History

Established in 1985.

Swensen & Gray started their long term relationship in downtown Portland, Oregon as «Thorpe & Swensen» an active, successful, general civil practice and insurance defense law firm. Each of the attorneys litigated many court cases, worked for insurance companies defending personal injury cases, formed hundreds of businesses for clients, and litigated hundreds of disputes for those clients. The senior partner, Thomas Thorpe, left the firm in 1990, and the remaining attorneys formed the current partnership. Both attorneys ceased representing insurance companies. They now litigate personal injury cases only for the claimants.

Each of the attorneys, (Keith Swensen and David Gray) has acted as court appointed arbitrator for hundreds of cases in Multnomah, Clackamas and Washington counties. They have written wills and created trusts for their clients and probated hundreds of estates.

In 2003 Swensen & Gray moved out of downtown Portland to offices at 5911 SE 43rd in Portland, Oregon

Meet the Business Owner

David G.

Business Owner

Having grown up in Oregon, attending Portland State and graduating from Oregon State University, David wanted to mix things up a bit so he attended law school at Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco. He married Susan, his Oregon girlfriend while he was there. They returned to the Portland area and have lived here since. They have two fine grown sons that David coached through soccer, football, baseball and basketball.

Since 1987 David has volunteered at a senior center once a month — giving free legal advice to seniors on matters he has dealt with in his many years as an attorney. He loves to play and listen to intricate fingerstyle and blues guitar and to occasionally escape the wet Western Oregon valley to hike in the arid Eastern Oregon mountains with Loretta, his German Shorthair Pointer.
