HER.

Dena is my go-​to lady for all things hair. I have been seeing her since around 2009 and have been extremely happy with every cut and color I’ve received from her. When I bring in a photo of a complicated ombré coloring, I leave looking just like the picture. Dena is sweet and conversational. All of the staff are very friendly, the space is beautiful with big windows and views of the city. It’s a great place to escape to and pamper yourself.

First of all this place was a little strange. Having to go up an elevator to the 3^rd floor? Might just be a Portland thing. Anyway my hair cut was a mess. In the end I had to go to another salon to get it fixed because they did such a bad job. The lady cutting my hair was very friendly and experienced but it seemed like she didn’t care about how that hair style looked with my face shape. Definitely not worth the money. Oh well. Just won’t go back…

Studio Luxe is in a wonderful space in Portland’s Pearl District, with a hip and welcoming vibe. I’m looking forward to going back for another pampering facial. Great place!

I get my hair cut and sometimes colored by Dena at Studio Luxe. and she always gives me whatever cut and color I ask for. Dena is very professional, a great communicator, a sweetheart, and a great listener and conversationalist. I love her style and her positive energy. This is a review overdue for Laura. It was my first time here at Studio Luxe and it was a very pleasant experience. My only complaint was I was a little confused on where it was, but then again I’m not very good at directions. I was greeted by Laura herself and she made me feel comfortable right away. The salon was quiet and relaxing.
Most hairstylists are timid to deal with my thick, coarse, asian hair which is why I’ve stuck with asian hair salons for the most part. Laura was extremely confident and gave me nice face framing highlights with a subtle ombré. She paid attention to detail and for once I didn’t feel like I was being rushed through to get to the next customer. On top of that, I got the absolute BEST scalp massage. Awesome experience.

Rosie is amazing! In addition to being friendly, professional and talented — Rosie truly listens to what the client wants and never disappoints. Have been going to see her for years for my cut and color and always leave feeling beautiful and well taken care of.
Rosie also did make-​up and a gorgeous up-​do when I was a bridesmaid and made me look and feel fantastic. Got compliments all day on my hair. Thank you, Rosie for providing consistently great service!

Laura Huckfeldt is THE BEST hair stylist I’ve been with for the last 7yrs! I’ve been following her for years and have not been disappointed with any of my hair cuts. She works with ALL kinds of hair, especially coarse dry hair types. My hair texture is like horse mane (I’m Asian), its very straight, dry & coarse so its really hard to have layers that don’t look choppy or uneven. Laura always manage to makes my layers blend in very well and looking natural. It is very hard to find someone that can do this, so when you find one you want to follow them.
Laura moved to Studio Luxe in April. The salon is very modern and clean. It has a great view and large windows to bring in sunlight. Its in the 4^th floor of the Gatsby building. Laura’s clients are of different ethnicity and different texture of hair. She can work with all hair types & is an expert in doing braids, corn rolls & any kind of weaves. Laura will not let you leave unhappy & will ensure that you are happy w/​the results before she lets you out the door. She is very attentive and will listen to what you want & if needed will give you some advice/​suggestions based on her experience and what works for you.
I love Laura & will continue to follow her to whatever salons she works for. Your hair really makes a huge difference to your appearance and if you want to look presentable go to Laura & she’ll make you look gorgeous or at least your hair! =)
