History
Established in 2006.
Thirst Wine Bar & Bistro Owners (and spouses) Gary Kneski and Leslie Palmer are originally from New York. Gary from Long Island and Leslie from the Finger Lakes /Syracuse area. Both have enjoyed wine for many years, however fell in love with the wines of the Pacific NW when they moved here ten years ago from Boston when Leslie took a corporate marketing position at Intel Corporation.
After the birth of their second child in 2005, both wanted to turn passion into a challenge and focused on opening a wine bar that filled a void in Oregon: A wine bar that features on local wines and local foods and showcases the most beautiful area in Portland, The RiverPlace Esplanade on the Willamette River! The concept for Thirst was born and opened March 3, 2006. In April 2008, we opened the ‘River Room’, our private party space where in in addition to parties we hold classes and special events, like art receptions and charity events.
Leslie & Gary have three kids and enjoy traveling.
