Worn Path

I’m only giving one star because of the items they carry though not a large amount of anything for that matter. Store could be much more well-​stocked however my pet peeve with this store is the fact that they don’t answer their phone and when you leave a voicemail with a question about something you purchased from them they never call you back and try as you might they refuse to answer the phone!
I think from this point I am so irritated I will never return again and I was a good customer.

Niles is awesome, as is his crew of buds who take the helm at times. It seems like a perceived disinterest on the store «clerks» part from previous reviews might be instead be a careful attempt to not bombard customers with sales pitches and whatnot. I don’t know about y’all, but I’d much prefer to be quietly greeted than thrown a bunch of fake, cliché «how’s your day going? What can I take your money in exchange for?» nonsense. I suppose there are people who need to be coddled wherever they go, but I’m not one of them.
I always make a point of stopping in while in the hood, and that ain’t changing.

He’s weird and maybe too cool to be your friend but his stores super cool And he is sharing his taste with the world! It’s one of those stores that seems too cool for paint, too cool for chemicals, gluten free and somehow makes you feel cool just walking in!
Is it small Ax records, Zigzag Wanderer, Candy Babel sweet shop and then Worn Path & you’ve gotten A truly hip Portland Experience! Via small shops with big personalities!

Nice simplistic curation of crafted products with well-​thought out displays. Bummer customer service. Don’t expect whoever is working to acknowledge you ever entered or left the store or even look up from their iPad. Questions will be answered with agitation. I might have bought something if I didn’t feel so uncomfortable.

I always stop by this place whenever I’m on Mississippi. Great apparel, books, & the owner was very helpful when buying a raincoat for my girlfriend. Thanks again.

Cute store with tons of Penfield merch. Very low-​key, don’t expect to be greeted unless you initiate it. They’re happy to let you browse without pestering you about trying things on or finding anything. The restroom has a bathroom mirror, plan to use that as a fitting room. Prices are moderate to pricey, just depends on what you’re looking for.

One thing that distinguishes Work Path right off the bat, is the funky yet historical looking building of which it resides. I mention this as the Historical Mississippi District seems to be in the middle of a development cycle of which new buildings are popping up and the stores put there are perhaps a little too well scrubbed for my taste.
Actually, the interior of Worn Path is well appointed in the best Portland sense and is a joy to wander around. I love the outdoorsy look, with lots of interesting bags/​camp stuff and clothing/​books offered, with cool surf/​driftwood accents. They also offer a interesting line of necklaces and other jewelry, which I also found at Animal Traffic just down the street.

I have been in here to buy gifts for my outdoorsy husband. Neither time was I welcomed when I walked into the store despite it being totally empty and the (owner) clerk wandering around curating.
The vibe is pretentious and elitist — not in the NYC 5^th Ave way, but in the dirty patagucci trustafarian crowd.
The store is well curated for sure, and as such customers want to explore it — to pick up objects, to look and feel. This is what my 3-​year-​old wanted to do but she is well mannered and before we entered I told her to look and not touch.
So when I approached the owner to ask a question, I was able to see my daughter in the periphery — she gently touched a surfboard leaning against the wall. In the middle of my question to the owner he interrupted «CAN YOU PLEASE GET HER AWAY FROM THAT???» with a tone that a class in ‘humanity-​101′ or at least ‘Retail ABCs’ should have taught him was totally rude.
The most amazing thing about this exchange was that he clearly realized his mistake and tried to pull back by way of explanation. He went on to say ‘how expensive the surf board was and if it fell it would be ruined (clearly not attached to the wall from this comment), its the one expensive thing in the shop and kids are always drawn to it.’
So my confusion is this — you run a store, not a museum. You know kids are everywhere in PDX and on Mississippi Ave. You know they love the brightly colored surfboard, you don’t have signs like KIDS NOT WELCOME or PLEASE DONT TOUCH, but you feel justified in getting an attitude with a mom when her kid is curious?
If you don’t want your surfboard touched, at least put a sign up to that effect.
Don’t yell at me and don’t put your precious items up in a store that is in PDX where dogs, kids, and hipsters are likely to want to touch your shiny objects.
What I wish for you in the future is a well mannered, curious daughter who wants to touch all your precious 20-​something toys. I give this business 1 more year max.

I really enjoy coming into this store even if I’m not buying anything because the vibe along with the hand selected product is comforting and relaxing.
This store caters to the outdoor/​urban/​campvibes person who also probably skates/​surfs/​shreds but is into all things original whether it’s for your house or the road. They carry a variety of brands to cover their end with clothing, books, boards, jewelry, bags, & more (even camping essentials!)
I will keep stopping by and one day, will buy something!

PDX peeps… you’re stoked to have this store in your city. Tons of cool brands (Woolrich) and handmade houseware, jewelry and one of kind items… Worn Path is a lifestyle store focusing on outdoor, west coast vibes. love the old skate decks and Murdey surfboards. Apparel selection was primarily for mens. didn’t see much womens apparel.
