Hands down one of the best pedicures I’ve ever got. They are very friendly and nice. They even offer complimentary champagne, mimosa’s, wine, tea. The legs massages are fantastic! Drinking a mimosa while getting a leg massage prior to having your nails painted is pretty fantastic! I’d recommend anyone come here, so worth your time and money!

Unbelievably bad.
I went in for a simple back fill on my acrylics. I wasn’t planning on wearing polish, but now I don’t really get a choice. Yeah, they’re that bad.
length and shape are ok, nothing stellar. I can see every single file mark and line. There are massive bubbles everywhere and areas where I can tell the new acrylic didn’t meld and fuse to the old. The acrylic was brought up onto my cuticles even and I’ll be lucky if they just grow out into ledges instead of lifting right off.
On top of this, the woman burned me three separate times with the drill and cut me twice with it as well. Every time I said ‘ow’ and pulled my hand away she mumbled ‘sorry’ and kept going anyway. She also didn’t bother to remove all of the polish I had previously before putting more acrylic over the top. Great.
I got into the car and was horrified. I took a closer look at them, put my car back into park and went back inside to have her fix some of the more obvious holes. She didn’t fix the holes, just broke out the drill again and tore my cuticles a bit. I don’t know if she just doesn’t care about quality work or what. It’s so frustrating and sad. I was the only one in there, with no music (dead quiet) and obviously there’s a reason for that.
I’m going back in the morning again to show… I don’t know, management? It’s worse than I had done when I was in beauty school.

This place is awesome! They offer you free drinks and the people there are friendly. I really like having my nails done there. Especially, their shellac is their most signature.

I had a nice little windfall and decided to TREAT YO SELF to a hot stone pedicure with paraffin.
From the moment I walked in, I was pampered. The place was empty except for one other lady.
I was offered a (weak, mostly orange) mimosa and accepted. I wondered if I could have asked for another one, or brought my own?
I brought two magazines figuring I’d have a little while to check in with myself and while away the hours with nowhere to be.
My feet were soaked, my chair rubbed my back and – GASP!– my chair reclined to a horizontalish if not fully horizontal position. This was like laying down, reading my magazine (they even offered me a pillow) while my legs were rubbed.
The whole experience took me over an hour, I’d say 70 – 80 minutes. It’s definitely not something I would pay to do on the regular (I can reach my toes and there’s no major callous on my feet, they’re normal) but as a luxurious treat, this was a lovely surprise.
Minus a tenth of a star for the skipping/​repeating classical music cd or MP3 file they kept recycling. If I go again, I’d probably bring headphones and my own music.
The hot stones were lovely (almost too hot at times but the same way a rough massage hurts and delights when it stops, once the stone moved on to another area, my skin jumped for joy) and the paraffin was a new treat for me. I’m not sure it made much of a difference, since I didn’t have much (any) callous to soften but my feet sure felt sweet when I left. They gave me free flip flops to walk out in so I didn’t get polish on my Birks and I was charged $ 1 for the pumice kit (I didn’t keep it but maybe should have asked to) so the total was $ 41. I got no hassle about using a card (I know sometimes you do) and found this experience to be the best pedicure I’ve ever had.
If I were in the market for another pedicure, I’d go back here. And if I were going to recommend a relaxing, TREAT YO SELF experience to someone, I’d recommend Tao. I have recommended it to 2 – 3 coworkers.

They tried, kind of… but seriously???
Aside from literally shredding my cuticles with a nail file instead of buffing just the surface of my nails, they left them painful and bloody with the cuticle trimmer. They sat me right beside two girls who were bitching about everything under the sun, and very loudly so that there was no way to relax. This place uses rubbermaid style plastic tubs for the foot bath, and the platform is on wheels so it costantly rolls away. The «anti gravity chairs» are just motorized recliners, and have no massage functions. I was given a gift certificate for my birthday for a mani pedi, and after upgraded to a deluxe pedi and had wet nails on both fingers and toes, they told me they wouldn’t take it. WTF. So I ended up paying for my birthday gift – bloody cuticles, polish on my skin and a super rude counter attendant. And their towels shed like mad, so I left covered in white fuzz.
Go to princess nail instead, they never fail to impress me. This place sucks. I promise, you deserve better.

Ok so this place got great reviews and I will say the scrubbing the treatment was pretty great. The woman wasn’t interested in talking which was fine, I was relaxing by myself. Although, playing the same song on repeat I could do without.
Downsides: there was no air conditioning and my toe nail polish chipped the next day.
Although, I might think about returning considering how soft my feet felt afterward!
Ask for a glass of wine and sit back ready to fall asleep from relaxation!

Just had one of the BEST pedicures I have had in al very long time. Ton was amazing, he really took his time. I almost fell asleep a few times. The chairs are amazing too ! First visit ! I will be back

Wonderful treatment. I gave Mai artistic license to do whatever she wanted and she gave me the coolest spiderweb nails! (It seems she’s good at reading people’s personality types and knows what they would like, because that’s right on the money for me). Reasonable pricing, complimentary beverages. Next time I’m getting a hot stone pedicure.

Got my nails done for a wedding here. They were super cheap for what I’m used to (maybe it’s because every 10 feet there’s another salon, I dunno). But they did a realy nice job at a nice price.
My only concern was that they don’t do a pink and white acrylic, as in, they don’t do the white powder and pink powder, they only do the white acrylic tips.
The staff was also super friendly. My nails totally held up nicely for 2 weeks, though my friend, who got a french manicure on her natural nails had her white chip on 2 nails in less than 48 hours.

Love going here when I am in town. Very friendly employ and good service. Plus you can have champagne with your pedi!

I visited this place for the first time today and got the spa pedicure. For only $ 25 I received a thorough and meticulous treatment. The foot/​leg massage lasted nearly 15 minutes and was very relaxing. My heels are soft and my cuticles look great. I’ve not had a pedicure for quite some time and was very satisfied with this experience. I’ll definitely be back here!

Worst mani /​pedi ever. They used a file for acrylic nails on my natural nails. When they asked if they could trim my nails I said yes, a small amount… They took my nails down to nubs. The polish job looked as if a 12 yr old did it. Never again.

Seriously, this place is worth a visit even for a short drive, I drive 10 miles to go here. Beats any place I have been in downtown Portland. Nice ladies, peaceful place, best new chairs that fully recline. Hygienic conditions with separate bowls for pedicure. I really like the nail bar (I do shellac), it is much more comfortable to sit up at the ‘bar’ rather than stretch across a table and be crammed into a small space. Both treatments have lasted very well.
Take time to visit, with their service, they should be back to back full… their location is just a little off the beaten track. Visit and bring a friend or your guy!
I feel taken care of and had great value for the money.

After reading the reviews I decided to give this place a try. The salon was nice and mellow, which I liked. I didn’t really like what the pedicure baths sat on as I felt as though the cart was going to roll out from under my feet.
I decided to get their champagne pedicure, because it was $ 10 off. First thing I didn’t like is that my nail tech didn’t use anything other than a pumice stone on my heels. My heels aren’t horrible, but the need a little more TLC then what they got.

What an incredibly relaxing experience I’ve had at Tao Nails & Spa. A basic pedicure (which includes champagne, if you want it, or lemon water, which I like), is only $ 25! The massage was as good as the one I get at Written on the Body (in NE), and the people are so friendly!
They also use buckets rather than built-​in tubs for your feet, which makes it a whole lot more hygienic.
All the times I’ve been here, I’ve felt completely welcomed. They even remember my name! I love Tao Nails & Spa!

This place was great but now that it’s under new ownership… not so sure.
You have to be suspicious of any place that lies about having new ownership and tries to ride on the reputation of the previous management.

Here’s what I want from a Nail Salon:
1) Quality service
2) Friendly technicians
3) Clean space
4) Marketable prices
5) Not too hard on the up-​sell
So, how does Tao stack up?
1) Their nail service is amazing. They really go above and beyond, making sure everything is done just right. The guy there that does the foot massage with the pedicure? Amazing. Never had a single problem with the way they’ve done my nails, it’s always looked great.
2) The technicians and owners there are so friendly. They remember you and make a point out of asking how you are. They make great conversation and make you feel at home/​at ease.
3) Their space is impeccably clean. You can tell they really care about their business and their location. It really shows.
4) They aren’t the cheapest around, but definitely right in the market for a Sellwood nail salon. They have a few deals/​packages that can make getting several services done at once more affordable
5) This is why they are getting 4, not 5 stars. They are pretty hard on the up-​sell. I brought my daughter (3 years old) for a fun manicure, paint your nails date. We got up-​sold pretty hard on why I wasn’t doing the paraffin wax for my daughter and doing a full-​fledged manicure. This sort of thing has happened every time I go in there (what, you’re not doing Shellac??? WHY??? Or, don’t you want to get a pedicure right now too? Here, just have a seat!) I think if they could ease off this just a little, it would make the whole process fully enjoyable with no pressure to spend unnecessary dollars.

Sadly I have to report that the original staff at @Tao is not on vacation they sold the business. The staff is friendly and did a good job on my pedicure the only problem I am noticing from other people are the shelac manicure when I am paying extra I want to be sure that the manicure will last the two weeks.
Rose, Kimmy, Bill and Bobby are now in Tigard in a salon in the same parking lot as Office Max and Petco.
I think when a place in under new ownership and management you should just be honest with clients and tell them that you are the new owners.
Still I was a fun place to go when the original owners where there.

I found the Way (Tao) to Heaven today… a new nail place opened in my neighborhood which normally would not have made a bit of difference to me as I wasn’t in the market for such a thing. But today, I decided to pop my head in and check it out and WOW I am so glad I did.
I had the greatest experience. About 10 or 15 minutes into my treatments I literally felt like I was floating away on a cloud, or even better, like I was away on a fabulous vacation.
My feet were soaked, masked, wrapped with hot towels, wrapped in paraffin, wonderful creams made from champagne and roses were massaged into my lower limbs and footsies, all while I sat back in a very comfortable massage chair, a zero gravity massage chair. The latest and greatest chair, with the latest and greatest sanitary basins that are switched out for each client.
While my lower extremities were being pampered, my hands were also being given similar zen like star treatment.
The results are smooth silky skin, lovely nails, and the feeling that I just had a terrific spa day, but it took just over an hour for all of this bliss!
This place is family owned and operated and they are super nice. I will definitely go back to see Rose, she did my knees down to the tips of my toes, and made me feel so incredibly comfortable and relaxed, and Kimi who gives terrific arms, hands, and a lovely «American French» Manicure.
