Specialties

We specialize in items normally retailing between $ 2-$ 15, with an emphasis on non-violent, super cool toys. Every item we have is only $ 1 We do not buy closeouts, seconds, or any «dollar store» stuff. We are the ONLY store of its kind on the PLANET When in our store, you must play with everything. Educators, child counselors, and special needs providers receive a 10% discount. Almost all of our inventory, nearly 4000 different items, are here by customer request.

If it has anything to do with squishy, splatty, gross, fun, cool, retro, or just totally awesome toys, we try to have it.

We also have normal stuff. Cleaners, tissue, tools, brooms, toiletries, make up, jewelry, party supplies and decorations, glass and ceramic figurines, souvenirs, warm caps and scarves, socks, tattoos, stickers, hampers, kitchen tools, plastic bags, and all kinds of tape.

We have an enormous candle section, from 25 cents to a dollar.

Our book selection is totally insane! Every week we have 300 more.

History

Established in 2005.

First time Scott went into a Dollar Store was when Lydia’s kids, Nicholas & Christopher wanted to spend their allowance. It was December and Scott buys presents for ALL of his friend’s kids. He always gets fabulous gifts and spends about $ 300.00 each year. This time he bought 4 items per child and spent only $ 100.00! As Scott left, he stated he wanted to start a dollar store. Lydia responded, If your going to do a dollar store, I’m in. We searched for a location for 1 1\2 years. When checking out glass ornaments at The Greystone Gallary, the owner was asked by another customer, Why are you closing. He stated rent was going up & he wanted to do some traveling. Scott & Lydia looked at each other and decided to call the landlord. The entire building would be to much to afford, however the landlord was willing to rent 2 of the 3 levels to The Dollar Scholar.
