AMAZING super delicious, great price, amazing service. It’s my favorite sushi in Portland. It’s also right at the waterfront

The one star is for service never even got past that to be able to rate the food. We entered to look at menu and ask to be seated. No one so much as even spoke to us or tried to even make eye contact. After at least 10 minutes of being totally ignored we opted to leave. No plans of ever bothering to try again. Too many other options available.

The food was pretty okay, for the most part. The prices are definitely high for what you’re getting. My roll was tasty, and now of course I can’t remember the name of it. It had salmon, mango, avocado, and tuna. I got it with soy paper and it was really pretty. My husband got the yakisoba and it was really really heavy on the ginger. The flavor overwhelmed everything else. The black sesame was a nice touch, though once again overwhelmed by ginger. We also got gyoza and those were really good. We will give this place another chance at some point when we are craving sushi. It might earn another star next time, we’ll see. It has a lovely river view.

Gross sushi roll. Rude owner who swears at customers. Avoid at all costs. Brought the team in for a good lunch. All the food was fine. Good enough for the price but not good enough for a date. Played 1980’s sappy R&B music the entire lunch(Patti LaBelle, Freddie Jackson, Lionel Richie, Luthar etc.). Ugh! A colleague ordered a Tsunami roll that was 100% inedible. Three of us tried it and all agreed it was disgusting. OK. This happens sometimes. Bad impression on one food item… so what! While paying the bill I shared with one of the proprietors that we all tried the roll and it was not good. I tried to share this quietly. The chef(guy with a knife) said it was very popular and that someone else just had it and enjoyed it. I wasn’t arguing the popularity just that in this instance it was disgusting and we couldn’t eat it. Paid. Walked out the door. Chef then calls me ‘F****in idiot!” in front of his lunch crowd as I’m walking out. Cordial up until this time I shared what I thought of his food and manners and let him know I’d be sharing this experience with anyone who cared to know. There you have it. Foul mouthed, arrogant owner who doesn’t care about you and your experience. This isn’t a soup Nazi. Just an old jerk with crappy cd’s and even worse ingredients..

Great new sushi place on the Esplanade. Great location, can sit inside or outside, and look over the marina. We had the sashimi platter and seared tuna appetizer, then had the salmon skin rolls which are out of this world. The entire meal was wonderful. Nice wine choices. The staff are very sweet and friendly, and very knowledgeable. Will definitely be going back.

Great service, great food, very nice outdoor seating. Sashimi and rolls — very tasty and good variety. Has their own take on «standard» rolls that I really liked. Server very friendly, helped us with our youngster. Somewhat limited sake selection, but nothing to really complain about. Will absolutely come back.

Standard formula: great view equates to below average fare, so-so service with long wait. «Vegetables» on the menu means cheap iceberg lettuce. The fish didn’t taste fresh. Can’t stand places like this who rest their laurels on their location. Yaaaaawn.

Came with a a group of 10 unannounced and they were VERY accommodating for us! They had one waitress and one chef and still pulled it off awesomely! I had the spider roll and gyoza, both were amazing!

Amazing sushi, great atmosphere, beautiful view, fantastic service. Yo behind the sushi bar is a master with raw fish and Diane is a spectacular server. Highly recommend. We came in with a very large party. Diane took great care of us, kept our drinks full and got our huge order correct. The sushi chef Yo knocked out roll after delicious roll. 5 stars!

The service is fine… There is like three workers in this small business restaraunt, what did you expect? Excellent food, lots of variety in rolls and uses good quality fish. They don’t just dress up California rolls and give them different names like most generic sushi joints nowadays. One star off because you leave the place smelling like oil if you sit inside, however, you can and should sit outside since its nice by the harbor.

Worst customer service ever! The server disappeared for 30 minutes and didn’t engage at all. It almost felt like they didn’t want you to be there. The cooks and servers appear to be angry and didn’t smile at all. The udon was so bad my wife and I left after couple bite. Don’t bother.

My guy and I rode our bicycles up to the waterfront from Sellwood and were using Unilocal to find a place to eat and drink, with a view of the river. As a general rule we don’t ever try places with less than 4 stars on Unilocal and to our surprise every eatery on the river was only 3stars. So we decided to change that rule for the day and try Yomi. I’m so glad we did too. The service was fantastic. The sushi rolls were delicious. They have a very nice selection of sake. And you simply cannot beat that view from the tables outside. It seems the negative reviewers either were unlucky with their experiences or they’re just nitpicky snobs.

The service was REALLY bad and slow. The restaurant had barely anyone in it and we just felt like we were imposing… The actual food tasted good, but our meals we’re brought out at different times and we were never asked if we wanted more beverages. They also added a 20% gratuity without prior notification neither verbal or in writing. A really unfortunate experience on our first night in Portland and in such a beautiful location. :(

I very rarely write a review, but had to for this experience. My family and I live in the waterfront river-place and we always try to support the local businesses. Came to support their grand opening weekend and it was AWFUL! We were regulars when they were Sushi and River right down the street. We came in with our two children and after being seated for an hour with no food we left. Never done it before! They cant handle more than 3 – 4 tables, anything over that and their service becomes a complete cluster. All the tables around us got their food after waiting a long time(at least they got their food). When I asked our server if they started our food to just pack it to go, first she said yes, then came back 5 mins later and said it still hadn’t been started. Such a nice couple who own it but they lack any clue how to run a restaurant. So much nicer in their old spot when there would only be 2 – 3 tables at a time.

The chicken teriyaki is amazing for those of us who can’t handle our fish, however the sushi is delicious too! I highly recommend the hurricane roll as far as raw sushi goes, and the crunchy tuna roll was unreal! And that view! It was to die for! Rivaled only by portland city grill.

Came here to visit the grand opening and it was quite delightful! I love that they’re right along the Waterfront and when the weather gets warmer, you can enjoy great sushi and the sun! On this rainy Portland day, I met up with some former coworkers and friends to celebrate this opening and because it was a Friday. They have split hours during the week so you can indulge early on or later for dinner. We arrived at 6 pm and man was it packed! The space is actually quite small, but each table was well taken care of. Because it was their first day, I think the family running the restaurant was overwhelmed and maybe slightly surprised by the turnout?! All tables looked like they were being tended to, but with only two people running around(mama and daughter while the father and son were making the dishes), service was slightly slower. I think once they get into the flow and groove of things, they’ll thrive on service speed. The sushi was great! I ordered salmon nigiri, an Oregon roll, and a Philly roll. Yes to the salmon, please! All freshly made and well prepared. The price is also great for what you get! I expected it to cost a little more because of where they were located, but anything and everything on the menu was reasonable! Love the décor and they had March Madness on — props to that! Definitely can’t wait to go back again!
