Tiny tiny tiny place, goodie goodie goodie food. Today I lost my taiwanee food virginity to THIS awesome place! YAY, finally I found my favorite spot for school lunch, phew. To be honest, nothing is too great about decoration but who the hell cares when they have outstanding food. Small and tiny place, quite and peaceful. I had been told to try the braised belly pork which I did(I’m a good listener for sure.) Not too salty as Vietnamese or Chinese style and it has its unique taste. The belly pork was cooked till perfectly soft, so were the eggs. 1 order of braised belly pork was $ 7 which came with belly pork(duh), 1 egg, choice of vegetable(usually pickle daikon but I think you could choose your favorite one like when I asked for substitution), and white rice with gravy on it. Might be not enough for my biggie belly but for someone else, it could be a good portion. The server who was the guy at the cashier was so nice. He was patient and helping to inform me and answer many questions that I had. He told me to try the bubble milk tea and green tea custard which were totally amazing, especially the green tea custard. Again, I highly recommend this place and the braised belly pork for your first time here.

Small menu, simple food, absolutely delicious. That pretty much wraps up Taiwan Eats. The restaurant is basically an enclosed food cart; just a few chairs inside, so either go takeout or you can sit outside(weather permitting). Their Braised Pork Belly Rice is amazing; tender chunks of fatty pork belly in a super flavorful sauce served over steamed rice with a soy sauce marinated hard boiled egg and some pickled daikon radish for only $ 7. Love it. The service is always fast and friendly. Looking forward to many more visits.

Authentic Taiwanese food in an area that definitely needs it. Staff is very nice, accommodating and hardworking. Owner is sweet and bright eyed and was very lovely to talk to. We had the beef soup, beef noodle, boba and tea custard dessert. I would have them all again :)

I popped in for a bubble tea while running errands in the area, and found service quick and friendly. The bubble tea was, in my opinion, kind of overpriced relative to both its size(it’s significantly smaller than what you get at Bubble Bubble, for example) and taste(there wasn’t anything wrong with it, but there also wasn’t anything very exciting about it). With that said, it is the only game in the area for bubble tea in Bethany, so this is a great example of how pricing goes in the absence of competition… Overall, I think this is an interesting addition to the Bethany mall area. I’ll definitely consider trying the food at a later date; some options looked pretty interesting, and I’d like to see how authentic it tastes.

Felt like some hot soup on a cold evening, it was perfect. I had the beef & noodle soup, The broth is very good, and the noodles even better, you can tell they are fresh. The beef was very tender, not chewy. I ordered to-go, so the broth and noodles were in separate bowls, so you can mix them when you are ready. There was as side of chili paste included, it was very spicy, so you can add to your liking. My order took about 10 min., but I’m fine with that, it was worth it.

I had a good feeling about Taiwan Eats and am so happy I made the trek to find this little gem. Although some reviewers have commented on the ‘limited menu’, I think it’s important to note that this micro restaurant focuses on quality over quantity. The«melt-in-your-mouth and make you crazy happy braised pork belly over rice» was simply delicious. I would have liked a tiny bit more of the sauce but that’s just because it was so good. I just about cried after the first bite — it really was that good! The seasoned bamboo shoots, tofu and pig ears were lightly seasoned but flavourful. The pork pottage noodle soup was fragrant and not too thick. My only critique would be that the broth was a tad too heavy on the salt. One small but important detail that helped enhance the take-away experience, is that they separate the noodles from the broth so the noodles don’t get soggy. I also felt the pricing for each item was spot on. I will definitely be back for more. It certainly looks like I’ve found my ‘go-to’ spot for Taiwanese food!

Don’t let the size of the place fool you. Taiwan Eats serves authentic delicious small eats. Braised pork belly and beef noodle(even comes with preserved mustard) are spot on. Huge portions. The place may be hard to find because there’s no sign on the outside.

The rice pork belly tastes great, price and portion are okay for this location. Best for to gos, small tight space. I will def comeback to try the zha zang mien.

Good quality ingredients, no MSG, healthy food. I like eatery style places. Small place, very limited seating and limited menu for now.

OMG, definitely the best braised pork over rice I ever have! Extremely high quality of food and the just perfect seasoning. The bubble tea is excellent as well, from tea leaves not tea bags. I could eat here every day.

This is the first time trying this new Taiwanese place! I wouldn’t call it a restaurant it’s more like a pick-up/to-go place. It reminds me of the food shops in Taiwan, convenient and delicious! Taiwan Eats has really traditional/old-fashionedTaiwanese food that really brings me home. Their Braise Pork Rice is very traditional and delicious! Same with all their small plates and drinks! Definitely recommend this place! I do think that this place is a littttle expensive but I understand that many of the items on their menu are very time consuming to make. If you’re looking for cheap food this is not the place. However, their portions and taste can make it seem more worth the price!

Taiwan Eats has successfully brought Taiwanese cuisine to Portland. Years ago I ran a Unilocal talk thread asking what ethnic restaurants we were lacking in Portland. More than one Yeep mentioned Taiwan. Pleased to say that we now have the delightful Taiwan Eats. This is a tiny eatery with a small menu but sometimes great things come in small packages. That is definitely the case with Taiwan Eats. Found this wonderful restaurant by accident. While strolling along Bethany Village Centre’s new food court I caught the eye of Taiwan Eats’ owner Ethan. This young man’s warm smile pulled me into Taiwan Eats like a magnet. Ethan asked me if I had any questions about the menu. I told him I didn’t because my eyes had already fixated on the Beef Noodle Soup. The lady behind the counter was equally warm and friendly. I ordered a Beef Noodle Soup to go. She explained that on to go orders they separate the beef broth and vegetables from the beef and noodles. This is so the noodles don’t absorb the broth and become soggy. Felt so stupid that I hadn’t thought of that. The lovely counter lady also showed me the condiment table and put some condiments in my to go bag. Turned out the condiments and flavorings were completely unnecessary. Taiwan Eats serves up the most delicious beef broth I have ever had. Wouldn’t add to or change a thing about it. Mind you I’m someone who sits in Phở shops and dumps condiments into my soup. With my soup came large cuts of carrots, baby bok choy, tender sliced beef, and the most scrumptious noodles. My Beef Noodle soup only set me back ten dollars. When I was finished I was stuffed to the gills. Keep an eye on Taiwan Eats. My prediction is that this fantastic eatery is going to grow in popularity and in menu size. Ladies and Gentlemen, the Island of Formosa has made it to Portland!

Four stars for: –choice dishes and serving sizes –quality ingredients, food is made with care in small batches –décor is clean and just right for a casual bite –service is friendly and on point This place is currently only open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. My hope is that Taiwan Eats will build up a loyal clientele to ramp up its operations. Some may say that the menu is limited but I would argue that they offer just enough variety. Special props to the green tea custard.

Above average of what I expected in Portland but it would be just OK if this place was in NYC. I enjoyed my braised pork but the sauce was missing some bite. I’m no cook but I wonder if it was missing star anise? Just didn’t quite match my mom’s or dad’s recipes. The pig ears and bamboo sides were pretty good and were gobbled up quickly. We also got a side of 5 spice beef. It was OK, a bit on the dry side. Lastly, the Taiwanese beef soup was pretty good too. The beef was very tasty and tender. All in all I give it above average but room for improvement. So ambiance… This place is practically a food cart but it is a brick and mortar establishment. The seating is outdoors and the seats on the side of the parking lot is exposed to the elements. It’s summer right now so NBD but I hope they add an overhang to block some more rain for people if they eat there otherwise, to go it is! I think one simple thing to improve is if they used real utensils, bowls and plates if people are dining in. Thin plastic to go containers are not acceptable in PDX. It especially contradicts all the«usage of local ingredients» and being green when you are eating in plastic.

3.5 stars Super excited to hear about a Taiwanese place opening up because I always thought it was sad that Portland didn’t have any Taiwanese food. This place was hard to find because their sign is a little hidden. It’ll be much easier if you look for Bliss Cupcake and they are next doors. The menu is quite short and simple but I understand why because the restaurant is pretty small with limited kitchen space. The menu items they have now are mostly things that can be made in advance and just scooped/plated when ordered which is good if you want something fast to go. Even so, I would hope that with time they will be able to expand their menu items at least by a couple. I had the braised pork belly rice($ 7) which was flavorful and fatty but I felt the rice was on the dry side and the egg was also dry/overcooked. My friends had the noodles and they weren’t super impressed by it but did say that it was better than when they first opened up. We also had two of the side dishes of pig ear and slice pork that were nice to pair with the entrees. For dessert I tried the matcha custard($ 3). The custard was barely green colored so I thought the matcha flavor would be light but I was pleasantly surprised by how strong the matcha was. Custard was soft with a rich milk favor. I definitely recommend it.

Taiwan Eats has a small but flavorful menu. As others have mentioned, some dishes such as the braised pork belly rice are spot on, while others(beef noodle soup) could use more salt and punch. That said, I loved this place. The dishes that are good are very good. The hot sauce and side dishes such as nai lao and pig ears are homemade with an artisan’s attention to detail. And those dishes that need a little more oomph are already so good that they point to this place being truly outstanding very soon. This micro restaurant is a great addition to the Portland area. Located in Bethany Village, it’s one of several small restaurants that share outdoor seating. It’s like NE Glisan’s The Ocean done Beaverton style. It’s good for kids though maybe not for large groups. And the owners and workers are lovely, friendly folks.

After visiting multiple times and keep running into them either not open or they ran out of food I had high expectations of this place. I truly truly truly would like to give them a 5 star since, like the previous reviewer had mentioned, there are not many Taiwanese food places. But I would say from a micro restaurant point of view, their menu items are carefully curated and I like the menu. The person greeting up front is very friendly and isn’t afraid to talk to the customer which I like. But when I got the food and the drinks I was a little bit disappointed in the flavoring. Not that it isn’t delicious, it is but it seems like certain dishes either had too much salt or not enough salt. Also their Winter Melon tea is incredibly good but I think it is a little too sweet. I think the flavoring would attract the typical American palate. Given that they had just opened I think their food is tasty but it could use just a little bit of flavor improvement. I definitely would frequent this restaurant and I believe that in time they will become a great Taiwanese Restaurant in the area.
