Trader Joe’s

Always love TJs and will continue to shop here. The missing star is for two things. The produce being packaged in multiples. ie: It’s rare that I need more that 2 zucchinis. This has improved however, and I hope it continues! The other reason is for the employee that sings ALL THE TIME. I’m all for people being «happy and you know it clap your hands» and all, but for some reason it makes me uneasy, and I personally don’t care for her voice. I admire the confidence 100%, but eh.

Trader Joe’s is a great store.
They always have great snacks that you want to eat all day long.
Chocolate biscotti, yes please.
Everything is reasonably priced and of high quality.
This Trader Joe’s has a massive cheese section and boy do I love cheese.
They also sell kosher chicken/​turkey which is a must in my household.
I wish they sold kosher beef.
Overall they have a nice selection of goods and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

Random incident– I dropped my bag with a jar of jam in it and it shattered and I cut my finger on it, the costumer service lady was so kind, she was ready to give me a free jar from the store, and I didn’t even buy it there! After I finished shopping, my checker was also very kind.

It’s hard to get a good checker here these days but today we had the best one, Julia. The guy next to her wouldn’t let go to my husbands cart while we insisted we wanted to be in Miss Pretty on pinks line. He just didn’t get it. He even looked at us funny again as we were leaving.
We aren’t the usual rush rush shoppers & like it when our checker actually pays attention to us & have a nice convo. Lately we have been ignored or been insulted by checkers here, so yes we will gladly wait in line to get our preferred lady in pink.

They really don’t have anything here. Occasionally I go to grab a snack, but almost always leave disappointed that they don’t have even the most basic necessities. 2 stars (rather than 1) because the staff is nice.

I love Trader Joes. You got me, but that doesn’t mean that this establishment wasn’t amazing.
We were fortunate to have this TJ be just minutes away from our Airbnb, as it provided us with so much fresh fruits, frozen goodies and very well priced wine and beer. Like all TJ’s, the format is very familiar, but this particular TJ was very well stocked and offered everything, included $ 5 for an entire carton of figs! Sigh, happiness.

(Updated from a 2 star to 4 star because my experiences at this particular location have been good in the past. Unfortunately this particular visit was a painfully awkward 1 star experience.)
Just had Brad the cashier checkout all of my groceries while carrying on a boisterous conversation with a different customer who had already checked out. Absolutely zero verbal acknowledgement that we were there. Not only that, but the customer was standing by my wife while she entered her pin/​attempted to complete a transaction while being ignored by the cashier who should be facilitating the transaction. If the lady was standing any closer to my wife while she was entering her pin, it would be breaking basic laws of physics/​human decency. This is the first negative review I’ve written on Unilocal.It’s one thing to have friendly and genuine conversations with each customer, but when someone is done checking out, you should end the conversation and then pay attention to the next transaction. Having been a cashier for many years, I was really saddened by his complete inability to realize how awkward and wrong that was. It would be like someone talking to to a bank teller who you are trying to make a deposit with. Not to mention the topic of conversation was completely inappropriate for any work place, and I consider myself to be really tolerant of bullshit. Good thing we weren’t buying anything embarrassing. I was blown away by how bad it was compared to my usual Trader Joe’s experience.
TL/​DR: Brad obviously doesn’t want to stay employed that bad.

Placed an order for several cases of wine for my wedding from another Portland TJ’s, and when I came in to pick them up, I was told they had ‘forgotten’ to place the order. Potential future-​wife Bridezilla moment averted by the super cool people at this Trader Joes! Not only did they clear the shelves of all the remaining wine they had in stock, they gave us some great beer recommendations AND the manager came out and gave us a bouquet of flowers as we were loading the wine into our car as a ‘congratulations on the wedding’ gift. Totally unexpected, and very much appreciated, especially after getting blown off by the other TJ’s. Shop here for the superior service and staff.

This is my favorite Trader Joe’s in Portland. I think I’ve been to all of them by now. It’s spacious and parking is easy.

I love trader joe’s! They are always so nice and cheerful! Everyone here definitely has a really cool vibe.
This trader joe’s is set up a little differently than the other’s I’ve been to so it took me a few minutes to get aquainted with this lay out but, it’s still pretty easy to find everything.
They are organized, well stocked, and full staffed! If you can’t find something there are a lot of employees around to ask questions.
They have a pretty good selection of produce, not the biggest selection I’ve seen but also not the smallest. They have a smaller selection of snacks than I’ve seen at trader joe’s but still, this is probably one of my favorite places to go to for guilty pleasure snacks! Yummy and affordable.
A nice big lot so plenty of parking, but not the biggest store. Everything is kind of spread out in the store though so there is plenty of room to move around.

My life revolves around Trader Joes. Cheap, amazing and FUN food. Not to mention the wine…

I live very close to Trader Joes. Even if I did not I would still make the journey. The staff (for the most part) is very helpful and freindly. The selection of snack foods, frozen entrees and delicious cheese will always keep me coming back :)

This company is amazing. They really help our community. I volunteer with a local organization that assists women that are in need. I recently came in to pick up a donation and when the manager realized that it had accidentally been given to another organization, he made sure to get on the phone and find another location (SE 82^nd) that could help us out. The only bummer is that they don’t get to see how these small acts really touch other people’s lives. To see the smiles on these women that are often low and struggling, makes my heart swell. Because they are able to donate product that isn’t sellable and give it to people in need is reason enough to support this company.
I’ve been shopping here for a long time and love that I know where everything is. I don’t get overwhelmed by too many options. There is always someone eager and willing to help me out in any way. I’ve never had a bad experience at this location and proudly will continue to support this business.
It also helps that it’s a hot spot for people watching and maybe some eye candy. It’s really got the best neighborhood feel of all their locations. I especially appreciate how respectfully the staff interacts with each other.

I worked for TJ’s for 6 years (16 years ago), and they are why I’m in Oregon; transferred to their new Oregon stores. I didn’t know it then, but they are the greatest food store around. They have EVERYTHING I aim for; Organic veggies, grass-​fed meats, and LOW prices. Their frozen rice bags are a staple, as are their frozen chicken tenderloins. Cheap broth, and cheap wine for cooking (don’t drink 2-​buck Chuck). This food store is perfect.

I miss shopping at Trader Joes, then I go back and then I remember why I stopped shopping there. I want one (or ten) of everything, which I can’t afford, even though the prices are very good for the quality of products. The variety is very good too. Employees are super friendly and helpful. The store was packed though, so it took quite a while to find what we needed. Things aren’t arranged the way one would expect. Cookies in the bakery section? Of course not, they are above the frozen food. Um, yeah, that makes perfect sense (or it makes me a dummy.) Well, at least I’m a happy-​full-​of-​cookies dummy. :-)

This store used to share space with a juice and fruit vendor named Limbo. When Limbo shuttered, TJ’s took advantage and expanded to occupy the entire building.
Smart. Very smart.
Several sections are larger than a typical TJs. There is a better selection of TJ-​ish items than at the more crammed stores. It also makes the shopping experience more relaxing (assuming you actually found a parking spot).
Most of us know that a typical weekend outing to a TJ’s is almost as much fun as Black Friday. At this store, the only terrible part is the parking lot.
I have never even tried to do weekly shopping at a TJ’s. I’m an older guy with kids. It just doesn’t quite fit our lifestyle. If I were half my age and childless, I believe I would hit this store both hard and often. It is entirely possible to get everything you need for your busy, busy week here. Not cheap but possible.
Basically, TJ’s is where my willpower goes to die. Everything I want; nothing I need.
All in one convenient locale. Dammit.
I typically plan to buy 6 or 7 items when I come in here. I typically walk out with 15 or more. It’s just that kind of place. At least I’m stocked up on munchies for the next little while. If you like TJ’s, this one’s certainly worth a try.

This neighborhood store (Reed /​Kenilworth) is a real gem. It is well staffed and clean. Staff is great at making recommendations and answering questions. Parking seems decent, though I often park on the street behind it.

No other store like it. Absolute heaven for impulse shoppers. A mecca for snacks. They have a little bit of everything to make everyone satisfied. Meats, cheese, produce, etc… too much for a simple review. Here’s the deal. some items are so cheap, you fill your little basket up quickly. Then, it gets heavy, and you get a baskcart to unload your goodies in. At the register, you realize all those «cheap» deals add up, and your jaw drops, and you begin to get flush as you fumble for your debit card. Wow!!! $ 75 worth of snacks !! Jesus H Christ !!! I need more restraint!
Excuse me while I snack on some cheese I can’t pronounce and guzzle some «three buck Chuck». Burp !!
Oh…beware of going on Sunday.

Okay, be honest, what are you putting in your cookies that make them so darn good? Come ooooon, TJ’s, fess up. *wipes the crumbs off face and scarfs down another trail mix cookie* And what happened to the orange-​cranberry scones? Quit being silly and bring them back. Now.

*I wish there was more organic veggie and lettuce options.
*Tea section is sometimes lacking.
*Fresh pizza dough, YES PLEASE garlic!
*Veggie chips and fire roasted salsa needed every time.
