History

Established in 2012.

Whitney Werts Events began out of the passion for the details and personalization that goes into the coordination of each wedding. The Summer after graduating from Santa Clara University with a degree in Marketing, Whitney was asked to be the coordinator for the wedding of a coworker of hers. She took on the challenge as a fun new experience, and by the end of the wedding, she realized Event Coordination was the perfect career path for her– one that combines her passion and talent for high level organization, creativity & design, people management, and customer service.

Whitney dove into the industry head first by assisting and working with several of the top Wedding Planners in the Bay Area. Meanwhile she gained experience in the event rental sector of the industry with her marketing position at La Tavola Fine Linen Rental. A few years later, Whitney Werts Events was officially established.

Whitney grew up playing make-​believe on her family’s banana farm in Santa Barbara, California. Dress up and magical tea parties evolved into hiking local foothills and scavenging the beach for sea glass treasures. She headed north for college to study marketing at Santa Clara University.

After graduation she found a way to dovetail her childhood whimsy and her academic training: event coordination. Whitney fell instantly in love with all aspects of the party planning process and the industry in general. Her favorite part? Whit says it’s bringing her clients’ personality and style into every aspect of the event. From custom stenciled and hand painted driftwood table numbers to vintage mineral stone and pheasant feather boutonnieres.

Whitney is extraordinary — creative, connected, and calm even when the National Weather Service is predicting wind gales and lightning storms on your wedding day. (This won’t happen to you, but if it does… know that she’ll be ON IT.)
Our quirky forest wedding on a 30+ acre family farm needed serious coordination from the start. We wanted to create distinct spaces for the ceremony, cocktail, dinner, and dancing, and needed to rent absolutely everything to do that for 200 people. We also wanted to shuttle guests from the country location to two locations in Portland. Whitney, with her sky-​high attention to detail, arranged and tracked it all from finding vendors to final takedown. Though we know she was planning other weddings, we always felt like we had 100 percent of her attention from the first meeting on.
But where she really wowed was wedding week, when it looked like the one stormy day in Portland’s drought-​level dry summer was going to be our wedding day. She got us through last-​minute tent configuring, lightning rod installation (really happened), shuffling around cocktail/​reception/​bar details, rental adds/​drops, ordering huge white umbrellas, and so much more. The weather was beautiful by the time guests arrived, but if we’d been one inch less ready we know it would have poured. (And even if it had, Whitney had an alternative venue suggestion. That she lined up THE DAY BEFORE the wedding.)
As a bonus, she’s a total delight to work with — as her entire team. Hire her right up!

Whitney is currently helping me plan the design of my July 2015 wedding. She will also be acting as the coordinator for the last 3 weeks of wedding planning and day of. I just wanted to write this review now, to be followed up later. Whitney is a truly wonderful, kind and thoughtful person and events planner. From the beginning, she has gone above and beyond to make sure the design of my wedding matches my vision. She is extremely accessible and responsive, and has answered more frantic questions and phone calls than she signed up for! I appreciate her calm demeanor each time she helps me through a decision or problem. She also always has excellent recommendations of solutions and vendors, all of which I have chosen to work, and all of which are wonderful as well. I believe this speaks to Whitney’s positive and kind attitude and expertise in her profession. I HIGHLY recommend her to any couple looking for a wedding coordinator and designer!

I could never imagine trying to coordinate an event without a planner (stresses me out just thinking about it) and Whitney is simply amazing at what she does. She has great innovative ideas for design and thinks outside the box. She is also an incredible joy to work with. She has a way of bringing all the pieces of an event together seamlessly. Whitney was a gift to us in helping us find a venue for our wedding. The care and work and interest she put into helping us with the first stages of our event was wonderful. She had lots of creative, innovative ideas which was just what we were looking for, as we wanted to do something that wasn’t just another cookie cutter event. She was very responsive to what we were looking for, and constantly altered her suggestions and actively researched and sought out new ideas, even as we changed our minds frequently! And she never lost her patience, but instead was always friendly and supportive and helpful. She really gave us great value for her price. She was fun and easy to be with too, which was important since we spent a lot of time together!

Whitney is absolutely the best. We had a very difficult venue where we had to bring in every single part (from tables to bathrooms!) and Whitney was completely on top of it. She is very organized and responsive, which helped me since I was a bit of a control freak bride! I was considering doing it all myself, but since we got married across the state, we hired Whitney and couldn’t be happier. She made me calm and let me focus on the day instead of all of the details of the day. I would recommend her to anyone!

Is it really worth it to have a planner? I can tell you from experience, IT IS!
When planning any great event there are so many elements to consider. When planning your wedding there are emotion and personality attached to each one of those elements. Whether you are planning a fun party or the most important day of your life having someone to guide you, support you and keep you smiling is worth SO MUCH!
Whitney has a style that exudes kindness, confidence & experience. She has a way of making the process fun and keeps thing moving. She understands the industry and knows how to work with other vendors; maximizing the results.
With Whitney at the helm, you will not only have an outstanding event, but you will be able to truly enjoy your event; laughing, smiling and posing for pictures! You can’t put a price tag on that!
