Good selection. I have been coming here for years, and while I understand what the other reviewers are saying about the front desk, I have learned to ignore that, and just keep buying the high quality feed that they stock.

Location is convenient and their supplies are good. My only concern is the unfriendliness of the“cashier”. She doesn’t have much information on the products nor does she care. When I asked her about the ingredients of a particular feed, I was told I should read the label.

Suzanne, who makes it very clear she’s only at the front desk and has no idea what the quality of the current supply of hay is (and wasn’t about to find out) must be the same person Michelle F dealt with. Come on, this is a feed store, smile, be happy, you could be a bank teller or something truly awful like a Wal Mart greeter.

I agree — this is a GREAT feed store. The staff is so very friendly and so helpful — and they have actually left supplies for me on the front porch (when I was running late.)
They also have EVERYTHING you need for your horse, including LMF and Farrier’s Formula.
I love that place — it’s right across from Spring Down.

PVF is a great little feed/​supply store nestled in the heart of beautiful Portola Valley. Joanne and her husband and staff are super friendly and ready to help each and every customer. If they don’t stock what you need, they will do their best to order it from hay to horse cookies.
The only reason I didn’t give this store five stars is because I wish they stayed open later than 5:00 PM and they can’t get their hands on everything I need for my horse’s care. (For instance, I have to order Farhnam Hoofsaver from another retailer.)
The store also doubles as a boarding facility for pet birds, so you are guaranteed to be entertained by a multitude of talking birds saying everything from «hello» to «go niners». PVF also carries supplies for dogs, cats and birds.
The nice thing about their location is there is a tack store in the same center, so it’s easy to do one stop shopping. Sorry, Western riders are out of luck as the other store only caters to English riders!
