Pulled into the parking lot of thatchers and had the bumper of my brand new 2016 camaro destroyed by a few inches of rebar sticking up out of a tire stop/curb in their parking lot. It was a great way to start an evening. I requested the contact information of the bar owner so I could file a claim with their insurance. The manager came down and was very friendly and amicable. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the owner of the business. They owner insisted that the damage is my own damn fault and that I can file a lawsuit if I want to pursue damages. The owner refused to provide me with any insurance information. If the owner had been willing to speak with me they would have realized that I am a rational person. I likely would have split the cost of a new bumper and avoided insurance or small claims court. Based on the owners behavior I will be pursuing the matter to fruition.

Thachers is in an area Portland, this kind of a low-income area and the service was really bad not the waitress, but the cook 30 minutes! to get a meal! The restaurant was not very clean but the food was good I’m not sure was worth the wait though

I really like this place and have come here for several years/decades. But the tap beer is usually warm and, during our last visit on Friday, the food took over an hour(it was good though!).

First time I went here. I just went there play video poker, no drinks at all. The bartender yells out 15 more minutes we closing. It was only 1:53 am. Them 2:10 came and he yells 3 more minutes and if you don’t cash out I’m not going to cash your ticket. So I cashed out. There was three people still sitting at the bar and they didn’t have to leave and they were still drinking. One lady a comment, If it was me I would of just hit the cash out button on them. I will never go there again. Also never saw them card anybody too.

If you like dive/sport bars, this is definitely one of my favorites so far. This has been one of my go-to bars for the past couple of months. Chill atmosphere, never super packed, chill crowd, etc. They have pool tables, video poker, big buck hunter, several tvs and laid-back bartenders. Food is decent, only had a few of their stuff during happy hour. It’s very large inside with tons of places to sit so that you don’t have to stand around waiting for a spot to open up like some bars. There’s also a covered back patio with some tables to sit at. It’s walking distance to a few other bars so a good location if you want to have a lowkey night with a few stiff drinks!

A chill little place. I also finally found a place that was able to make a decent scooby snack which made my night. They also have video lottery here and a few pool tables for entertainment. We ordered fries and they were pretty good. The only downfall is the staff here. The bartender wasn’t so friendly and she took forever to come around and also took forever to close out our tab. I doubt we will ever come back to this place since they have bars everywhere in portland.

We wandered into Thatchers last summer and returned several times following bad service but good food. We returned this Fall after my husband saw the Saturday Night Prime Rib sandwich board on the sidewalk. We arrived at 7 and sat in the bar — very surprised there weren’t too many people there. After sitting for several minutes, the bartender came over to our table and told us he’d rather we order at the bar(he was at our table, for cryin’ out loud.) So my husband following him back to the bar and ordered the prime rib, only to be told they had run out and we should get there at 5:00. So we ordered something else and decided to return the following week at 5. We arrived the following week at 4:30 and sat at the same table(across from the bar in full view of the bartender.) At 5, my husband went to the bar and ordered, only to be told it would be another 30 minutes and they would come take our order. At 6, he asked again and was told they knew we were there and would get to us. At 6:30, they took our order and at 6:35 our food was delivered. Delicious! The next week, ditto the above paragraph except we were in the lower eating area and it wasn’t until 7 that they took our order. We decided the following week we’d give it one more shot but would call in advance(the food really was good!) So we called at 4:30 and were told it would be ready at 6. We arrived at 5:30 with friends and by 6:30 when we finally caught someone were told there was only one server and one bartender — hello, on a Saturday night with a special posted? Poor staff — they were taking the brunt of it. Finally at 7, we saw another server/bartender, the gal with the tattooed neck we’ve heard so much about here on Unilocal. She walked by us 7 times, clearing a large table and not ONCE did she look at us despite our doing our best to talk to her. I finally went to the bar for a shot of 7-up to boost my blood sugar and was told we shouldn’t hold our breath for prime rib, there was a problem in the kitchen. No food is worth nasty service and this last visit was the final straw — the only positive about Saturday night was two comped beers and heartfelt apologies from the bartender(not the blonde tattoo.)

Horrible experience! Went there for a Thursday Duck game and instead they had Timbers and Tom Brady! They claim to be a sports bar but don’t have a very pivotal Oregon Washington state game on! I asked them to put the duck game on ’cause the Patriots game was already a blowout in the 4th and they refused! Ridiculous! Also the bartender said about the ducks, «they aren’t having a winning year» which was false! I live 4 blocks away and will never go back!

I like this bar, but the bartender needs to learn how to make an old fashioned. Of note there is not orange juice in an old fashioned.

Rowdy Thatcher’s…you better be ready to rock! Thatcher’s is one of those places that is what it is and offers no apologies. In a strange way I can appreciate that. They’ve been around a long time and have an amazing amount of regulars sliding into a booth to catch a game and grab some beers. Before Montavilla was SE «trendytown», they were coming here and they don’t mind reminding you. Met here with a buddy for a Blazer game recently. Great local place to watch a game. Big screens, and a nice large room away from the tightly compacted bar to focus on the game. Nice selection of taps, good local choices too! Food is okay. I opted for the nachos, veggie style and I felt they were a good value. A couple of problem areas keep me from coming back often though. It can get really loud and boisterous, and doesn’t have a great design when it gets busy. There’s pool tables in one area, bar in the middle, and the large seating area below. When it gets packed you bump into everyone, and it’s tight quarters for staff to get around and serve people. Service is alright, if almost welcoming… especially if you’re a regular! Where it loses a star especially from this reviewer is cleanliness. It’s dark and old inside, so that gives the appearance that it’s probably worse than it is, but there needs to be a hearty rub down of elbow grease making sure tables are properly wiped, the floor is swept, and bathrooms are tidy. Overall, a great spit and sawdust pub that offers some great beers on tap, a good value burger or sandwich, and a spot to catch some sports. Just don’t go expecting more than it is!!!

Would give 4 or even 5 stars, had my last visit not been so terrible. Credit machines were down, so we were forced to use the atm(which I did not end up using). The bartender would not let us open a tab, therefore we had no idea how much money to pull out… frankly, she was very rude to us(the main reason we left). We do not live in the area, but frequent their happy hour, which is really good… This place is generally very fun, good drinks, great food(especially HH)…and no usually nice bartenders. Would go back, in other scenario, but not today.

Terrible service from bartender with orange hair — place was almost dead and she still was slower than molasses. Took over an hour to receive order, and several items were missing. Bartender /server didn’t even serve food(although restaurant nearly empty) — cook did. Food was ok but service was awful. Will never return.

We really like the food here, they have great sliders or chicken sliders for 2 dollars each. Taco Thursday. Homemade chili. Not an overpriced stuffy place like the rest of the block. Been here twice and no hipsters working.

Predictable, friendly, and reasonably priced. Easy to make friends. Not too many squads or mofos most of the time. Unpretentious. Your best bet for a game or a nightcap after work in the area.

So I own a business not far from Thatchers been in there plenty of times. They have decent wings decent wings. But honestly the little blonde freaky looking bartender in there has the worst customer service I have ever seen. blatantly called me a liar simply because I asked for a Coors Light bottle and she didn’t hear the bottle part and I corrected her. I’m actually fuming mad right now. I try and support local businesses because naturally I’d like them to support mine and I’m pretty sure I’ve been going there longer than she’s been working there but if that’s the type of person know they’re going to have their I can spend my money other places.

Alright check it out… This place is a good time, I’m rating it as a bar with BARFOOD! YES their cheesesteak is amazing… ANDTOTS! But don’t get pissed if you go there and you’re all like? What?! This is just a cheesesteak. Yes, it is, BUTIT’S DONERIGHT! I ain’t sayin’ it’s fancy. This is a place is comfortable, like cheers. If you’re looking for a neighborhood bar where everybody will eventually know your name, choose Thatchers. You won’t regret it, unless you’re an alcoholic(and even then at least you won’t be judged).

**HH review only** 4pm-7pm daily; $ 2.95-$ 4.95 food; $ 0.50 cents off drafts & wells Generous portions at a cheap price. $ 4.95 for cheeseburger & fries which any other time is $ 9. The half pound organic beef patty is topped with Thatcher’s special sauce(honey mustard-like), a slice of white American cheese, & layers of pickles, shredded lettuce, onions, & tomatoes. After the patty is grilled though there isn’t much left. It was thin as all get out & I hardly could taste the beef. Fries were surprisingly good & they have fry sauce. Love fry sauce. I haven’t tried the rest of the HH menu but it’s bar food so don’t expect spectacular chicken strips, mini corn dogs, sliders, or wings. Table service is slow to start but once they have your attention then it’s quick & smooth. The bar staff take their sweet time servicing the patrons which is annoying if you’re in line for drinks. This is an average lounge occupied mostly by the neighborhood locals. There’s flat screens televising sports in every room of the bar, a few pool tables, & video lottery. The drinks are stiff, the food is decent, & the staff are friendly. At most, Thatcher’s gets three stars.
