Description

Specialties

We work one-on-one with students, Dyslexic and otherwise, to provide the tutoring they need to excel in their reading comprehension and overall studies. Specializing in phonemic awareness, The Reading Toolkit can use your child’s unique skills to help students strengthen their reading and writing skills, including spelling and pronunciations. Dyslexia is addressed in a multi-sensory program, and no diagnosis is necessary.

For many children experiencing difficulties with reading and spelling, the inability to break words down into their component parts (phonemes) prevents them from being able to use phonics. Phonics instruction becomes a series of stumbling blocks instead of tools for successful reading. This program provides those tools in interactive and instructional sessions.

If you are looking for an extra boost to your child’s education, whether they are falling behind in school or just looking to get ahead of the curve, call The Reading Toolkit today to set up your first appointment.

History

Established in 2007.

From the start of my business, my target customers have been children struggling in school due to dyslexia, general learning disabilities and non-specific reading difficulties. The focus is phonemic awareness, fluency, sight words, and homework support. I am dedicated to helping children succeed in school via literacy.

I named my business «The Reading Toolkit» because students learn a series of tools for decoding (reading) and encoding (spelling). I teach the tools and many ways to use them, and lead the student into their role of putting those tools to use.

I find great reward in watching their success and self-esteem increase with every lesson.
