Vitality Salon & Spa

Well i previously gave Vitality a two star rating. bumping it down to one. I came in once before for a hair cut with stacy. It was mediocre at best but i had $ 150 gift certificate so i figured I’d come back for a trim. How bad could it be, right? My appointment was at 2:30 pm. I’m sitting in front of the salon right now and they’re closed. It is now 2:48 pm. I didn’t even receive a phone call to cancel my appointment! Please, if you are ever considering going to this place, just don’t. Save yourself the frustration. When i called earlier i had told the man i spoke to that i had a gift certificate and he said he’d have to call stacy to make sure i could use it… it was a gift certificate for their business for products and services. why would you need to ask if i could use it? I told him stacy had initialed it with the remaining amount of $ 60 and his response was, «i’ll have stacy call you today». I did not receive a call. I left them a message on their voicemail about my appointment but at this point i probably won’t ever get a call back.

I live very close to this salon. I keep hoping that I can use them for blow/​out styles for special events. It would be great for 3 or 4 times a month to use their services. I’ve booked appointments three times. Each time they call and cancel an hour or so in advance. Always for a different reason.
Until I read the reviews I thought it was a coincidence. Now I know it is business as usual.

Worst experience I’ve ever had with a salon. I had gone here a long time ago and saw Stacy, and she did really good blonde which is hard to find. I had my hair recently colored by a different salon and they turned it a copper sort-​of red, so the first thing I thought of was Stacy at Vitality. She was unavailable and so I scheduled with Stephen. I came in and I showed him a picture of what I wanted and what I had asked for at the other place. He says, «Oh you want me to fix your hair?» Well ya that’s a hairstylists job is to fix hair, «ya I can make you look like that». Awesome I thought. He went in the back and started mixing color, at this point I was scheduled for a highlight I thought I was going to be getting a highlight since there was no conversation about a change in service or a change in price. He came back and started foiling the back of my head, we laughed about how the person who turned my hair red could have mistaken the color that I showed them in the picture. We had a good rapport going, then when ¼ of the back of my head was completely foiled he said jokingly «I’m going to have to charge you extra for all these foils.» I laughed but then started thinking, shit is he going to charge me extra we didn’t talk about it, I scheduled a highlight so I wouldn’t think so. Hours went by I had to leave early because I was going to be late for work and I left yellow/​white all over hideous yellow/​white hair. I was so embarrassed to go to work. This ordeal lasted two days because I had to go back so he could in his words «fix it» and I was relieved thinking oh thank god I’m not going to stay like this. I went back, he over processed my roots and toned me to gwen stefani white. I was so mortified I didn’t know what to do. Was this my fault did I not communicate well. I ended up paying almost $ 300 for a service that was never explained to me. I asked other hairstylists and they said that they talk to people for a while before doing what is called a color correction, I didn’t get that. I just got a «ya I can make your hair look like that» a color correction is a big deal. My hair was falling out like crazy I have to get it all chopped off because it’s falling apart and looks awful (even though he charged me for a haircut as well). I returned a conditioner because I couldn’t afford it after the ordeal. It took them two weeks to get my money refunded to me and when I expressed how upset I was about my hair and how I wanted my money back Stephen said no. He said he did exactly what I asked and he made me look exactly like the picture. His words were, «I’m a colorist and I know». I couldn’t believe what a pompous, self-​absorbed ass this guy was being. When we spoke on the phone he kept saying that he explained it to me, it’s as if he created a scenario that never happened just to save face. I was blown away, it’s been almost three weeks, my hair still takes forever to dry because it’s so porous and it’s still breaking off more than normal.

If you value your time, your schedule and customer service DO NOT go to Vitality. My first bad experience was when I scheduled a bikini wax one day before a beach vacation. I showed up on time, on the right day, to find the salon closed. I waited, and waited. No one showed up. So I called and left several messages asking what happened. No one ever called me back. Should have learned. My second bad experience was with a hair appointment. I showed up on time. Steven was there (a substitute for Stacey who had a personal conflict). Unfortunately Steven didn’t have the keys to the salon (he’s either a co-​owner or married to the owner). After several calls and about 30 minutes later he said no one would bring him the keys so he had to drive back home (about 90 minutes round trip). I was actually willing to wait (I really needed a cut and color just coming off vacation and heading into a busy work week) but Steven said he was all booked up the rest of the day. Maybe he could get me in after 5:00, which wouldn’t work for me since I had plans for the evening. I decided I’d better find a more reliable salon and informed Steven of that. He actually told me he’d prefer if I went elsewhere given that attitude. Unbelievable customer service. I will say that Stacey (who normally does, well did, my hair) is good and friendly, although she has changed my appointments several times for personal reasons. A very unprofessionally run business and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

This place must be really awful. It is in my neighborhood, so I checked it out here. Please look at the filtered ratings as well. They are very revealing. I understand the concept and process Unilocal uses in filtering, but these negative reviews are obviously valid and should be available to viewers. That is what Unilocal is for!

I purchased a Groupon for a haircut and color treatment/​highlight. This is a family owned and operated salon. Husband-​Wife-​Daughter are all stylists here. I had a bit of difficulty finding the salon and was a few minutes late. I was NOT warmly welcomed. The lady owner (wife) did my hair. She gave me a terrible haircut and seemed put out having to do it. Same with the highlight. She was not friendly and told me that they put the groupon out for a friend stylist they had put on part time. Apparently he was not available to do his Groupon purchasers Hair. I felt uncomfortable the whole time as my stylist (Owner/​wife) let me know she had been in business for 28 years and did not need new clients !! Don’t worry… with your unwelcoming attitude– you won’t have those worries. I DO NOT recommend this salon… and for someone with 28 years experience I would expect at least a decent haircut !!!

First of all, let me say that the only reason I am giving Vitality a star is because there was nothing wrong with my sister and I’s actual haircuts. But we received the most horrible service I have ever received in a salon. I had purchased a Groupon for a shampoo, cut, deep conditioning treatment, tint, and style. My sister was in town visiting for the weekend, and I had decided to treat us to some pampering. We both have tight budgets, so this was a big deal for us. My sister got Stephen as her stylist. He asked her what kind of color she was looking for, and she answered honestly, saying that she wanted something close to her natural shade because she wouldn’t be able to touch it up. He very rudely responded with «You do realize what these (Groupons) are for, don’t you? It’s to get new customers.» While I stood there shocked, my sister politely said she lived in California. And from that point on everything went downhill. He was not friendly and very rushed with her hair, not taking the time to even finish blowing it dry completely. He didn’t style it, and she’s not even sure she got the deep conditioning. My stylist was Jeanine, and she was fine and did fine job with my hair — not spectacular but not bad. When we walked up to check out — I had already paid when I ordered the Groupon — Jeanine asked for the $ 30 balance for the highlights. My sister and I were stunned. We said that’s not what we had paid for, we paid for all over color. Jeanine said we wouldn’t have liked the tint, and we would like highlights so much more, so that’s what they had done. I said I had even verified on the phone when I made the appointment that we were getting a tint. Jeanine called it «an honest mistake», but we still owed her $ 30. We paid and left, incredibly mad and frustrated at the horrible service we received and then being cheated out of more money. Completely the opposite of how we’d hoped our afternoon would go. I will never, EVER, go back to that salon, or recommend to anyone. And I would highly suggest anyone considering them to take their business elsewhere.

I received the best salon services and was educated as to how I could keep up with my new and fabulous look! Bill Boley gave me a fresh, modern cut, color, and style that I can maintain with minimal effort. I highly recommend Bill as a forever go-​to expert stylist!

I recently had a cut and an attempt at highlights done, by one of the owners, Stephen. What a nightmare of a process and a horrible end result with my hair. I went in for my scheduled appointment asking for a few highlights underneath and Stephen suggested a few highlights on top. (i.e. all over dark brown and blonde highlights). After a two hour appointment in the morning, I left with essentially an all over color. The highlights were non-​existent. Stephen suggested that I come back in the afternoon. I spent another hour and a half there and left with white stripes with a pink tint at the ends. PINK. I called the salon shortly after I left, concerned with how my hair looked. I was told that Stephen had left for the day, but he would be contacted on a personal line. I heard back from the owner four days later, offering for me to come back again. I appreciate the urgency and great customer service on a four day turn around time for a call back. I asked for a $ 30 refund for the highlights, indicating that I was concerned about more work being done on what looked like already fragile blonde hair at this point. He refused a refund and said I could come back and he would fix it. While Stephen is personable, what I walked out with in terms of hair color, from someone who has supposedly been doing hair for 25 years +, was unacceptable. I’ve had highlights of varying nature — dark to light, light to dark etc and have never left with such damaged, ugly hair. I would not recommend this place for color to anyone. Additionally, in the future, consider conceding $ 30 to the client, Vitality, when you are asking the client to come back a third time to try and get the job that other stylists could have gotten right, on the first try. Grade=F.
