Andrea is phenomenal. I went to three different alterations places before picking her to work on my gown. She has a wonderful personality that puts you at ease AND she is funny! She is an expert in her field AND she is affordable! I wouldn’t have just picked anyone to work on my $ 1,800 gown. I knew right away she was experienced and I trusted her with my alterations. My gut was right! I would highly recommend her!!!

I worked with Lei for all my wedding dress fittings. I got my dress from Brides for a Cause, several sizes too big with extremely tattered multiple silk layers. Lei was very friendly, and they somehow transformed my dress to fit me like a glove and look like new again! However, communication between appointments and tardiness could be improved upon. Friendliness was always there for the most part, though my last two visits were not quite as pleasant due to tardiness. I was the first appointment of the day for my last two visits. They were early in the morning and Lei was late 30 minutes one time, and almost an hour the last time. I was waiting inside during the last visit, and Lei’s second appointment came in after me and we both waited. I wanted to try on my dress one last time to inspect the work before I took it home, but the second appointment was helped first before me once Lei arrived :-/​I was greeted with a «hello» but no apology for me waiting an hour. I left happy with my wedding dress, but feeling a little snubbed.

These guys are the best! The only bad thing I can say isn’t about them, it was about the other people getting their clothes altered. Some of them just took so dang long, I ended up waiting for an hour my first appointment. I’m a pretty simple person and Lei didn’t try to upsell me on anything I didn’t need. I got out of there for around $ 150 and she gave me an opinion on my second dress. She let me know I didn’t need it altered; she said it already fit great. I would have listened to whatever she told me. They were funny and sweet.

I had the pleasure to meet Lei when i was buying my wedding dress, my dress was like 4 sizes bigger but i fall in love with the dress also during the process altering my dress i loose like 10 pounds but i cant explain with words the amazing job that Lei did with my dress, it was like she made it for me, she is so amazing, a great human been, with a such good heart, always willing to make me happy and make me feel the most beautiful bride, all her team are pretty amazing, so patient, always smiling and joking around, very professional and responsible, is wonderful to work with such amazing people when you are under so much stress with a such a good vibe. she literally is THE BEST! Lei thank you and thank you for you amazing job.

Lei did a beautiful job altering my wedding dress. Everyone said the dress looked like it was made for me. She also created a custom 10 piece bustle that worked great for our foxtrot/​waltz on the dance floor!

I just cannot say enough good things about these ladies! My dress was skintight with a dramatic bottom and I needed serious alterations. Lei did flawless work and madey dream dress a reality for my body type! The prices are also SO reasonable but they are doing top quality work! Lei even dropped my dress off at my hotel so I didn’t have to worry about it being wrinkled for the big day. Don’t hesitate to go with these ladies!

Andrea is amazing. She basically made me a wedding dress. I bought a dress, then gained weight. Andrea completely saved my dress and made sure I felt beautiful on my wedding day. She was so much fun to work with and I can’t wait to find a reason to go visit her again! :)

Andrea is awesome. She definitely impressed me, and my dress was finished on time, and looked AMAZING. Super sweet woman and I paid exactly what I was quoted. Highly recommended.

Custom Fit To You and the staff at The Bridal Loft was amazing! At first, scheduling an appointment was rough as they were booked almost a month out. Lei took the time to offer me a few dates and did explain that she would be squeezing me in and I would need to work with her! Thank goodness I did. My dress needed a lot of work and they were able to turn it around in 2 weeks so I could jump on my plane to leave for my wedding. Lei was really straight forward and I can tell you after planning my wedding and working with vendors I LOVED it! She didn’t BS or waste my time. She was to the point and very caring. Of all my vendors, she was the best! I never felt so beautiful in my life! Thanks Lei!

I rarely leave reviews but had to just because of the superb service that I received from Andrea at August Veils.
I bought a wedding dress. One which I tried to cancel the order on a week later. The wedding store would not work with me at all. They assured me that Andrea was wonderful and she be able to help so I should make an appointment with her to fix it once it came in. However, I knew what I wanted changed about the dress (hence why I tried to cancel the order) would be a full over haul. I took the dress to Andrea to see what she could do. Now, Let me say my wedding was not a super easy one. I had some tragic events take place around it and some difficult family members on both sides which made it stressful. Seeing Andrea was one of the few wedding to-​do things i enjoyed going to and did not dread. I knew and she knew that the bridal shop I ordered the dress from over promised on what she could do, so they wouldn’t lose the sale. However, Andrea smiled worked so hard, and kept me laughing when I really just wanted to cry. She did all she could do to «fix the dress». When i went for yet another dress fitting I let Andrea know I might need to just get a whole new dress. Andrea suggested I do same so that i would be happy. If Andrea kept working on it she and I knew it would cost almost more then a whole new dress. Andrea put me first and wanted me to be happy. Something that had not happened a lot during the whole wedding process. The saddest part about not fishing the dress was not seeing her. She truly is a wonderful person and one of the only people I would recommend you take your wedding dress to!

I had done endless amounts of research trying to find someplace to do dress alterations at, looking for someplace within the Vancouver, WA./Portland, OR. area, within my budget, that could get it done quickly, and would provider great services. Unilocal was my trusty go-​to site for reviews on this place, and while the reviews are a mix of good and bad service, I still felt like this place was right for me.
My dress didn’t need any other alterations other than a bustle, but I still wanted to find someone that other people recommended though — after all, I didn’t just want anyone to put pins and needles into my beloved gown. Leialoha Kaula was who I emailed back and forth with my many questions and she was very helpful. I’d done my research in the different types of bustles that could be done, wanting something simple but that also pulled my dress and train off the floor, having it look natural or as if it belonged there. I ended up having a French bustle with hooks that my maid of honor was able to figure it out without having it fall onto the fall during our reception.
The location was a little difficult to find. Even though they have a hand-​drawn map on their website, I didn’t realize it was the other side of the main building on MLK that faced the street, the Standard Dairy Building, and there were no signs on the street that indicated that. After driving past the Standard Dairy Building a few times, my matron of honor and I parked the car and walked around looking for it. We finally found paper signs on the hallway doors of the building, following them through the building to the other side to discover it. We had to be buzzed in, which frankly was kind of nice b/​c the alterations were being handled upstairs. The room we entered downstairs was very peaceful and serene, having us remove our shoes and stuff them into cubbies, while we followed an attendant upstairs. The upstairs was more like a loft, as the name suggested, offering a kitchen with a small table in the center for discussions & paperwork, a changing room filled with other’s gowns, and a open space full of a few mirrors, veils, and various accessories. The entire space was carpeted too, which was nice so my toes didn’t get cold.
The experience was great — Lei was very helpful in making sure to explain exactly how they were going to bustle my dress and made sure my matron of honor knew what she’d have to do. Time with me went so quickly that my matron of honor was able to consult about alterations on her dress as well. The price was also great compared to other alteration places I had checked around with. Their services came in under budget, which was fantastic!
My chief complaint lies within their website. I wasn’t aware that on the website, the alterations have their own separate link, taking you directly to Custom Fit 2 You, which is the business that does the alterations. I thought The Bridal Loft was the business that handled that, so there were some confusing emails on my part to Lei where I didn’t feel like she was answering me in a timely fashion. I was merely using their «Contact Us» button on The Bridal Loft’s main page, emailing the
address it listed. Not until I received an email from Lei explaining this was I aware of the difference. Looking back now, I see on the bottom of the homepage each business that’s associated with their different services, and when you click on each picture on the homepage that offers their services, there’s a link that takes you to that business’s website. These were small details I missed when initially browsing the website. It’d be more convenient if everything tied together; however, I understand the need for separation.
Would I have alterations done with them again? Yes. Would I recommend them to a friend? Yes but with better directions to their location.

This review is for Event Cosmetics. I cannot say enough about these fabulous women! They made me and all the women in the bridal party look beautiful, except for the bride who was absolutely stunning. Catherine the head make-​up artist is truly an artist. She sees your features and truly brings them out of the shadows and on to center stage. Her team was professional and simply amazing. They care about the details. Wonderful. When I finally get married I want to do so in Portland so I get my make up done by Event Cosmetics!!!

LOVE these ladies and their work! I ordered a dress from BHLDN and it was my dream dress with lots of delicate layers of fabric. Lei worked her magic and it fit beautifully! Andrea hand made me the MOST AMAZING belt to wear with my dress. I simply described to her what I wanted and she found real feathers, bleached them, incorporated my vintage brooch, you name it. It was stunning and definitely my favorite part of the dress. Every appointment was fun and they make you feel fabulous. Highly highly recommend these wonderful ladies!

Andrea and the team were so helpful and fun to work with. My dress was difficult to create a bustle for and they took the time to make it look right. I was very pleased with the outcome and felt as though they listened to my requests. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing alterations completed.

I cannot speak highly enough about Lei, Andrea, and the team at Custom Fit to You. I experienced every bride’s nightmare and my dress arrived from the designer too short in length. They were able to work nothing short of magic to get it fixed and ready for me (dealing with a very tight timeline)! All the while they were cheerful, reassuring, and attentative to my requests and needs. The fitting appointments were so enjoyable, I felt like I was hanging out with my girlfriends. The dress turned out flawless and I have never felt so beautiful. Ladies, thank you!

The Bridal Loft is a bride’s dream! A one stop shop for everything. I got engagement photo make-​up, dress alterations, wedding day make-​up and veil done by the Loft. Myself, my mom and all of my bridesmaids loved getting our make-​up done. The ladies were very professional and made everyone look good! I purchased my dress from a local bridal shop and had it altered at the Loft… they did an amazing job!
Also, I recommended the Loft for alterations for a friend. My friend had a custom dress made and it was made 6 sizes too big. The dress maker had also sewn in the lace overlay into the seams (FYI… it was Cocoon Silk). The alterations needed to make the dress how my friend wanted it were complicated and time consuming. Did I mention she brought the dress to the Loft two weeks before her wedding? Anyhoo… the Monday before the wedding, my friend went into the Loft for a fitting and it was awesome! My friend picked-​up the dress on Friday just in time for her wedding.

All the ladies working there were exceptionally nice and caring. Our family would definitely work with them if/​when our daughter is ready for her wedding. (LOL)
Cheryl created a special dress for me in exactly the design I had in mind. I wore it to my friend’s daughter’s wedding and recieved many complements.
She also did the alterations to my jackets & coats. I knew this work was not in their regular line of business and they were busy at the time, but she gladly did them for me anyway. Thank you so much for working extra hours to meet my deadline so I could take my special clothes on my trip.

I had a very bad experience at the Bridal Loft. If I could change anything about my wedding, it would be my choice of working with the Bridal Loft. Specifically, with Custom Fit for You, the tailoring department. The main tailor is new to the business, taking over for Kim Tricky, who has retired. And Lei, the new tailor, still acts like a beginner. On my second dress fitting, Lei worked on the bustle, and we found that when bustled, the dress still dragged on the ground in an awkward, uneven way. My maid of honor pointed this out and we insisted that the bustle needed to be pulled up off the ground. On the last dress fitting, we found that it was still dragging and it had to be kept for one last tailoring job. Unfortunately, when I came to pick up the dress, I did not try it on one last time.
On the day of the wedding, the dress was dragging when bustled, and my bridesmaids had to pin it up. It took half an hour out of the evening, and the pins were showing through the lace.
I was extremely upset and after the wedding, I called the Loft to complain and request a reimbursement. Lei, argued with me and refused to reimburse me, or allow me to come in to show her the dress. Finally, I called Charlottes, the bridal shop that recommended the Loft to complain. They were horrified and called the Loft on my behalf. The Loft called me back and offered me a $ 100 reimbursement, and said that I did not need to come in with my dress. The check was in the mail.
A month later, the check still hasn’t come, and the Bridal Loft is now asking, «actually, could you come in after all?»
This experience has been the only negative part of my wedding. It has not ruined it at all, but if I could change anything about my wedding, it would be my choice to work with the Bridal Loft.

Took my silk chiffon strapless Amsale bridesmaid dress here to be altered. Kim has obviously been doing this for awhile, she got the hem and bust area pinned up very quickly.
She was very patient to sit and look up some pics of the dress online because I was wishy-​washy about the length. I ended up emailing her afterward to ask if they could take less off the hem than she had written down (better to go with longer than shorter in my opinion), and she said of course.
She informed me ahead of time what the cost would be which included extra for the difficult fabric (which I was prepared for after looking at other alterations places). When I picked it up, my main worry was gone… the bust fit perfect, and I wouldn’t have to worry about pulling it up all night. YAY.
However, when I got home and tried it on again, I noticed the hem looked lopsided. No, maybe it’s my imagination. I’m being picky. It couldn’t possibly be, I just paid $ 120. Boyfriend gets home, «no it’s definitely longer on the right side».
BOO. It’s a bummer. I have no option to get it fixed because the wedding is the coming weekend.
She’s super nice, and she mentioned to me that she gives certain dresses to the other gals that do alterations there (I understand she cant do them all, they are busy), so I probably can’t fault her specifically, but still.

I had my dress hemmed here by Sewing Solutions. The ladies made me feel like a supermodel when I tried on my dress. Oohs and Ahhs always helps to hear when your wearing a gown you spent a chunk of money on.
All the alterations were done on a timely manner. She even recommended another facility to wash the gown after the big day.
I also had my makeup done by Katherine of Event Cosmetics. I have honestly never felt more beautiful in my entire life. She is a true artist. The makeup application was tailored to my needs. Not overdone, just perfect.
I only wish I could have been able to work with the other ladies from the loft.
