I do not like or trust Dr. Carty as a medical professional at all. My Mother had been going to him for a few years, and was happy enough. But recently, Mom had started showing signs of what I felt was not«normal» memory loss for someone her age. This of course, concerned me, and I accompanied Mom to one of her appointments with Dr. Carty. He was nice enough but seemed quite rushed(like he was late for his tee time at the golf course), and he wouldn’t slow down long enough to listen to me regarding my concerns. I feel that a closer examination should have been called for — if anything just to placate me. But I was briskly dismissed & told that she was fine. Well– it’s three years later, and Mom has Alzheimer’s. I feel that her condition might have been slowed down with a better, more complete diagnosis & subsequent prescription for medication such as Aricept. I refuse to take Mom back to see this man, even though she sees nothing wrong with him. She’s an old-fashioned, proper Bostonian woman & going to any doctor is embarrassing for her. And she was fairly«comfortable» with Dr. Carty, as she had been seeing him for awhile up until then. But she had been relatively healthy up until that point. And while Moms happiness & comfort is a primary concern for me, her health is also vitally important to me as well. I certainly don’t think that Dr. Carty is the best physician to provide health care services for my Mom. And I would definitely think twice before allowing him to diagnosis or treat me for even a common cold.

I went to Dr. Carty about 10 years ago and he totally misdiagnosed my condition. I had a systemic infection that he failed to notice. I finally become ill enough that I went to another physician at what’s now Arch Partners. I was given a choice of checking into the hospital or carrying around a pump 24 hours a day that kept heavy-duty antibiotics in my system. I chose the latter and that pump was with me for more than a week. Dr. Carty was a nice fellow, but I sure couldn’t recommend him on his clinical skills. That was 10 years ago, so maybe he’s improved. I just wouldn’t want to try him again.

Dr. Carty is with Arch Health Partners and located adjacent to the Pomerado Hospital. It’s a fairly new building, nicely decorated, and ample parking in the multi-level parking structure. Dr. Carty is located on the 4th floor. Urgent Care and LabCorp is located on the 3rd floor. Dr. Carty is very professional, courteous, and patient. He listens to the medical issues and takes his time to thoroughly explain his diagnosis and recommended course of treatment. He has a thorough knowledge in his medical specialty and he makes his patients feel very at ease with his caring demeanor. Many doctors patronize or talk down to their patients, but Dr. Carty provides a detailed explanation in laymen’s language. His medical assistant, Tammy, has a wonderful rapport with her patients and also makes them feel at ease. Like Dr. Carty, she is very professional, but also possesses a wonderful sense of humor. Definitely 5 Unilocal stars for the both of them!
