Hudson Valley Community Dances is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to the preservation, study, teaching and enjoyment, and continuing evolution of traditional and historical dance, music and song.

We provide opportunity for people to socialize and dance and to play music. Everyone is welcome at our events, and no prior experience is necessary.

History

Established in 1988.

We originally provided contra dances and opportunity for contra musicians and callers. Over the years, we expanded to support Swing dancing, Cajun and Zydeco dancing, English Country Dancing, and most recently Ballroom dancing. We encourage new dancers, and provide workshops to help experienced dancers develop new skills.

Manager

Ed is one of the volunteers responsible for HVCD. It takes many volunteers to put on the dance events listed on the website: dance organizers, instructors, preparation of publicity, management of website and facebook, and so much more.
