Cute little bake shop run by two owners. We went on a Saturday morning away from the frenzy of Portland brunch scene. We sometimes just don’t have the patience to wait 2 hours! We tried: Bavarian cream popovers– yummy bavarian vanilla custard inside soft fluffy custard Blueberry cheesecake brownies– it was our first time trying cheesecake brownies and it was a treat to savor Frittata biscuit sandwich– frittata, tomatoes, cheddar between a big biscuit was a satisfying breakfast. I have lived in Mississippi so I know my biscuits and they were a little over baked and with a darker brown crust which biscuits usually are not. The owner was friendly and did let us bring coffee from the coffee shop next door. Seating is limited with just 5 barstools. They should probably move some decorations off the bar table to make some space for the plates but maybe their target customer is take out only! Their prices are not bad either and so I think this bakery deserves a second visit.

Good guys own and are passionate about their craft. I was very satisfied with the weekend frittata and egg soufflé-looking thing that’s regularly offered. Prices are reasonable and they serve Illy coffee. Cute spot, but parking isn’t very favorable.

Have you ever had something so tasty that you can’t stop thinking about it and crave having it again? Well, this is the problem created by VilleVelo Bake Shop. I stopped in here last spring while on a break of the little homes tour. VilleVelo is truly a tiny bakery — with lots of choices. I selected a quick snack for the road, and also picked up a few other items to take home for later as I had company from out of town. Over the next few days we tried everything and each was delicious, but what stands out most was the wonderful slice of german chocolate cake. This was no ordinary slice, It was a big slice, big enough for my house guest and I to share for the next several days. Remarkable was that it remained fresh tasting all that time. Even more remarkable was the wonderful flavor and texture, as the cake was moist and smooth, the frosting was creamy and crunchy from the nuts and even a little chewy from all the coconut, with just the right chocolate, coconut and nut flavor, with none being too strong or sweet. Now for the BIG problem with little VilleVelo; It’s their changing menu! Particularly that they feature a different sort of cake everyday, where they should instead be making me my german chocolate cake!!! I have been back several times in my quest of another slice of heaven, but have not hit it on the right day. Hey VilleVelo, please make some more of your great cake!

We loved this place! Stopped by while in town for my bachelorette after meeting Jeffrey at Mother’s in the city. So impressed by the service and deliciousness of the baked goods– highly recommend! The popover with the cream cheese filling and chocolate whipped cream– to die for!

I just drove from NW to NE to try out this bake shop. Wanted something savory and really enjoyed the spinach feta strata. Daniel warmed it and I had brunch in a single bite. The sweets were tempting too, so… I’ve never had such a delicious raspberry scone. Flaky, not crumbly; moist, not dry; berry berry flavorful– the way I like them best. Next time soon, I’ll be buying by the boxful for the office. The picture of the boxer next to the dog treats left me smiling, too.

Why is this city trying to turn me into a heifer? My sweet tooth can’t handle another delicious bakery. I’m actually thrilled to see this newish bakery doing well. It’s always a bummer to see mom and pop places close down. Logistically it’s in the tiny shopping center on Prescott and 15th next to muscadine, pok pok noi and a new pot shop(hey its Oregon) So this is more of a morning bakery shop. I’ve gone close to closing(2:30ish) and the options definitely become more scarce. I’ve tried a whole slew of cookies, cake and scones and find their bundt cake and scones to be amongst some of the best. I can think of a few cookie places in PDX that make softer, tastier, and chewier cookies, but the scones and cake-awesome! Its a bit pricey for the goods, and service is a bit cool and disinterested. There’s also no seating inside, but a nice little patio outside to enjoy your baked goods. I would check it out if you’re around.

This is my go-to«I don’t know what to eat for lunch» and«I’d like something sweet but not too sweet» place. In addition, both Jeffrey and Daniel are such lovely people and the whole place(which is super cute and welcoming) is just clean, baked-goodness smelling, overall a happy place. Everything I’ve had here was good, but my favorites are: whatever vegetable tart they have, the fresh made baguettes, and the scones and cookies. My doggie loves the biscuits too. Go — make a friend, support a local business, and eat happy.

When visiting Portland, I always walk the neighborhoods to see what I can discover. What a treat this charming hole-in-the-wall bakery is! I grabbed a slice of quiche so I wouldn’t feel too guilty about the extravagant brownie I also ordered. Of course the brownie was excellent being super dark chocolatey and HUGE. The quiche was truly remarkable, though… perhaps the best I’ve had! Its crust was light and flakey. The ubiquitous tomato which graced its top was more than just decorative, it actually was tangy and flavorful as were the mushrooms and onions tucked inside. Bravo to VilleVelo for a quick and satisfying lunch! Kudos, too, to the bakers for baking dog treats and engaging customers in convos about their dogs!

Some of the best baked goods I’ve ever had. Definitely recommend this place. The employee was super friendly and helpful, and even brought our food outside to us after he heated it up.

Rugelach was excellent, best I have ever had with a slight tang that I could not identify but the strata was flavorless.

Really darling bake shop tucked in the corner of the building. I’ve found the popovers to be very tasty and the coffee to be top notch. This bakery is ran with a passion, and it’s nice to support that kind of energy. A welcomed addition to the neighborhood. Stop in for a snack and enjoy the patio.

We’re so glad to have Ville Velo in the neighborhood. Since the first bite of one of their amazing popovers, we were hooked. We’ve made this warm, welcoming little shop a regular weekend excursion. They’ve so much more than a typical pastry selection would offer. They’re tucked in the corner between Muscadine & Extracto but not at all hard to find. Don’t wait until you need your next coffee fix or are waiting for brunch… search them out and be happy!

This is a review by a vegetarian Tiny little bakery wedged between Extracto and Muscadine. 4 stools and ledge if you want to stay’n’scarf but it’s more for grab’n’go. Cookies, muffins, cake slices. For $ 3.25 you can get a popover filled to order with some kind of berry cream. It’s decadent and very good. Coffee is drip illy if you’re not in the mood to wait for for a pour-over from next door. Careful to not eat the doggie treats. 8am-3pm t, w, th and 7 – 3 f-su so it’s breakfast treats not«stop to pick up after-dinner dessert» treats.
