On 5÷6÷15, I couldn’t use the only available remaining handicap parking space at the 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant in San Diego. This because the Sysco truck, license # 9D75701, while unloading items, was double parked in front of the blue handicap spots. Because the restaurant is very busy at lunch, I was forced to park approximately 200′ away from this space. It’s very painful for me to walk anything but a short distance, because of my disability. The drivers selfish act was not only a violation of the California Vehicle Code; but also by depriving a disabled person of the use of that space, it was also a violation of the state Unruh Civil Rights Act. I sent a letter the same day to Mr. Bill DeLaney, President and CEO of Sysco and never got a response. If you own a restaurant and want lots of unhappy disabled people, go with Sysco.
