Portland Montessori Collaborative is a Montessori pre-​school in Portland, Oregon offering full and part day care for infants through Kindergarten. We are a year round school offering four and five day schedules for full and part day care.

We boast wholesome meals cooked on site, trained and experienced staff, and a commitment to environmental sustainability, and outdoor curriculum.

History

Established in 2012.

Hilary Smith and Mercedes Castle bring a combined eighteen years of experience working with infants through preschool to our collaborative effort. After successfully founding several Certified Family Child Care homes offering Montessori programs, Hilary and Mercedes seized an opportunity to merge their programs into a beautiful Certified Center in order to expand their offerings. Now serving eighty children and their families, Portland Montessori Collaborative is a leader in Montessori education in Portland.

Business Owner

Hilary is the Administrative Director of The Portland Montessori Collaborative. Hilary holds AMI Montessori Teaching Credential at the Primary (3 – 6) and Assistant to Infancy (birth — 3) levels as well as a M.Ed. Hilary received a Certificate of Advanced Studies from Loyola College as well. Hilary is active in the Oregon Montessori community, and is the 201314 Oregon Montessori Association Board President. Hilary is working towards completing a post graduate Certificate of Advanced Studies in Education. Hilary has taught for over nine years both in private and public sectors of the Montessori community in Oregon and New Zealand. After working for several years at the Native Montessori School, Hilary opened Cedar Montessori School in the fall of 2006. When she is not busy in the office or the classroom Hilary enjoys spending time with her husband Aaron and her two sons, and walking her two crazy Jack Russel Terriers, Peanut and Pickle.
