Disappointing… Several years ago my wife and I went here and liked it a lot. I don’t think I reviewed it, but I probably would have given it 3.5 or 4 stars. Today, not so much. This is a nice motel nestled in a woodsy area. It looks very pleasant and relaxing, which is why we went in the past, and why we went now. The room was very musty. That is all I can say about it. The bed was ok, the bathroom was clean, but a musty room just feels nasty. The pool was cloudy. There is no excuse for a cloudy indoor pool. It is just nasty. The hot tub was only warm. We went back late at night and it had some heat, but getting into a hot tub that is just warm is… well you get the picture. If this was priced like a Motel 6 I may not have reduced it to 1 star, but it was about 3 times the price. Based on our past experience this would have been ok, but… The worst part was the gold fish pond. It was in the 80s this pond was low on water. The fish were all huddled under a rock in the middle. One looked like it was dead(luckily it wasn’t). When the attendant saw us looking in disgust he ran over and plopped a hose in to add more water. The best part was my travelling companion. She was an amazing looker, and quite enjoyable to spend the day(and night) with. I suggest finding one like her and bringing her on your next trip. It just may make up for a place like this. In all honesty though, we did like this place a lot in the past. If I got word that they got their act together in a year or so I would probably give them another chance.

It’s 2:25AM and I am writing a review for this hotel as I lay on what feels to be a box spring. The hotel itself would rate three stars(at best) but this bed changes everything. Who could sleep on a box spring? The wonder of Wrens Nest is that it is a few minutes from The Beach Plum a terrific place for fried clams or better yet a yummy lobster roll. But, wait, this is another review. Back to Wrens Nest… registration was a bit touch and go. The woman at the desk took some work on my part to be pleasant. She put me near a smoking room in spite of my professing a dislike of cigarette smoke drifting into my room. «Well, I can’t control the drift of the smoke», says she. «Can you change my room?», I reply. «No.». Well, the hotel is empty except for the smoker overhead. No problem as of yet. So would I return? Probably not but it was the least expensive place around with semi-decent reviews. Meh. Definitely meh.

This hotel is located about 5 miles from the center of town(about a $ 20-$ 30 cab ride)…and when you arrive to register the exterior lot and registration office is very rundown. When I looked online, the pictures made the suites with jacuzzis seem so large and elegant — we just had to try this place. I called the hotel and asked the gentleman which room was the best, and immediately booked it(white mountain lodge). When we got into the room we were disappointed at how outdated the décor was(beat up carpeting, plaid wallpaper in the kitchen and floral wallpaper in the bedroom and bathroom). There is a tube TV and a VHS/DVD player that was in the living room along a cassette player/CD player. You can rent cassettes for music at the front desk for $ 3. We just kept thinking that this room was not worth the $ 300 for one night. The bed wasn’t anything to write home about and we will not be staying here again. There was also a sign in the kitchen that said housekeeping will not clean it, so if you leave anything for them to cleanup there is a $ 20 fee. We went and splurged on the«romance package» for $ 65 and we got 6 chocolates covered strawberries from Edible Arrangements(yummy!) and a $ 7 bottle of champagne(Totts Brut). To top that off, when it was brought to our room there was zero presentation — he just put the bucket with champagne and glasses down and handed me a box containing the fruit. This is not a luxury place to stay and I would recommend staying at a different resort.

Terrible. Paid over $ 200 for a room that could only be appealing if you wanted to sleep in a place reminiscent of your grandma’s bedroom(smell included) with paper thin walls, out dated Thomas Kincaid décor, a mini tv, and a shower without a shower curtain(a weak attempt at romantic maybe?). Mind you at least you get pink Christmas Story bathrobes. This place is listed as a bed and breakfast but the breakfast includes a fantastic display of cereal, fruit, and bread. I thought maybe that’s where the price would be found — in an exquisite breakfast — wrong. My wife and I stayed at a bed and breakfast in Maine, on the coast, in a secluded cottage, with a private beach, and gourmet breakfasts minutes from Acadia National Park for less than this hole in the wall dump of a place. Trust me, I don’t need much to be happy so this review is as truthful as it gets. Don’t even kid yourself with the other half decent reviews. Avoid this place like the plague. My wife and I are about to settle down in their lovely twin bed with rock solid pillows and settle into dreams to the pleasant smell of stale mothballs and mold. Cheers to a joke of an «inn.» I hope this helps everyone else avoid the mistake we made.

The pictures on the website are incredibly misleading. There was nothing rustic or charming about our room. The outside was everything you see on the website, but the room itself was a hot mess. And there was black mold on the ceiling of the bathroom. We could smell it when we walked in. Granted, it wasn’t the dirtiest room I’ve ever stayed in, but it could have been cleaner.(At least I can say the sheets were very clean and the carpet looked new.) The worst part, and the reason I gave it one star instead of two, is that the walls are paper thin. Two men started stomping around in the room above us at 3am, and they never once stopped and sat down. They were just pacing over our bed, and the whole ceiling was creaking loudly under their feet. At 4:15 we decided to give up and hit the road. We slept a total of two and a half hours. This is the worst motel experience I’ve ever had. Just the night before I stayed at a really nice inn and it was exactly what was advertised and we paid $ 50 less. I would recommend people avoid this place.

Me and my husband came here for our one year anniversary in 2010. It was in the middle of November so it was pretty empty but we really enjoyed our stay. We originally booked the English Cottage Suite(Or something along those lines) and when we got there, they actually gave us a free room upgrade to the Ralph Lauren Suite! It was a cozy fireplace suite with a jacuzzi tub in the room. There’s a nice pool and hot tub located on the property(it’s just a 30 second walk outside from the rooms). Overall, we had a great time. And they have a decent restaurant called Merrill’s Place on-site! I’d recommend it and would probably come back again sometime.

This is a fun spot with different themed rooms to choose from. My husbands and I have stayed here a few times and we love it. Clean, cozy, hot tub rooms are the best! I like the new restaurant, but there are so many choices for delivery also…
