Overall cheap price for good food! Not the best sushi and Yakisoba I have ever had but definitely not near the worst! Price makes it worth it!

We have eaten at Yuki and Song since 2002. It is the quintessential hole-in-the-wall restaurant with excellent food, authentic atmosphere and plating, and superior service. Family-owned. The owner is a Vietnam veteran. The sushi is fresh and prepared with expertise. Be sure to try the beef teriyaki with homemade teriyaki sauce or the bulgogi(Korean BBQ) also with homemade sauce. They only use the best quality meats and vegetables, like Kobe beef.

I have to admit I have been a bit leary of trying Yuki & Songs, but after eating here, I can’t seem to remember what my reservations ever were!!! It seems to be run by an amazingly lovely couple. The dinner was coursed out starting with salad and really yummy miso soup, then veggie tempura, then sushi, and finally the main course! Everything was delicious!(I will say the salad is just iceberg lettuce, carrot, and tomato… Just fine, but not special.) I will absolutely be back!

Legit Japanese restaurant. Not fancy but great food. Fresh sushi, best food option in the area. They also accept takeout orders.

It would be nice if there was another description for sushi that isn’t made with sushi rice. Sushi rice is rice cooled quickly by spreading it out in a sushi tub and fan’ing it and made sweet by adding sweet rice wine. It seems only the authentic Japanese Sushi places do this anymore. This place ISN’T like that. I got back to this place recently and found it to not be up to my expectations. The Hamachi is still very good but not excellant. The rolls are loose not tightly made. The Unagi is excellant but other things are so so . Maybe the fact that there is Bulgogi and Kimchee on the menu is a clue. But if your in the neighborhood this maybe the only place to get a Sushi fix.

Decent sushi but the service leaves a lot to be desired. Never a smile… Never a thank you from the waitress… But again, sushi ain’t bad.

Yuki and Song’s takes teriyaki chicken to the next level. The sauce has a rich flavor like no other restaurant I’ve ever tasted. The meal comes in a nice bento box with vegetable tempura, a gyoza, steamed rice, and a salad. You get a reasonable portion for a good price. It’s a nice family owned place and the owners are very kind. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Worst service ever. My friend and I brought in our 5 year olds for dinner. 20 minutes into it the waitress finally took our order and another 20 till our food finally arrived. After we were done with sushi they brought our appetizer which was supposed to be seafood and fried vegetable salad. There was no fried vegetables and the seafood was not as described. We got yelled at for saying so and brought the menu with finger pointing yelling for me to point at where it said«fried». Once I did, she still yelled that its a mistake on the menu and I should know better because«it’s called a salad». I thought she was going to hit me. The waitress proceeded to yell in the kitchen. Our kids were scared and couldn’t wait to leave. I have never felt so harassed. After we paid we were chased after with change because«we don’t need your change»! This review can’t grasp the horror of the situation.

It was some of the best sushi I have ever had. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is in the area.

If you don’t like this place, chances are you’ve never been to an authentic Japanese restaurant or know any Japanese people at all. They’re friendly, helpful, and have much better food than any repulsive, rotting, rotating sushi train in PDX. Not that anything here tastes bad in the slightest, but the Empire Roll is a must try, along with the yakisoba.

The food is very good and I come here on a regular basis. Despite being a regular the owners never are friendly even though I come often enough to be memorable. It might have something to do with showing up when they are settling in for dinner and there are no other patrons to be found. Sorry! Having said that let me tell you about the Judy roll. It is divine. I love this combination of avocado, shrimp tempura and cream cheese nestled in seaweed and sushi rice. What’s not to love?

Worst service I’ve ever had. We walked into the empty restaurant and were told to sit anywhere. After a few minutes the owner asked us to switch tables for some reason… so we did. I ordered Chicken Katsu for lunch which comes with salad, tempura, and rice. The salad had no dressing(even though he asked me for my choice of dressing when I ordered) and I did not get Katsu sauce either. The waiter seemed confused when I requested the missing items. The tempura was terribly greasy and had pot stickers in it(???). The Katsu was overcooked and the breading was falling off. The kicker was when the couple running the restaurant decided to sit down in the dining room and eat the massive spread of food that they were obviously concentrating on preparing while they should have been cooking the guests meals. They had a stereo blasting terrible music at their own table and it was competing with the standard music played on the overhead stereo system. They kicked out other customers coming in while they ate because they were preparing to close in 20 mins. We had to pull them away from their meal just to pay.

My husband and I decided to pop in for some quick dinner and we were delightfully surprised! It’s a cute, small ma and pa shop in a strip mall. We ordered some sushi, gyoza, yakisoba and Katsu. All was amazing and very fresh with generous portions enough for a lunch for the next day! All the vegetables were plentiful and you could taste the freshness! The couple was sweet and very friendly! Definitely happy that we live close by because this will be regular stop from now on!

Small clean place but the tile floor is slick as snot. Was able to order right away but in the middle of taking my order the lady gabbed a couple menus and seated to guys who came in after me. Guess she was thinking they would give her a tip for eating in. Well surprise I usually do leave a tip even with take out but not this time. Of course she could just be sexist. Whatever. Hope the food is good.

MEH. I guess this place hits the sushi craving spot once every 6 mos. I only come here because its close to work. But today it was not good and the service was just awful. There is definitely room for improvement. All i’m going to say is the server came to take my plate away as I was putting the last piece of sushi into my mouth. «Are you all done?!», I wasn’t even able answer her because my mouth was full of rice and cucumber. In a rush lady? I would suggest driving a little further and going somewhere else next time.

I tried Yuki & Song on a whim one day when I wanted sushi, but didn’t want to drive very far to get it, and I was really surprised that it was so delicious! Since then, I’ve been ordering sushi from them fairly regularly — about 3 – 4 times a month. I typically order the exact same thing because it’s what I like, but I haven’t been disappointed. The owners are friendly and VERY, VERY nice. I love that the restaurant is run by a family and they are always there. I love going to Yuki & Song because I feel valued as a customer, proud that I can support a local small business, and happy that I can have delicious sushi without driving very far from my home. In fact, I’m waiting patiently(maybe not so) for them to open right now so that I can eat dinner. :-)

The absolute worst sushi I have ever had. Hands down. The cucumber salad was just thick pieces of cucumber with sweet vinegar sauce. It should be sliced very thin. The nigiri maguro and hamachi were wet, a sure sign of thawed frozen fish. There was no flavor to the fish at all. The roll it had was also horrible and falling apart. The waitress never came by to refill my ice tea, and there were only four other customers inside. To top it off there were signs all over the bathroom walls stating that it was for customer use only. It stated that if you were not a customer you could pay towards ther water an toilet paper bill! Even the paper towel dispenser had a sign on it begging you to use paper towels sparingly. What kind of a cheap SOB business owner puts up signs like that?! The owners are extremely cheap and the food quality is horrific. You could tell that they used the cheapest ingredients they could find. I almost feel like purging and getting a slice of pizza just to he something with flavor. This restaurant is a disgrace to all Japanese restaurants. I’ve had much better sushi at supermarkets. Avoid at all costs.

The owners are very, very nice. I was working late & got stuck in this area while growing more and more hungry. The sushi was cheap, except for their newer deluxe rolls. Those were probably decent. One of the rolls was really good, the others were not. The hot sauce isn’t good, and it seems watery. Their miso soup was good, but the tuna was discolored and a piece of the salmon was chewy. However, all of their hot food looked good. They were bringing a bunch of plates out & I wished I had ordered that instead of sushi.

This is a decent place and it is family run. I didn’t have sushi because I know I’m a snob about it so we went for cooked food. At first it was a little funny because we were recommended chicken terriyaki and tempura and told we’d probably wouldn’t like more traditional foods. which was mostly funny to me. I don’t know if it’s a northwest white people thing but I love to eat the legit stuff, we’re not the chicken terriyaki, shrimp head avoidin’ kinda white folk. I basically conveyed that and he relaxed quite a bit, we ordered the tonkatsu because he said he liked it and he still highly recommended tempura because his mom made it really well. Both dishes had their own twist, both being a bit crunchier than usual which we chocked up to a Korean twist on the recipe, but we liked the change especially in the tempura.

Wanted to like it, but couldnt, wasn’t good. They tried hard, but the food just wasn’t there. I think it’s a mom & pop operation, which it gets extra points for. Not in a great location, located next to 7⁄11. While delivering the sushi to a table, saw chef scratch his nuts quickly. Grossed me out. It was very quick, & he probably didn’t know he even did it, but it was definitely an over the clothes nut scratch. Anyhow nothing to rave about, not the worst, but far from the best.
