This is such a nice eatery. I had the Grilled Portobello Wrap and it came when crispy fries(which were awesome) and a pickle. The portions were a nice size so I took the rest home. It’s nice and quiet and the waitresses were very welcoming and pleasant. Definitely a place to visit in Poughkeepsie.

One of my favorite places in Pk, and so convenient, right on rt 9. Open for breakfast or lunch, their sandwiches are amazing. Start your day off with a ham, bacon, egg, and cheese on a toasted roll. So good. If you’re in for lunch then you’ll never go wrong with the pulled pork panini, it is incredible. Delicious and wonderful pulled pork in a tangy sauce with cheddar cheese on a crisp rolled perfectly pressed. It comes out perfect every time, and I’ve had it on 30 + occasions. The fries that accompany it are crisp and perfectly seasoned. The staff is friendly and sweet. I’m always excited about going back.

Sugar and Spice is conveniently located in the Poughkeepsie Plaza on route 9, and is a popular lunch spot. Their sandwiches, salads, paninis and wraps are delicious and their fries are outstanding. You can eat in or take out, but make sure you have a few minutes to wait because everything is made to order. This isn’t the cheapest lunch option, you can expect to spend about $ 10 on your meal and a drink, but the quality makes it worth the price.

If you like waiting 30 minutes for a sandwich, this is the place for you. Happened to me more than once and happen to the dozen or more people waiting at tables and in line. And the food is so-so anyway. The staff are totally disorganized. Oh yeah, surprised to notice that the dishwashing sink is directly below the window where food is passed from the cooks.

I really, really, really like this place. One day my wife wanted to meet somewhere for lunch with our kids. It is usually difficult for us to get out for a decent bite to eat with our children. We recently moved to the area and it has been difficult to find a place that serves great food that we can actually attend with our kids. This place is fantastic. Over the last few weeks I have had many of the sandwiches they offer. My favorite is the S&S Roast Beef which is really fantastic. I also tried the Pulled Pork which is great. The french fries served on the side are fantastic. The food is never overly greasie. On one of our trips my daughter was being wild as she gets very excited looking at all of the cookies in the bakery case they have. The gentlemen behind the counter offered her one for free which I thought was super nice. The restaurant itself is staffed by extremely friendly people and everything is extraordinarily clean. I look forward to my next meal here!

Love this place! Best salad in the Hudson Valley!!! Staff is very friendly. I always get the Chicken Portofino Salad, which has grilled chicken, mandarin oranges, candied pecans, Gorgonzola cheese & dried cranberries over mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, carrots and balsamic vinaigrette dressing. All for only $ 8.50!!!

Stopped in here to grab a salad. It’s a cute place been there years ago. The girl at the counter was very sweet. It seemed like she was in training. I ordered a house salad with portabello Mushrooms and that came to 14 dollars! I couldn’t even believe it. Way over priced for what it was. I feel majorly ripped off! I could’ve gone to a fancy restaurant with those prices.

I really wish I could give 4.5 stars. I have always liked the food here — it’s fresh, unique, and very tasty. There is a lot to choose from too — the menu safely resides within«just right» goldilocks territory in the menu department. I had the taco Tuesday special on my most recent visit(yesterday) and my husband had the BBQ philly panini special. Both were very fresh — loved the addition of guacamole and tomatillo salsa — and the fries and sandwich were cooked perfectly. The sauce on his panini was spicier than we expected, but we love an extra zest on our food. This venue gets four out of five stars for some issues operationally. Firstly, during a semi-crowded lunch hour, many tables were crowded with the lunches of patrons past. It made it awkward to find a place to sit inside the establishment(and it also wasn’t clear if the tables right outside the windows were theirs because there was nothing to stick your number in to get your food). Also, the counter staff have been notoriously not too friendly and overly quick, which has been quite annoying when trying to order(I understand people needing to order fast, but giving people a few seconds should be tolerable). There was a gentleman who looked like a main chef who asked us how our meal. was and took our plates with a smile. I really appreciated that but that attitude should be practiced by all. Lastly, the waiting area for carry out orders is very awkward and spills over uncomfortably next to patrons who are dining in. .this should be reconsidered to improve experience of all customers. Even with these complaints, this place is worth a visit, and also worth a repeat visit. The food is that good.

The food here is always good. The baked goods(muffins, cookies, quiche) are as well. The french toast, the greek breakfast wrap and greek salad are my go to’s and are always the same. I really cannot say enough about the food. If there was one thing to complain about, it would be the service. The counter girls don’t seem to give a flying(you know what) about being there. The last time I was in I asked for a BIG glass of water, like a big plastic Coke cup full. Waited. Food came, asked again. Still didn’t come. Asked another girl after she brought someone else’s food. Got up to ask AGAIN and she was actually returning with water. In a small glass. OH. The coffee. It’s always perfect. Cream and sugar is my go to, and it’s just divine. Sugar & Spice might seem weird because it’s in a lame-o strip mall, but it is worth a stop.

This place has good options to choose from for whatever mood you are in. The service is speedy and the ladies behind the register are nice. You can always count on a great meal. Avg priced for the amount of food you get. Although I’m a burger man and alway give every place I try a fair shot. With that said I’m not a huge fan of a $ 10 burger you really can’t have cooked properly, even if it is delicious.

I stopped in during a break between my classes and the gentleman behind the counter was very helpful and attentive. The eggplant wrap was delicious and the fries were some of the best I’ve had in a long time. For the price the food was much better and fresher than a lot of places I’ve been. I was tempted by the baked goodies but resisted… so I have a reason to go back.

This place is a local wonder. It offers both breakfast and lunch with loads of fresh ingredients and locally sourced produce. The staff is quick and efficient, especially during lunch hour. They offer a large variety of sandwiches, wraps, paninis and salads. The fries are really delicious and not greasy and you can get sweet potato fries or onion rings, if that’s your taste. They also offer freshly made soups(which change daily). A simple, not fancy, atmosphere that’s okay for kids. There are plenty of tables, so you can eat there if you like, although I notice that most customers do take-out or request delivery. This is a good place for a fast, healthy meal. Ample free parking out front.

the service was absolute sh*t the counter girls seem clueless and had me waiting while they were gossiping. the wrap i ordered was just okay for the price of one wrap i was better of making it my self a bunch for the same price. also the prices are a bit steep here considering you don’t really get your moneys worth will not be coming here any time soon till they get some better staff and bug traps or when i feel like throwing money away

Food is great. The wraps and paninis are my favorite for lunch. The staff is a tad inattentive; for that reason I always call in my order and pick it up. The food is always done super fast and tastes great. They have the best fries around, in my opinion.

I go here every time I’m in the area, some times twice. Recently we tried a bunch of their cookies and brownies for a small gathering. My friends liked them more than pastry gardens!(Not saying I 100% agree, because I’m a big PG fan, but they were very delicious). Especially the cheesecake brownies! Yum! The staff is always super friendly. I agree that they do get very busy around lunch time, so call before you go, or be prepared to wait. They’re making food to order, what can you expect?!

Service can really be a problem here. You must first wait at the counter to place your lunch-time order– not a big deal, though. But this is: Now, if you’re lucky and they have a full staff AND the phone doesn’t ring, you may just get their attention and get to place your order in a resonable amount of time. If the phone rings, however, you’re doomed. Apparently, the phone ringing takes precedence over a living customer standing right in front of them. This has happened to me on a few occasions this year. I’m getting tired of it. I think I am now going to stop going there if I happen to be looking for a bite to eat while doing some shopping in the mall. The last time that I got lunch there on October 29, I ordered a hummus wrap and the time prior I got a turkey wrap. Their prices are not cheap. In fact, even by today’s prices, I think that Sugar and Spice’s prices are a bit steep. The food is good, but they are a bit stingy with the amount they give you. If I am going to pay upwards of $ 8.00 for a wrap. then I fully expect there to be a hefty amount of filling inside. However, both the veggie/hummus wrap and the turkey wrap were filled very meagerly and left me feeling disappointed. They’ve gotten my order wrong before, also. I know that running a food business can be costly, but if you’re not going to give the customers their money’s worth, then you should chose another business to be in.

The best thing I had from here was the Chicken BLT wrap, where inside was the crunchiest most delicious bacon that could ever be put in a wrap, i used to go here all the time when i worked near by & i miss that wrap.

This place isn’t amazing and not on the bad side either. It’s one of the places were you would always love to grab a quick bite. they have burgers and wraps which are pretty light and they have good breakfast combos. The place has a 70’s look to it and there are always a few elderly people sipping their black coffee and reading newspapers to just confirm my 70’s feeling :) When you are really hungry and wish to eat something less greasy and healthy then this is the spot :) they do have pastries too, which i haven’t tasted.ahmm.and i don’t think i will(not for any reason, it’s just a random feeling) –Smriti
