Specialties
Diana Zapata is a full service Interior Designer with a CAPS (Certified Aging in Place Specialist) designation from the National Association of Homebuilders. She works mostly on residential projects, with aging in place as a new focus. Diana works on other interior design projects as well, but she understands how smart it is
to re-imagine your space as your needs change over time. She works directly with homeowners, occupational therapists and caregivers. A well-designed home modification is a fraction of the cost of moving into an assisted care facility. Be pro-active about creating your own mold, instead of fitting into one!
History
Established in 1992.
After ten years of design work in the Los angeles area, I opened my business in Portland in 1992. With an extensive background in remodeling and graphic design, I was able to move those skills here in Portland. I have worked on design solutions for everything from branding, to adding an ADU (accessory dwelling unit) to support aging parents. The last year I have dedicated my work to helping people reach their goals of aging in place. With 10,000 Americans turning 65 every day, it is time to start thinking about the future. It is my hope that as many people as possible can stay in their homes for life. I have also joined the Villages NW Board of Directors to further my connection to this movement. Take control of your future, and think about how you want to live in the years to come. Zapata Design would like to help map out solutions, so your home will fit your short term — long term goals.
Meet the Business Owner
Diana Z.
Business Owner
Diana earned her BA in Design and Visual Communications from California State University, Chico. The first ten years of her career began in Southern California. She worked with clients from Walt Disney Imagineering, to the LA Olympic Organizing Committee. New adventures were ahead as her family moved north to Portland, for a more balanced lifestyle. Diana’s Design business continued to
flourish. Over the next 15 years, she also found time to put many volunteer hours into Portland Public Schools. I think a supportive community truly connects us to each other, especially as we age. Currently, Diana is honored to serve as a Board Member for Villages NW, villagesnw.org. Their work is changing the way we think about aging in place.
«I started this business because I have experienced first hand the way my parents have struggled to react to life’s challenges as they deal with lack of planning as they age. That eventually resulted in loss of housing, and other emergencies, which could have
