History
Established in 1935.
Founded as the N.Y.S. Dept. of Public Work District 8 Employees Credit Union, the doors opened to serve state transportation and public works employees.
In 2004, the credit union was granted a community charter, which allowed any resident or employee in Dutchess, Ulster or Orange Counties, N.Y. to open an account. This enabled more people to join and the addition of new products and services.
In 2008, four years after the community charter, the credit union received approval from NCUA to change its name to Bridgeway Federal Credit Union. The new name better reflects the members the credit union serves and its unique heritage with the transportation industry. The name also directly connects to the three major bridges that connect the residents of the three counties we serve.
Bridgeway FCU is the oldest continuously operating credit union in the Hudson Valley, NY.
