Trader Joe’s

In theory, it’s a good idea to come here, but once I get to the store I’m always reminded how poor the space planning is. Starting with the parking lot, everything is at such a tight 90 degree angle that it takes quite a bit to maneuver. Then inside you cannot move 18 inches without somebody backing into you or pushing a cart directly in front of you so that’ your stuck until they’ve decided what it is that they want. Today I was corralled by 3 children with their mini carts… that’s not helpful! Maybe if they could provide the half sized carts like Whole Foods, they could alleviate some of the frustration… Then on top of that the price of their bulk nuts went up. Phooey!

I used to love trader joe’s but since making the clean transition to a GF cleaner lifestyle, I don’t know how much TJs has to offer. the fried rice has gluten from the soy sauce… the gf bread is unsweetened rice bread when I know new seasons has a yummy cinnamon raisin option for those in the market for a gf slice. still LOVE tj’s desserts and branded sparkling water!!!

I was just at Trader Joe’s, waiting for the restroom. An employee was waiting to get in to clean it, but he let me in first (thanks). He was standing there with rubber gloves on, with a mop and bucket, and… a large cat box scoop. There are no cats at Trader Joe’s, and no cat litter in the Trader Joe’s restrooms. WHAT WAS HE GOING TO SCOOP?! :O
Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised to see that TJ’s has actually lowered the already-​low price of their 100% pure cranberry juice from $ 3.99 to $ 2.99 — at Fred Meyer, 32 oz. of 100% cranberry juice is $ 7.99!
Whenever I get into Trader Joe’s, I always, always pick up a bottle of Châteauneuf-​du-​Pape, even if I don’t need it. I mean, you always need it… but I always make sure to grab one on principle, because it’s a whole $ 19.99 for Châteauneuf-​du-​Pape. It’s usually dark and pouring when I get there, so I have a free coffee shot first. I also rely on Trader Joe’s for All Things Pumpkin Spice during the fall season, especially pumpkin-​flavored drip coffee.
Unfortunately, (wo)man cannot live by Trader Joe’s alone. The selection is just too small. But for those sundry hipster items you gotta have for which the «normal» grocery charges an exorbitant amount, Trader Joe’s is the place to be. And you can even pick up some groceries while you’re there.

Trader Joes is probably my favorite place. Ever. They have every kind of food you could ever want. I’ve had memorably positive encounters with all of their employees. They offer samples. The packaging on the food is so cute. It’s not too expensive. So thankful for Trader Joes

Had the most horrible night after my car broken into next to trader joes, but their staff called the police and got me a bottle of water. I love their specialty items as well.

Man, what a lovely experience I had at this trader joes, and with Jay as my checker. The store is super organized, they seem fully staffed (no shortage of people ready to help, as I’ve experienced at other locations), and everyone I encountered was genuinely friendly and engaged. So much so that I am sitting in my car, seconds after leaving, writing this review! Killer job, Jay and team! Thanks for the warm service. :)

Love Trader Joe’s & most of the staff! A majority of them have great customer service & Paygar & Rachel are two of my fav’s! I would give 5 stars but there is one employee in the yogurt/​dairy section that’s super creepy. If you ask him a question he just stares at you & it’s very awkward. The rest of the staff definitely makes up for it though. Sometimes the power greens aren’t available which is tough but such is life. Great prices & great products, especially when it’s organic!

A great trader joes location! The one I’ve come to for 5+ years. Nice layout, good parking, close to I-​84 freeway and downtown. I love the specialty food you can find here for a fraction of other grocery store prices. I just wish there was one closer to where I reside, East of 122^nd Ave.

There is a lovely teddy bear of a man named Cory working the check out who turned around my terrible day. Graced me with a bouquet of beautiful red roses and made me smile from the inside out.

The rest of the staff is lovely, and their groceries are the greatest. But today, they were exceptional. Go Trader Joe’s.

Yes — VERY GOOD. Easy to navigate through (though often busy).

Trader Joe’s, why have I ignored you for so long? In the sea of expensive grocery stores, this place is a cool drink of cheap (and tasty) water! It has just about everything you’d look for in a store, for a super fair price. I can get a backpack full of goodies for under $ 20.
Their produce section is always well stocked, fresh and well priced. I’m a huge fan of their Cruciferous Crunch (shredded brussell sprouts, kale and cabbage) that I haven’t found elsewhere. Tack on some of the tastiest bacon I’ve found in not a meat shop, fantastic frozen options & a huge selection of beer/wine…this is basically my new go-​to store.
Even when it gets hella busy, the cashiers work quickly and staff is helpful when looking for specifics. Just watch out, the parking lot is a shit show.

The store is organized in a way that makes sense, so it’s easy to find what you’re looking for. The fresh salads are healthy and tasty and the frozen entrees are well priced.

Trader Joe’s is great for snacky food items, coffee, yogurt and cereals, I enjoy their meats and floral section. They have some really tasty prepared foods like sandwiches and salads.
I wouldn’t go to Trader Joe’s however for my produce. And if you’re looking for a particular brand of something other than Trader Joe’s brand – you wont find it here.
My bill here is usually way cheaper than if I were to go to a Safeway or Whole Foods.

TJs was easily in my ‘top 5 things I missed while living abroad’ list, and the fact that this is now my local grocery still hasn’t gotten old, and I’m not sure if it ever will. Beside the reasons we all love TJs (how is it that they so supremely blend the feeling of getting a great deal on budget basics while also uncovering sexy luxuriousness like, ahem, Thai chili lime cashews?) this store has a few exceptional things going for it:
1. The sample lady in the back is seriously hilarious. She also makes enormous portions and still doesn’t throw side eyes when I go in for thirds and fourths. I think my kid and I devoured an entire package of lamb koftas.
2. The parking lot is huge, and for good reason.
3. The staff honestly doesn’t mind helping you to your car. Who does that anymore? (Answer = TJs)
The only downfall is its own popularity. Avoid at all costs on Saturday and Sunday, or generally after 3pm when the produce starts to look as thinned out as John Travolta’s 2011 hairline. (Don’t worry, they do exactly what he did and replenish the supply when no one is looking.)

So Trader Joe’s as a company I heard it’s phenomenal they give their part-​time employees benefits… they never have a job opening at least when I’ve looked.
They had a lot of varieties of premade salads one of the best elections out of all the stores we have gone to… reasonably priced about $ 3.99 from Kale to spinach base, best selection of premade ready to go salads.
it is a very community-​based store although the prices are lower than Freddy’s they still have a great selection of products.
I consider Trader Joe’s like a smaller version of whole foods you get cheaper things but the selection is also much smaller.
Their people «employees“aren’t as friendly not so much racist but they don’t ask you if you need help nor they don’t seem to have experts like whole foods has in almost every section of their store.

I was visiting the Grotto yesterday and decided to check Unilocal to see if there was a nearby TJs to pick up a few items and this location popped up. The outside looks fancy and updated with dark wood and expansive windows, maybe this is a newer location? There was a large (for TJs) parking lot and I luckily found a spot as a car was leaving. It was a Sunday afternoon so it was understandably bustling with customers. I found the items I was looking for and a few uniquely Northwest items that they don’t normally carry in the Southern California TJs (where I live now) like a kale, sweet potato, and cheese pizza. I did notice a package of Beet Hummus was on the shelf that expired that very day (and it was puffed up like it had gone bad), so I would be sure to check sell by/​expiration dates closely (here and everywhere else, it’s easy to overlook).
They have cute mini carts for the children to push and «shop» with as well, and it seems to be a neighborhood staple. I noticed a woman who shopped there and took a cab home, so it may be a popular pick for city dwellers who don’t have a TJs within walking/​public transportation distance too.

The Trader Joe’s in the Hollywood District has an authentic feel that would appeal to most of Portland.
It is communal, filled with variety and organic as our obsession has been. There is a large parking lot and it’s right across the street from the Hollywood Transit Center, of which includes a MAX station.
This is a big Trader Joe’s. It has all the usual stops and looks just like any other of their locations. As always, they have the unique stuff like premade frozen latkes, which are sold in too many stores besides Trader Joe’s.
I’ve been here many times. Sometimes it’s crowded and other times, it’s not. They have lots of checkout lines for when they are.
Organic is something we like to gloat about. People in Portland sometimes will lecture you like your an axe murderer if you don’t add organic to your personal life. Here you can pay a low price for the label, despite controversial private label practices. They have an insane amount of variety. You can get all kinds of ethnic food, food in chocolate and so forth.
Ultimately, this Trader Joe’s suffices.

Besides the good food and reasonable prices at Trader Joes, I love that I can get a tiny cup of good coffee with cream and sugar as a free sample. I also like their lavender scented liquid laundry detergent. Works great and smells good.
Here are some other things we always buy there:
— Coconut oil cooking spray
— the dark chocolate covered shortbread star cookies they sell during the holidays
— frozen polenta with spinach and carrots. They are an easy side dish and quite delicious.
— Liquid bath soap

Aside from the fact that the lot is 90−100% full nearly all the time (I actually prefer to park on the side street whenever possible at this location), I do love, love, love this store!
All my favorite items are always in stock. The prices here are very reasonable (except for meat poultry, yikes!) And the produce is fresh (love the fresh basil plants and mixed heirloom tomatoes, delish!)
The employees are ALL very friendly and super helpful. And, I love that I can bag my own groceries :)
Probably my favorite thing about TJs is the great selection of reasonably priced fresh flowers. A usually buy 2 different bouquets and blend them together into one big bouquet. The flowers always last at least a week, sometimes two weeks!
The only thing I don’t like is that there are NO cart returns in the lot. No matter how far away you park, the only place to return carts is to the front entrance. I don’t mind the walk, it just sucks when its pouring down rain and/​or freezing cold.

I’ve been to several Trader Joe’s here and in Texas and like always, all the same great foods like dark chocolate edamame and cookie spread along with some nice eggplants and whole milk ricotta cheese.
It’s just a great place to go, once in awhile. I couldn’t shop there all the time, I’d be broke and too well fed. Chicken sausage with spinach and feta was calling me too. Maybe next time. Well, the turkey cutlets looked just as good. Too many choices and not enough money to get it all.
