Rudy’s Bagels

Bagels are okay but the service is always dreadful. Rudy’s is not the only bagel shop so I’m never going back.

So I was pressed for time and trying to cut gluten out of my diet and… I wander into a bagel shop??? Anyway… turns out they have gluten free bagels… so I gave one a try. Toasted with butter, it was actually good! I am impressed so I thought I would share… Not to mention the people were super nice! Thanks Rudy’s!

The bagels are great, but the service is spotty at best. On Tuesday, I waded through an inch of slush in the parking lot to get into the store. There were two people «working» — I use quotes, because one was working, and the other was chatting up customers at their table. I stood at the counter, waiting for the person talking to notice me, as the person behind the counter was waiting on another couple. I stood there a full five minutes, and was completely ignored by the woman talking (I know she works there, because she had an apron on and she has waited on me before). Just as the girl behind the counter was finishing up with the other customers, the phone began to ring. Still, the woman talking made no effort to help her. When the girl behind the counter chose to answer the phone rather than wait on me, who had been standing there already for 5 minutes, I walked out. I wrote to them on their Facebook page and waited 4 days for some kind of response — nothing. If their service matched the quality of their bagels (their other baked goods are nothing to write home about, but the bagels are very good) I’d go back in a hot second, but there are other places to get a decent bagel without being ignored.

Today I visited Rudy’s bagels and as I walked in I seen that they had a turkey BLT special for 6.25 $ so I went in and ordered it. The woman behind the counter took my order then asked if I would like lettuce and tomato on it… I replied, is that not what comes on a BLT? Any way it was prepared and during check out. I noticed she rang up my drink then 6.95 $ charge then a .75 charge as well. I asked for my reciept cause I only purchased 2 items but was charged for 3. On my receipt it said drink 1.50 sandwhich 6.95 misc .75. I asked what the charge was and she replied for the bacon. I told her it is advertised a turkey BLT 6.25. Not 6.95 and doesn’t that include bacon? She then gave me an even worse attitude then I received as I walk in the door. I was reimbursed some money but not the exact amount. I have been being ripped off at this place for who knows how long. Always get a receipt. The food is good but not worth the rudeness of the older women who run it. Money creates enemies.

New ownership and bagels and cream cheese are great! Sandwiches are also delicious. Definitely worth the trip!

Love the bagels. Never had the lunch but the bacon egg and cheeses are delicious. Service is not good. The two older women are rude and service is slow.

We love hopewell bagels but do not care for its replacement «Rudy’s Bagels». Their bagels are nearly the same but service is not as good as it was. It is now slower. We gave them a break when they first changed hands but now its been several months and still slow. Also when you ask for a toasted bagel it does not even come back to you toasted. Not even warm. It should get crispy and the skin of the bagel should bubble a little. So… I think I go back.
