Love everything about this place. Love the horse riding lessons. Recently we visited their pumpkin patch and I must say we loved the pony rides for the kids, the bounce houses and the quirky train ride.

I have been leasing at Webb for almost three years. They have a good lease program. I lease a school horse, who is wonderful, and I can ride him whenever he’s not being used in a lesson. He’s not used very often, and I have plenty of opportunity to ride. I also take lessons with Shannon, who is fantastic. Highly recommend Webb. I always feel good when I come out here.

Love Webb Ranch! I feel so lucky to be able to board my horse in this heavenly place. My horse is so happy here. The instructors are fabulous kind, wise and really care about the horses. To those who complain about the speed limit of 5 –10 miles through the ranch please know going any faster can cause a horse to SPOOK and injure the horse and the rider. So enjoy the beautiful scenery and slow down.

Fun, not to expensive place to ride. They have great trainers there and a very relaxed, kid friendly atmosphere.

We too moved from Springdown, the instructors here are awesome. They are all fun, friendly and enthusiastic. The ponies are well mannered and easy going, it’s the nature of the place just a really good vibe. Nothing is too much trouble, they are accommodating and easy going and we love it here!

This review is for Group Trail Rides only:
We were a group of 15 riders — 12 young girls and 3 adults having the group trail ride last Sat. We were very disappointed in the management. It was a 2 hours event — end up we spent 15 mins in instructions, more than 1 hour in waiting for all of us to get on the horses; maybe 30 – 40 mins in riding. There was only 1 teacher working to get the horses ready and helping us to get on the horses. There were a lot of young helpers but they didn’t know what to do. The waiting was very long and unacceptable. If they could arrange 2 – 3 teachers to streamline the process of getting on the horses and getting the horses ready, the experience would be different and much better. The girls who got on the horses early had nothing to do in the stable, just sat on the horses and waited for everybody. Some girls were scared when the horses wandered around because they were bored too. For the girls who waited patiently on the ground, they were thinking — when would be my turn???
I would say Webb Ranch should refund some of our money back. We will go to other equestrian centers next year.

I LOVE Webb Ranch. I love the beautiful valley where it is situated. You drive down a bumpy road for over a mile and it feels like you step back in time. Your journey, if you were to continue to the end would be a sight for sore eyes: it is the old Polo Field!
For such a huge facility — and it does feel a little bit like a horse city, it is still a laid back place whose excellent management team (Summer & Nathan) make it run like a well-​oiled machine.
This is not one of the stuffy barns where grooms tack up horses and riders «take the horse for a spin»; this is where you actually take care of your own horse. Or kids learn how to take care of horses. To me, that is a much better experience for people and especially horses.
That being said, There is something for everyone — all disciplines ride here, the school horses have a great life at Webb. And the boarders have options.
I boarded my horse there for almost 10 yrs and although she is somewhere else now, I still would highly recommend it. If boarding, just know that most folks buy additional high grade hay (grass) to supplement the Alfalfa & pelleted feed that is standard feed. Also the hay gets poor in the winter months. So once you know what to expect and are ok with making adjustments, this is a good home for your horse! (that is why I only gave 4 instead of 5 stars).
People are really nice there too.

This place has been a god send! I cannot afford any of those «fancy» barns but I am still riding at a high level and need a ranch with good arenas, hay, and instructors. This was my place! Summer is honestly the most talented instructor I have ever worked with! They groom their arenas daily, fix anything you need, bring in good quality hay, and keep their school horses in the best health I have ever seen! All the horses are fat, clean, and healthy. This is rare! The price is obviously a tad higher than stables farther south but for the area and the quality of the facility you can’t beat it. It is not the most esthetically pleasing place but its functionality is unbeatable. If you are searching for a place to board your horse I would recommend checking up on this place!

We have so much fun in Webb Ranch trial ride, I have Casey, he is such a nice horse. Our guide is Robin, she is so friendly. We have a lesson before the trial ride, which give us idea how to control the horse.

Love Webb Ranch! I’ve been boarding my horse here since October and I love the laid back, non snotty vibe here. I used to board my last horse elsewhere in Portola Valley and I just couldn’t handle the snobby attitude of people in the barn. Webb reminds of the ranch I grew up riding at in Hawaii. Think its the best place to board your horse in this area (esp if you’re a Western rider)
Also, Joan Mclaren is great-​both for lessons and training your horse! Highly recommend!

My 8 year old son has been taking private riding lessons for almost a year now. He started with summer camps and after getting bit hard by the riding bug, continues to ride once a week.
When I was originally looking for a reasonably priced stables for him to start lessons I had heard from a number of other moms I trust, that Webb was the place to go, especially for a boy. I know some people don’t like the rustic environment, but it’s perfect for my little cowboy. I really don’t like some of the snobby attitudes I have encountered at other local stables. And if you are going to complain about getting a little dirt on your shoes or flies, Webb is probably not the best match for you.
One of my favorite things about Webb lessons and camps is how much work the kids get to do around the horses, grooming, cleaning, carrying supplies, feeding, hoof picking, I don’t know why my son can’t seem to fill up his dog’s water bowl or feed his fish but he’d happily work on those horses for hours! I feel like he is really developing a work ethic doing all of this horse care.
I have been incredibly impressed by the women and girls that run the riding program at Webb. It’s a total girl power experience! I’ve never even seen a man at the riding ranch and it really is awe inspiring to watch these young women handle all of the horses and riders needs. I am especially grateful for how much they obviously love their horses and tend to them with great care and concern. I also appreciate that they make an effort to teach my son about horses as they go about their chores.
Every week when I drive through those gates and enter the ranch with it’s beautiful rolling hills, majestic oaks, expansive fields and slow flowing creek, I think about how this area has changed and been built up over time, and I feel so grateful this land has been preserved, intact for hundreds of years. A true gem of the peninsula. No matter how stressed I feel driving onto the dirt road, my son and I are always in fantastic moods driving out the gates watching the horses graze, seeing the same doe scamper across the road. such a special place. Quite possibly my favorite spot in the Bay Area.

We recently started group lessons for my son here and are very pleased. He is learning much more than he did at the previous place, and has made excellent progress. The group size is small and my son feels he gets the personalized instruction and attention he needs. I’m really glad we switched.

Very low quality hay and water. Pellets that are fed have almonds hulls as a primary ingredient. Loose horses are an everyday occurrence. Lots of mud in the winter, tons of dust and flies in summer. Board your horse elsewhere if you can.

OMG I love Porter, a 20 year-​old black thoroughbred in webb ranch. They have a both lesson and leasing programs in the barn.
Despite the rustic appearance, the staff and horse quality, the management and the location are great. Everyone is talking about the long 1-​mile driveway to the barn with 5 mph drive, I found it quite enjoyable since you drive thorough some beautiful organic fields.
Webb ranch also offers the trail ride lessons which I’m very interested. Glad to find this place.

My daughter has been taking weekly private lessons here for about 4 months now and we love Webb Ranch. She’s young so our only option right now is to do private lessons, but it’s totally worth the cost. She loves horses and ponies and the individual attention she is getting is wonderful.
She did a pony camp last summer elsewhere and Webb Ranch is so much better! I’m glad we switched. Webb Ranch is really organized. Someone will answer your emails and your calls. When I’m there, they seem to have a few people that are always prepping and grooming the horses. I love that her lesson always starts on time. Each week is different, she learns different skills, goes on a trail ride, in different rings, tries out new things. It’s never boring and her instructor (Shannon) is attentive, reassuring, positive and knowledgeable. She’s not just riding, she’s learning but having a great time too.
The other instructors also seem great and well regarded. The other parents are nice and the other riders seem like good kids.
The only downside of this place is that it’s far for us and driving a mile in from Alpine Road to the lesson office at 5 – 10 mph takes about 10 minutes. But the view during this drive is awesome. My daughter loves watching all the horses roaming in the fields and we can’t wait for the crops to start growing in the spring. This place takes you to a whole different world.
I kept meaning to write a review but was reminded today when a neighbor told me her grandkids take lessons at Webb Ranch. She said they love it too and they switched from Springdown.

We take lessons here for the past few months, and so far it’s been a very good experience. Our instructor, Dannielle, is wonderful! She makes the lessons fun while still learning the techniques.
If I had to pick on something that I don’t like about this place, it would be the restrooms; they’re kind of yucky. Also, there’s no grassy area between the horse area and the car park to sort of wipe off some of the dirt from our boots.

Directions: Take 280 North to Alpine Road exit. Left on Alpine Road (back under 280) then take Next Driveway on right. It comes quick. If you come to the gas station you went to far. Follow the driveway ½ mile until you see lots of horses and follow signs.
