Eye Glass Shop

This very professional staff saved my vacation and quite possibly my marriage. I had dumped my husband’s only pair of contacts down the drain while visiting New Hampshire. We were in a pickle because I do not drive and he did not have his glasses. These wonderful people saw us very last minute and saved the day. I could not recommend their services enough.

I had a really pleasant experience at this eyeglasses shop, let me tell you about it.
I came down to Portsmouth NH from good reviews of this shop and looking for a little more selection than I could find in the Kennebunks. A bit of a drive, but that’s OK for me, I like to go to Kittery whenever I can and not for the retail but for the restaurant scene (go Black Birch!!).
But I found some kickin’ frames from some London designer, and I picked ‘em on the spot with some seriously high-​tech Zeiss lenses. When I picked them up a few weeks later, I thought everything looked fine in the store, but over the course of the next few weeks I realized that these glasses were pretty weird. I had to keep my whole body in perfect posture in order to get the distance in focus. While this was good for my spine, it was distracting and I ended up not even wearing these otherwise awesome spectacles. Jump forward a year later, and I finally brought the offending glasses to an optician in Portland, ME. They informed me that the lenses had been simply made wrong. And that they doubted the shop in Portsmouth would correct the error because it had been more than a year. So my bad.
I figured what the hell, I will give it a try. I brought the specs back to the store and they took them over. Long story short, they phoned me up and said «Our bad», the lenses had been made wrong, and they went on to replace them for free! I am a seriously stylin’ dude now, attracting way more attention for my new frames than I am ever used to getting.
So that is my testimony, and they get the full five stars for their friendly and generous customer service!

First… they are ok they have a severe lack of communicating with you. When i first made my appt… no name for the person, i gave all my details including phone number… i did not get a reminder call, i was curious, when i got there the first question was whats your phone number? we dont have it second they had my name wrong which i corrected them on, then when i went to pick up my new glasses they STILL had it wrong i told them AGAIN the reponse? So what close enough! NOT! when you arrive for your appt. someone comes out NO name given you are taken to a machine sit down shut up look in the machine… you are not told what its about or that you are being CHARGED for it… i did not see DR Sheila White anywhere around at any time i went but got another doctor. no name again… the exam was pretty quick wham bam. i had a question i wasnt asked if i had any before i could ask she was whizzing out the door.
the whole process was pretty fast paced. You dont get anyones name or welcome im so and so… they are freindly enough i suppose, but they need to get their act together on communicating. im not sure if they deserve the best of the best rating due to the above but they are ok. they need to realize they need to communicate a lot better and that they are there to servre you… NOT themselves and at least tell you their names! ps and get yours STRAIGHT!

My fiancé and I were in search of a new optometrist. Glad we came upon this place. Since we live in town we did have alternatives but chose to do business here. Great, friendly and professional staff. We both purchased glasses and new Maui Jims. Thanks for all the help!

Friendly staff, nice selection of glasses. My gripe was with their service… After buying several pairs of glasses here over the years, I came in for a simple adjustment and discovered that the lens had a cloudy area on them after the adjustment. They balked at first that the cloudy area was due to the procedure that they used in adjusting the frames, they said the area was scratched. They did, however replace the lens via their guarantee, which was wonderful. There was a strange turn of events after this nice experience though… A week or so later I received a letter telling me that I was no longer welcome as a customer because «they could no longer meet my needs»! Odd way to treat a long time patron. Such a shame for a small local business to be so short sighted. (excuse the pun)

Great quality and top notch opthamologist… Dr White is great. Nice and qualified/​knowledgable staff. Only strike is price. They are in a high rent district, but I have no problem recommending them.
