So good. The special are always amazing. Oyster shooter are better than any other place in town. It’s worth the stop for sure.

It’s a ok seafood restaurant. Quantity is relatively small as compared what you pay. Nice service and clean environment. Welcoming crew.

This charming dive is serving first rate fish. Some of the best seafood I’ve had anywhere. Everything is fresh, local and made from scratch. We went on Tuesday which happened to be their half price bottle of wine and cheap beers night. Had the Fishwife seafood combo plate(broiled), everything was perfect. Garlic mashed potatoes were insane. Service was excellent.

Best hidden gem in my neighborhood. Everyone we bring here bring others and call it their fav place for seafood. Non-seafood dishes are just as good. Make sure to always check out the specials board. We love these guys!

I stopped in for lunch today. Service was quick and friendly and the atmosphere is quaint. I started with a cup of clam chowder. It was thicker than I prefer, under-seasoned and had hardly any clams in it. Very disappointing given all the positive reviews. I then had the Cajun fish sandwich. The fish was fresh and cooked well but was absolutely drowning in an oily Cajun seasoning. It’s all I could taste. The bun and toppings were good though, and the side of slaw was delicious. It’s a cute place and I wanted to like it more. I feel like I ordered the wrong thing. Maybe their dinner entrees are better. I’d try again, but the north Portland location is a bit of a trek for me.

Just got back from having lunch here. I highly recommend the clam chowder. One of the best. Yes, it’s thick but so delicious. I also ordered the Cod fish and chips. I’m pretty sure that the cod was delivered to this restaurant in a big box, frozen and already breaded. It reminded me of the fish sticks that you buy in the frozen food section of your local grocery store. Not good. Lacked flavor but I was able to eat it with their tartar sauce(which was mostly made of mayo). The fries were okay. Nothing to write home about. I went here because of the reviews I read. I’m disappointed and the other people in my group are as well.

I ordered the crab fettuccini Alfredo. It is served with bread and a small salad, even to go orders. The food was very good and the portions were perfect. You can really taste the freshness of the seafood. I would recommend eating there as the food is better right out of the kitchen. I was only in town for the week but can see myself coming back next time I’m in the Portland area.

If your not all into fancy settings, just clean and comfortable, with great food. This place rates up with any place from Portland to the coast. Fantastic plates, good service, great prices. Then look no farther.

Had the clam chowder and a salad to start and that hit the belly perfect. Yes topped with a cold Jeff! Ordered the scallops sauted but they were a bit salty… Kind of like some of the Portland wet heads

Sooooo good. Fresh seafood with an emphasis on local Oregon caught. The specials are always unique with balanced sauces like honey ginger or miso mushroom reduction. Tonight we had the Oregon Coast Ling Cod and were not disappointed. All of the«regular» dishes like fish and chips or blacked Cajun fish are always reliably delicious. The salad dressings are homemade and perfect. The comfortable atmosphere and north north Portland location are the only reason this place is affordable and avoids all the hipster trends. Must eat seafood, great service, neighborhood gem.

We are new to Portland and frequently visit restaurants all over town. What a great find the Fishwife was! We chose this restaurant for dinner based on Unilocal reviews and am I ever glad we checked it out. Our waitress was excellent and the food was fabulous! We had the Fishwife Seafood Combo, Cioppino, as well as a Dungeness Crab Cocktail to start — all great choices! They even had wine from New Zealand on the menu(my favorite), and having it served in a short plain glass didn’t bother me at all. Their prices are very reasonable for fresh seafood. You can always tell if a restaurant is good by the crowd in the place — guests were mainly in their 40’s and up who don’t mind to paying a little more for great food. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

The fishwife was awesome :) super adorable place with really nice waitresses. I felt like I was transported to Oceanside and served fish caught right out the door :) The fish sandwich was light and delicate(really letting the fish shine). The salmon Alfredo was incredibly flavorful and lush. If you have time, check out the fishwife :) it’s worth the wait!

Hovering around 4.5 stars but you gotta be realistic. okay, one gripe, some of the large amount of clam strips were a little over cooked. great waffle fries. Super service, very friendly casual vibe. Not an area of town i come to often and had some eating choices but i like seafood. guy at next table had the cod fish & chips and traded me a taste – clean and fresh, not greasy. Good value for quality and quantity, but you know this isn’t Jakes. Think of the best sausage gravy you’ve had on a biscuit – the chowder here is thicker and chunkier than that, but I was already full. $ 2 beers on tuesday but I resisted.

We decided to come here because the pictures people post and the reviews were so good. Saying this place is «good» is an understatement. This is the best seafood I have had in a long time. Absolutely loved it. The atmosphere and the whole experience was awesome 10 stars!

Came here for dinner while on vacation. It was really hard finding a place that had primarily seafood and was affordable and casual. Fishwife met both these criteria for us that night. Service: We were greeted as soon as we walked in and were taken to the back of the restaurant and seated. After quickly handing us menus the waitress disappeared for about 10 minutes. Granted the restaurant was busy, we had no drinks and couldn’t ask any questions about the specials. When she finally came back the service got better, but it was nothing special. It was hard to find her again when we wanted the check and refills. Food: We started with calamari and clam chowder. Both were okay but nothing that stood out. We both had the combination basket with fish, scallops, oysters, and fries. This plate was really good, but we both did not care for the tartar sauce and the cocktail sauce. The tartar sauce was practically all mayonnaise and the cocktail sauce tasted mostly like ketchup. Ambiance: quaint and cute. I loved the random decorations. I would probably go back because it’s hard to find an affordable and casual seafood place in the area, however, my expectations on food/service would be lower.

Pretty good seafood at a very reasonable price. The fried clams were crispy and fresh. Had the seafood basket for entrée. Good amount of fried goodness — scallops, prawns, Alaskan halibut, cod — and crispy fries. Some of us had steamed fish which was tasty as well. Located kind of away from the hustle and bustle, which might explain the lack of customers on a Sunday evening. But very good value for money.

I have been looking for this(type) of seafood place for years… at the coast! But no, It is right here in North Portland. We walked in at around 5:30−6pm, and were seated immediately. It took a bit for our waitress to arrive to take our order, but she had just gotten a few other tables. And, she probably saw that we were first timers needing a bit longer to peruse the menu. Once she did arrive, service was pleasant, relaxed and efficient. Menu was extensive and had a lot of options for our group of 6. My kids loved starting with a side cup each of baby shrimp… very helpful considering they were hungry, tired and fading quickly. Our group ordered: Grilled Cod with broccolini and steamed potatoes with salad Bay shrimp salad(mounded with shrimp) over mesclun Clams strips Basket with waffle fries and cole slaw Kids Fish and chips Calamari Basket with waffle fries and cole slaw with an additional cup of chowder. Calamari was excellent! Crisp, light batter subtle fish flavor with a side garlic sauce.(Kids ended up chowing the calamari) Waffle fries had great potato flavor. Lightly crisp on the outside tender and flavorful inside. Clam strips good as well. Chowder had great flavor. It is on the thick side, so some may take issue… And, bonus for being served with oyster crackers. Atmosphere was very relaxed. Combination 50’s diner and costal cannery area hole in the wall fish house feel. Customers looked like good, hard-working locals… This is one of my all time favorite restaurants in Portland… Hands down!

Its not fancy. Its not perfect. But this little fish place makes me happy. They turn out some good food. It was my birthday and my kid was in the hospital. So. after visiting her my ex said, its been a sucky day at least let me take you to dinner. I picked here for the cioppino(I like the halibut parmesan too but it was a stew night). I overheard another diner say its yesterdays fish scraps in a stew. Ok. But whats wrong with. that? its delicious! Scallops, shrimp in three sizes„ tender salmon chunks and halibut pieces in a tomatoey broth with celery and carrots… with crusty bread. This was comforting and tasty. I had salad, oh and we shared awesome calamari, and there was booze. This was a good birthday meal. We ate too much calamari to have room for dessert. But if you do, get the bacon brownie caramel sundae. Just do it. Share it with a buddy. So good. P. S. they dont take American Express. Plan accordingly.
