We treat each patient as if they were our own family and offer individual and specialized care. We offer our patients a wide range of services from Invisalign, Cerec crowns and bridges to Custom Implant restorations. Dr. David constantly furthers his training by attending dental continuing education courses as well as study clubs throughout each year. By staying on top of the latest technologies, we can help make your visits as efficient and comfortable as possible.

We are currently accepting new patients and would be happy to serve you and your entire family.

History

Established in 1989.

Dr. David Rauterkus received his BS degree in Biology at UCLA, and graduated from UOP School of Dentistry in San Francisco. He has been providing quality general dentistry in San Diego since 1988 and in Poway since 1992.

In December of 2013, Dr. Christine Altrock joined our practice as an associate. She received her BS degree in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics at UCLA, and graduated from NYU College of Dentistry. Dr. Altrock has experience treating diverse populations and underserved communities in NYC, Seattle, Maine, and Grenada.

With her help we have been able to expand our services and availability, allowing our team to be able to accommodate and provide even more exceptional care for our current and future patients.

Dr. David Rauterkus was born and raised in Southern California and resides in Poway. He has been Practicing dentistry for over 25 years. With newer procedures and more efficient dental services, he strives to stay on top of the cutting edge of technology by educating himself and others.

Dr. David Rauterkus stays very active in the Poway community, the local schools and service organizations. During his free time, He and his wife enjoy traveling and visiting their 3 college aged children. Dr. David can be found water skiing, snow skiing, jogging, playing racquetball with his buddies and most any activity that involves enjoying the southern California sunshine

I’ve had a super difficult time finding a PCP and also a Dentist since moving to San Diego… that was 9 years ago. I would literally plan dental appointments around my trips home, because the ones I met out here; were absolutely not personable and lacked the bedside manner. I had a little emergency with a tooth I had a root canal with 10 years ago and found Dr. Rauterkus’s office. They fit me in right away which was shocking. The office staff is… out of this world. They are SO NICE. Huge patient advocates and were extremely helpful when it came to insurance and the referral process. They got me in that day with an endo; and were super compassionate. I met Dr. Rauterkus on my F/​up and I wish I would have discovered this office sooner. He’s kind, and warm which makes dental work a bit of a breeze. He thoroughly explained the procedure and was gentle. The dental assistants are also perfect human beings. Exceptional Service, incredibly knowledgeable, AMAZING bedside manner. I don’t know if my insurance cover’s this office; and it may be out of network causing me to pay more out of pocket… however…I had such a great experience (s) that I really don’t care and will make Dr. R my new dentist.

Dr David is the very best!!! Besides a great chair side manner, no matter how busy he is, he always spends quality time with each patient. He is a great dentist who truly sees his patients as his extended family. A true professional who takes a lot of pride in his work and keeps up with the latest dental techniques and even makes excellent crowns in a single visit. He has hired and maintains a very high quality staff, everyone is so helpful and professional.

I saw Dr. David Rauterkus for several years growing up in Poway. He is professional and kind, as well as his staff. I eventually moved to Los Angeles after college and, unfortunately, had to find a new dentist. However, I recently chipped my tooth and my local dentist office was closed. So, my mother contacted Dr. Rauterkus’s office, as she is still going to see him. They went out of their way to try to find resources for me in Los Angeles to get my tooth fixed as soon as possible. Not many dentists would take the time to look into resources outside of their region to help out a former patient. I appreciated their loyalty and commitment to helping me out all the way up in Los Angeles.

Dr. David Rauterkus was recommended to me by several teachers in our community. I’ve been a patient for nearly 10 years now. He is so professional, friendly, excellent diagnosis and treatment. He makes crowns in his own office so I don’t have to come back and he has excellent referrals for root canal too. Michele the office manager is caring, professional, helpful with appointments, a true friend for health care and the heart. Melissa the hygienist keep my teeth shining. This office environment is 100 percent friendly, caring and professional. It is worth my ½ hour drive, I wouldn’t think of changing dental care.

Dr. Rauterkus was recommended to me over 15 yrs ago. I would not consider going anyplace else. The staff are always so cheerful the minute you walk in the door, greeting you by name, which is impressive. I have never had a bad experience with anyone. You can tell the Dr really cares about his patients and so do the staff. They have always treated me well and the procedures were all done without issue. The office is very hygienic and they worked hard to fit me in when I needed it. Not sure anything else needs to be said. I would definitely give them a shot.

There is few times I actually enjoy going to the dentist, but this was completely unavoidable now; I chipped my tooth a couple days ago when trying to take apart my bed frame (I accidentally whacked myself in the face with the drill) and the Front Desk Manager at Dr. Rauterkaus’ office, Michelle was able to fit me in today to get my tooth repaired and also dealt with my insurance company to work out the kinks in my payment plan while I was getting my teeth worked on.
This is a really mellow, well decorated and beautiful office. I have never seen a place care so much about their patients! He put images in the fluorescent light fixtures on the ceiling to allow people something to look at so that they do not get bored, there is a fish tank in the room and it is not an all white room, it is blue and beach themed! These are positives to me, I like having things to look at, it keeps me from tensing up.
Dr. David and his staff are awesome! They do a great job from booking to exit and make you feel like you are welcome in their home. They go out of their way and above and beyond to make this a memorable experience in a good way, I would highly, highly recommend them to friends and family. I am moving out of state and will come back when I visit San Diego!

I’ve been going to Dr. Rauterkus for years and love seeing him and his staff. They do a great job and all their equipment is very up to date with technology. The staff always remembers me and makes you feel comfortable when coming to the dentist is definitely not my most favorite thing in the world.
They also do great discount specials for the Zoom whitening, which I’ve done a few times now. Definitely works better than white strips and you can watch Netflix while you wait! Would highly recommend it to anyone looking to whiten their teeth quickly and that want it to last!

We just moved to poway and I drive by this office everyday. In search for a new dentist I decided to call and make an appointment. Everyone in the office is extremely polite. Love Dr. David love Melissa the hygienist. She did an awesome job with my teeth cleaning. I loved the care and attention that I receive so much that I made an appointment for my two-​year-​old daughter again we were scheduled with Melissa who was super patient explained everything to my daughter showed her everything she would use and did an awesome job cleaning her teeth.
I would totally recommend this dentist office to anyone who’s in search of a new dentist. In addition to the awesome service that I received the dentist office is extremely clean and modern looking.

Dr. David and his entire dental and office staff are AMAZING. Dr David has been my dentist for as long as I can remember. He also sees my 3 kids, my husband, my mom and dad, brother, sister in law, nephew and friend. He is very professional and has a lot of high tech stuff to make visits easy and thourough. He has helped me and my family out with our cleanings, dental needs, teeth whitening and has been able to help us obtain referrals for oral surgeons as well as braces. He and his staff really do care about their patients and make everyone feel at home. I always know we’re getting the best and most honest care for our teeth.
